If we could play those games online against other people that would be super. I doubt it will happen though. It would hamper new sales. There’s a new Mario Party coming out soon for starters.

And also our most creative player (Mahrez) was dropped to give him a kick up the arse. Madders… -
What Game Are You Playing At The Moment ?

Being an n64 guy I never played Crash Bandicoot back in the day. Picked up the remastered trilogy and the 4th game for a combined £40 the other week and have since sunk my teeth into Crash 1. Great game. I’ve defeated the main boss and am now going back collecting the gems. Just got the red gem by completing Slippery Slope earlier. That was tough but fun. I believe Crash 1 is the toughest game? Either way, it’s great fun and a lot better than I thought it would be. -
Already got Skyward Sword on the Wii so the price is not worth it for me. It was the first 3D Zelda I never finished. Not through lack of enjoyment though but through breaking my wrist when I was halfway thru. Never got back into it. I’m having a bit of a Wii renaissance atm as I’m playing through DKC Returns (and bloody loving it btw) so may boot up Skyward Sword once I’ve finished that.

Ah that’s a shame. It depends on what genre you like. It’s easily the best console/handheld ever created if you love platformers and Metroidvanias.

Morgan was fast when he got going. Only problem was it took him all day to get to top speed.

What Game Are You Playing At The Moment ?

For sure. I’ve stopped playing FIFA aswell and been so much happier for it. That game needs a revolution. Same old crap every single year. In fact between 2010-2020 I only really played sports titles and I have missed so much. That’s why the Switch has been good for me. Loads of ports to catch up on games I have missed over the last decade! Bioshock Trilogy, Resident Evil, Skyrim are all games I have purchased in the last few months but not even started yet… I seriously need to whittle this current backlog down…! It doesn’t help that I’ve got 30 switch games and I’ve been spending a lot of my gaming hours playing the SNES online working through Mario All-Stars and the Donkey Kong Country trilogy!! -
What Game Are You Playing At The Moment ?

Great question. Back in the day in the late 90s when I was a wee nipper I’d usually buy one game and not buy another until I completed it. These days? Now I’m working and got more disposable income mixed with highly available games just ready to download digitally and play at the touch of a button… Im buying games left, right and centre and I’m left with a massive backlog. Only got the Switch in October and I’ve got about 30 games in the backlog whilst playing about 5 or 6 games simultaneously. Need to sort it out and concentrate on one game at a time again. But then Hades is available for £15 so I snap that up making 31 games in the backlog lol. Edit: Just looked it up…. N64: 24 games owned Gamecube: 12 games owned Wii: 15 games owned Switch: 30 games owned - only had it 9 months lol. Need to slow down on the purchases. -
I echo the bang average thoughts. Cant even bring myself to complete it and that has never happened to me with a Zelda game before. in other news, the eshop sales are awesome at the minute. Hades about £15 is very interesting to me. Crosscode, Dead Cells, Blue Fire and Mario Rabbids are all £7-£14 too. Anyone played any of these?

Currently playing through three 2D platformers at the same time. Super Mario Bros 3 Up to World 6. Donkey Kong Country 2 Up to level 33/41, Arctic Abyss. Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair 43/48 bees. Really enjoying each game. Impossible Lair probably the best of the lot. -
Not over in my opinion. A fine (that goes to the lower leagues) and something like 20pts deduction for next season. They need to be held accountable. Not the players or fans fault if a club goes into administration either but they get points deduction for that. There needs to be some form of punishment. Simply apologising isn’t good enough, they’ll only try something like this again one day.

If it gets Rare Replay onto a Nintendo console then I will be a very happy chappy.
-
Ps...if anyone likes Donkey Kong Country or 2D platformer games in general then you will love the Yooka-Laylee sequel; Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair. Finally got around to playing it and it’s insanely good. 10/10 easily.

