Agreed, time is the bigger issue. I'd love to travel Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos but realistically it's not feasible until I retire. I want to be there long enough to experience it as more than just a tourist, and time off from work restricts that.

I also went to Tenerife in.my younger days and haven't been back since! I took my children to Maspalomas about 8 years ago and we enjoyed it, no idea about the others but at least you can pretty much guarantee the weather.

As Easter is in March next year it might be worth travelling a little further for better weather, what about the Canary Islands?

Retirement suits people in greatly differing ways it seems. My husband was very lucky to be able to take early retirement a few years ago at 50 and he loves it and never seems to get bored. We're lucky that I work remotely so we travel quite a bit and I can still work, does Mrs P work? Have you thought about travelling, even within the UK? We house sit so the accommodation is free, it's a great way to travel without losing your home comforts, we've spent nearly 3 and a half months away from home so far this year and the only cost has been fuel in the car, we've been to some amazing places and stayed in some fabulous houses
