  1. For some reason I'm reminded of a former colleague who got carried away when 'tidying up' her PC and ended up not just deleting all her old unwanted documents etc, but any files that she did not recognise or know the purpose of, including those of the operating system itself and was most indignant when it stopped working
  2. I've seen a lot of social media coverage drawing attention to the upheaval caused by the new adminstration"s cuts and firings at the Federal Aviation Authority, and at the same time the counter argument that this happened because the FAA employs 'retards' under ill conceived DEI policies and as always it's just so difficult to guess at which scenario is the more likely
  3. At last another worth sharing (barely) Wordle 1,315 3/6 ⬜🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟨🟩⬜⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  4. We've still got 2 Samsung TVs that have basically been retired after 16 and 10 years without any issues, but two newer ones both developed problems. There's lot of luck involved with this stuff and I'd buy from somewhere with a nice long warranty whatever brand folk go for
  5. We've gone from being all Samsung to all LG and the latter have had the edge reliability wise
  6. I had a small telly from Richer Sounds that developed a fault that couldn't be fixed five years into the six year warranty and they basically gave me back the original cost of it to put towards a replacement. I can't believe they always do this, they wouldn't still be in business, but it's a good example of how good their customer service is
  7. Last summer I spent £430 on a 50" LG from John Lewis, so I got the 5 year warranty. It replaced a similarly priced Samsung which had pretty much lost its Smart functionality as it was a decade old and couldn't support the modern apps. It's not wildly impressive but the interface and speed etc is good for the money. I'm not sure how much extra future proofing you get if you spend significantly more
  8. For me, the 'Roman salutes' and open support for AfD are just signs of someone that values good old hard work and common sense. Wracking my brain for other things it might mean but so far just coming up with blanks
  9. Does a second one cancel out the first? I've not been up with Nazi salute etiquette since I fell out with Unity Mitford when she didn't return the power tools I lent her
  10. It's not a Nazi salute if you do it really quickly
  11. A long range Tesla Model 3 would do that easily, even in winter. I'm not sure I'd trust my Ioniq 5 to do that when it's cold but it can take super fast chargers so I can add enough miles to make the journey comfortably by charging at Sainsbury's Fosse Park for ten or fifteen minutes and not add significantly to the cost of the journey. You could save a lot more money though by not actually making that trip, I live half an hour's walk from the ground and I can barely be arsed to go

  13. I wouldn't fill my Zeppelin fleet (with which I intend to take over the world - screw you, Musk) with anything else
  14. That's a sweet starting guess I changed mine today, not quite as good though: Wordle 1,308 3/6 🟩⬜⬜⬜🟩 🟩🟨⬜🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  15. Isn't the promotion of hydrogen cars just another delaying tactic on the part of the fossil fuel industry to delay the transition to electric vehicles? Hydrogen may be an abundant element but it's not cheap to generate, store or transport. Great for extra dangerous ballooning though Edit: apologies for tediously repeating pretty much the points made in literally the post above
  16. Wordle 1,305 6/6 🟨⬜🟨⬜🟨 🟨🟨⬜⬜🟨 ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩🟨⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 It's days like this it really feels like I'm not getting any better at this. I can live without the stress I felt on the last guess as well
  17. Also, I think I've gone up an age category so got a chance of being average instead of slightly below average
  18. That's just reminded me that I'm already signed up for the Big 10k (the one in Abbey Park) the following month. Need to pull my finger out, I'd completely forgotten about that

  22. Me not planning my route properly and allowing Google maps to send me down untreated roads with shit loads of black ice on. Mercifully hardly any other vehicles, but crikey that was frightening
