We bought our daughter a car for her 18th recently, the car is the same age as her and has a CD player fitted. Luckily we still have some old CDs in the garage and she shares a little of my taste in music, so we found a few and they are now enjoying a new lease of life in her car At least until she replaces the music player anyway!

The day itself was actually OK, in the end I think it helped that my daughter's birthday was on the same day, it kind of took my mind off what should have been. There's definitely some kind of come down since though, everything just seems so pointless. I'm not brave enough to do anything about it and I wouldn't do it to the other people I love, but fvck me this is hard, all I really want to do is end everything to be with Ellis, but I can't. It's being left behind that is the hardest thing, I don't know how other parents cope with losing their children, although obviously plenty sadly do Distraction seems to be key for me. Work, holidays that involve lots of planning and looking for a new house are all working tactics for me now, I'm not sure how long I, or my bank balance, can sustain it for though...

Can anyone recommend a company to book a Dubai desert safari with, the evening one with the bbq and dune bashing? They all look so similar but the prices vary a lot, as do the reviews, so I'd like to book with a company that someone has actually used before

That's interesting, I don't feel remotely discriminated against as a migrant where I live. I receive state health care and I'll receive a state pension when I retire, I can't think off the top of my head how the Spanish favour their own citizens over me as a migrant

Hard disagree. Migrants to the UK have presumably arrived within the legal guidelines outlined by the UK and therefore met the requirements to migrate to the UK, and should not be discriminated against solely because of their origin. Imo.

We're flying into Zagreb, picking up a hire car from the airport and then driving about 3 hours to Pula, staying there for 5 days, then driving 3 hours up to Terme Catez in Slovenia for another 5 days before we fly back to Spain from Zagreb, about 30 mins back to the airport from Terme Catez. Bit of a beach holiday in Croatia although still plenty to see quite close to where we're staying, and we'll visit Ljubliana and Lake Bled in Slovenia. Staying with Eurocamp in both locations, she loves the pools, the evening entertainment and meeting up with other teenagers, and we love the space and the freedom to do as we please. Flights, car hire and accommodation has come in at around €1k for the 3 of us so not expensive at all. We've never been to either country so I can't recommend anything unfortunately, but both places look stunning and we're really looking forward to it.

I love a good plan! We also have 2025 planned, a week in Marrakech in March, 10 days in June split between Croatia and Slovenia flying in and out of Zagreb, and 3 weeks in SE Asia in late November/early December. The first 2 weeks we will be on a cruise out of Singapore round Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, and then we're planning to tag 5 days on the end in Bali.
