  4. Absolutely no need to apologise, you have so much patience and your dedication to both your daughters is something you should be very proud of, I admire you and your wife for your selflessness and your compassion through what must have been, and continue to be such challenging times for you both ❀️

  11. I had a very similar experience to Crinkly, allbeit with a different diagnosis, I have Polycythaemia Vera which is also a type of blood cancer. The phrase 'my world tilted on its axis' exists for the reason that this is exactly what it feels like to receive news like this, I remember the phone call from my doctor after a routine blood test like it was yesterday, and I felt like I shifted 45 degrees sideways. My outlook was a life expectancy of about 15 years, but I quickly realised that people are usually diagnosed with PV at a fairly old age when they possibly only have around 15 - 20 years left anyway, and I am one of the lucky ones who can receive treatment to manage it given that I was still in my early 40's when I was diagnosed. Wishing you all the best and lots of love, I'm at the end of my DM's if you ever need to chat xx
  12. Still think it was just a 'sniffle' eh @Paninistickers?

  14. I hope so for her family's sake, regardless of how people feel about her parents leaving her I can't begin to imagine the torture they must have gone through for all this time not knowing, they need closure one way or another.
  15. Thanks, we're really looking forward to it! We have tickets for the F1 qualifying in Qatar, we have a dhow boat cruise booked in Khasab on @FoyleFox suggestion, and we have the Emirates Palace booked too, plus so much other stuff I think we're going to need a rest when we get home
  16. Thanks, yeah hopefully, it will only be our second cruise and we haven't done the first one yet, that's November from Dubai to Oman, Abu Dhabi and Qatar, we're hoping we like cruising If you have any must sees in Malaysia and Singapore let me know, I haven't planned anything for the port days yet, we're going to extend our stay in Singapore afterwards for a few days at least
  17. Two of the most noticeable differences for me when we moved to Spain from the UK was the vastly reduced availability of processed ready meals in the supermarkets, and the difference in the food offerings at the service stations. The supermarkets have a few varieties of fresh pizza and maybe a ready made lasagne, but that's about it, nothing like the many aisles we had in our old Tesco full of processed and microwaveable curry, chinese, pasta, all different types of pizza and whatever else. Most meals here are either cooked fresh or eaten out, even the takeaways are fewer here, people just go to the restaurants. The freezer sections aren't filled with processed meat and potato products either, it's mainly ice cream and seafood This seems to be the same in Portugal and Italy, at least where we've visited, too. My nearest McDonalds is about an hour away and Burger King about 45 minutes, and I live in a popular holiday resort. Outside of the cities and the motorway service stations the fast food places are much harder to find, and at the services the proper restaurants are much more popular. Ingredients aside there seems to be an overall much better attitude to food here, at least ime.
  18. We're booked on a cruise out of Singapore to Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam next year, end of November into December. The cruise ships tend to go at the best times of year, at least I hope so

  20. Reminds me of the days when my journey to work was so short I worked out which songs lasted for the duration of the journey and only used to play them. Simple pleasures, but very satisfying, nothing worse than getting to work half way through a great track