Great gaming debates - Part 1 - Sonic Vs Mario
Oswinner replied to TiffToff88's topic in Music and Gaming
Mario 64 was my first proper Mario game. Got a switch in October and been hooked on Mario All-Stars on the SNES ever since. Well, that and the Donkey Kong Country games. Super Mario Bros 1 is probably my favourite. Just so simple but addictive. Its a good game when played normally but it’s best played arcade style, trying to beat the game without a game over. Furthest I’ve gotten to before the game over is world 7-1. Sonic? I had it on Game Gear back in the day. Cool game but not played it in over 25 years. Mario wins for me. -
Hey. New to the discussion. I understand about CA/PA after using lockdown to edit a load of FM16 attributes so I can replay the 15/16 season in all its glory. City were dog rough at the start of that game. What’s Barnes’ CA/PA? I’d guess about 150/-9 at the start of the season? Have his best attributes be Speed/Acceleration/Balance/Long Shots (15+) left foot is half decent aswell. I understand a 15. Anywhere between a 10 and 15 is good for me. and then something like; 20 AML 15 ML, AMC, MC 10 AMR, MR, ST All subjective of course.
-
Isn’t that what Nintendo Switch Online is? I’ve been enjoying plenty of SNES games recently. Never had a SNES back in the day as n64 was my first console. Right near the end of Donkey Kong Country - fantastic game.
-
At £8.74 you cannot go wrong. Just don’t go in with the mindset that it’ll be as good as Banjo. It’s a good 7 or 8/10 game.
-
Just completed Yooka-Laylee. 30 hours of fun right there. Recommended to anyone who enjoyed the Rare 3D platformers of the late 90s. Got it for £8.74 from the eshop, if it’s still that price then the game comes highly recommended. Bargain.

Do it. I dusted off Majoras in December. Terrific game. Tooie and Majoras are both classics, even if the predecessors are ever so slightly better. However, they are both different enough to stand on their own two feet. Tooie is more like Zelda whilst Kazooie is more like Mario 64. And Majoras is just a dark, disturbing game - for all the right reasons. I’m not much of a shooter fan either, but Goldeneye was just class with friends and I really got into all the gadgets and secret agenty stuff in Perfect Dark. The story gets a bit lame near the end but the gameplay is so good that I didn’t care too much. I hear they are rebooting the series. I’d rather Rare Replay got released on the Switch and a spiritual sequel was made. as for spiritual sequels...I’m just at the end boss of Yooka-Laylee, The spiritual sequel to the Banjo games. Not quite as good as Banjo but still, it’s great fun. Had a hoot.

Rare were golden during this era. Wish they stayed with Nintendo.
-
Cool list. Can’t believe you have Conkers Bad Fur Day and Perfect Dark so low down and couldn’t really get into Majoras Mask and Banjo-Tooie. Those four games carried my gaming 2000 through to GameCube. That’s the beauty of opinions though. All subjective. Nintendo 64 definitely has my favourite catalogue of games.
-
I’m feeling all nostalgic and going through my n64 games and trying to put them in order of rank. What are people’s favourite Nintendo 64 games? You can write a top-10 list or just generally write about one or two games you love (or hate). Here’s mine; Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Perfect Dark Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask Goldeneye Banjo-Kazooie Banjo-Tooie Conker’s Bad Fur Day Donkey Kong 64 Super Mario 64 Mario Kart 64 Mario Tennis Super Smash Bros F-Zero X Jet Force Gemini Mario Party Mario Golf WWF No Mercy Star Wars Episode 1: Racer Pokemon Stadium ISS 98 WWF Wrestlemania 2000 ISS 2000 Excitebike 64

For sure. Just before Xmas I re-completed Majoras Mask. Puts Breath of the Wild to shame. I’m so disappointed in Breath of the Wild right now. I’ve played 30+ hours and I still don’t feel like I’ve progressed in the game. Could be such a great game aswell. The weapon durability kills it. My Zelda grades; Ocarina (10/10) Majoras (10/10) Twilight Princess (9/10) Wind Waker (9/10) Skyward Sword (8/10) Breath of the Wild (7/10) I’ve got to get Mario Odyssey. Been addicted to 2D Mario recently and also been enjoying Yooka-Laylee. Will get it at one point, as well as A Hat in Time.
-
Now I’ve put 30+ Hours into Breath of the Wild, as a massive Zelda fan, all I can say is, it’s a massive disappointment. Started out really excited by it all. You can go anywhere and explore. Hyrule has never looked better. But the combat...I end up running away from every enemy. Weapons break far too easily and it is really not fun because of this. I wouldn’t mind a weapon durability system, if all the weapons weren’t made of glass. Ruins the game for me.

Owned (and still do) an n64, GameCube and Wii but not the Wii U. Had about ten years away from gaming but bought the Switch back in October and I’ve been reeled back into it. What a system. Purchased two games with it; Animal Crossing for the Mrs. Don’t really understand the hype for it, maybe we haven’t played it enough but neither of us are hooked. The other game was Super Mario 3D All Stars for me, even though I still own 64 and Sunshine. Nostalgia overload. Re-completed 64, still a great game but not aged too kindly. Nearly re-completed Sunshine. Underrated game, aged really well. Actually preferred Sunshine over 64, which shocked me as I preferred 64 back in the day. Onto Galaxy next, which I have never played. The nostalgic joys made me start playing NES and SNES games (mostly Mario, Zelda, Metroid) and I got a little addicted to the original Mario Bros. This led me to purchase Super Mario Maker 2. Been addicted to it since purchase and think I will be until I get my super world completed. Creating it original NES game-style. Maker ID is in a couple of posts above if anyone wants to try it out. I’ve not completed it yet but have posted the first draft of the first 4 worlds. This newfound love of 2D platforming led me to... Horace. Heart-warming throwback nostalgic game, which played into my nostalgic mind state. Over halfway through and have really enjoyed it. Highly recommended, especially as it’s a budget price. Ori and the Blind Forest. Masterpiece. Just finished last night. If you love 2D platforming then this is a must-buy. Got it for £14.99 and I think it’s on a deal for like £10 now. Bargain. Will get the sequel at one point. Hollow Knight. Bit of a white lie this one. I actually got it on PS4 back in November/December when it was available ‘for free’ on PS Plus. Listed it here because I will end up getting it on Switch when my PS Plus account finishes. Very tough game. Not for the feint-hearted. More combat involved than Ori. Slightly prefer Ori, but this is still a 9/10 game. Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair. Just got this a couple of days ago after enjoying the demo and seeing it at a discounted price of £9.99. From some of the makers of Donkey Kong on the SNES and Banjo-Kazooie on the n64. This is the second instalment of the franchise. 2D platformer just like the Donkey Kong SNES games. Not played past the demo yet because I also bought with it... Yooka-Laylee. The first instalment. This one is 3D style like the Banjo games. If you loved the Banjo games you’ll enjoy this one. Only 4 hours in but enjoying myself. Don’t think it will match the quality of the Banjo games as the game seems to lack a bit of polish and can be a little awkward. Fun little game so far though. Will be worth the £8 price. Skyrim. Mrs wanted it for Xmas as she really liked playing it a few years ago. I find that hard to believe as she’s hopeless at computer games haha. Think I’ll enjoy this one too when I get around to playing it as I love the Zelda games which leads me to... Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Mrs got me this for Xmas. Taking this one slowly, savouring it, as I love the Zelda franchise. Not that far into it yet but think it may challenge Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask as my favourite Zelda. So different from past Zelda’s but still feels like Zelda. Weird. Will probably get Link’s Awakening and any other port/remake that Nintendo can throw my way... Also picked up Oceanhorn for a budget £6. Zelda-lite. Mrs is enjoying it, hoping it gets her into Zelda. Seems decent enough for £6. On my radar (other than the Ori sequel and anything Zelda-related) is Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Mario Odyssey, Hades, Astral Chain. However, there is only so many hours in the day. Need to finish all these games first...
