  1. 3 out of 5 on their forum think they'll get something from this. I guess? In a competition with no replays, why have "draw" as a poll option? It may give the bookies another bet to offer, but there will be a winner. The question is, who do you think will move on?
  2. FFP will make that difficult. Remember, there are sanctions for exceeding £105M over 3 years. Everton lost almost £135M in 2021-22-23. Reported still operating at a loss over £1M per week. Friedkin will be paying for the sins of the previous regime for a while -- quite a while, if they go down. He could forgive their whole external debt (something like £600M) and they'd still be running in the red.
  3. I've gone from loving the spectacle (first half) to being glad nobody won (second half).
  4. "Haaland is too big to hurt ... let's take out Rodri"
  5. Changing his mind. Cards by the dozen. Guaranteed formal protests tomorrow. In a boarding house somewhere in Merseyside, Mike Dean is watching this refereeing performance with glee.
  6. Too easy for Welbeck
  7. Flimsy and way out of his depth today. Not a shock for a kid just out of his teens in his first PL start. The trick will be getting him enough league minutes to develop.
  8. The one positive is that the players are still playing for him. But I fear that will shift into reverse. He shows no sign of playing in a way that would maximize their abilities. Always a desperate, random-looking, try-not-to-lose setup, even at home against an inferior side. Add in that the best players are not the ones chosen for the XI … or indeed given more than cursory minutes … that’s the recipe for losing the dressing room.
  9. Absolute horror show.
  10. A phrase never before uttered on FT
  11. haven't we already?!
  12. what comes next in this sequence? 1. concede early 2. Biblical rain pissing down 3. Vardy down hurt 4. weekly Pickford howler does not result in a goal hint: it's not 5. Cooper sacked
  13. Danny Simpson got 2 minutes on the NBC pregame to talk about ... ?? I couldn't really tell. Punditry is not his future.
  14. Under contract to June 2030. If that's the whole prime of his career to ride their bench or get loaned out ... lousy move for him.
  15. You just didn't know where to look. He'll be on the bench ahead of Ward Same here sorry, my attempts at humor get even worse when I'm THIS ****ING NERVOUS
  16. FFS. The Club name an Official Loan Shark, and then just go back to the same old bank. The friendly folks at Lite Finance must be planning an unscheduled "friendly visit" to Seagrave as we speak.
  17. I understood them getting rid of the Chief Wahoo logo on the unis and merch. Even though I could (and often did) draw it from memory by the time I was 8. It was an obnoxious old cartoon whose time had passed. Never understood or agreed with the name change itself. Unlike Redskins, there's nothing pejorative about Indians. At least Guardians does relate to this city, unlike Indians. And I have more important things to do with my life than get wrapped around the axle over a team name. I rarely called them the Indians anyway -- so that habit was easy to break. But I still seem to call them the Tribe more than the Guards. FWIW, a friend who knows a board member told me when all was said and done, the Dolans felt the change was not worth the trouble. Don't know if that is still the case. p.s. GO PACKERS! If they can finish above Jerry, Dak & Co. with Malik Willis, that will be quite a story. p.p.s. If you've ever been to the Washington Navy Yard or Crystal City during the work day, you might think Commanders is indeed a Washington thing. Crawling with Navy O5's and O6s doing God knows what. Thousands of senior officers to run a 300-and-some ship Navy
  18. Guardians clinch the playoffs and should wrap up the AL Central this weekend. Just a half game back of the NY Cashmans for the best overall record and home field in the AL. A pleasure to watch them all season, for the way they play and the joy they take in it. I've watched much more talented Cleveland squads over the years, but none I loved any better. Unbelievable work by Vogt and the coaches to get those kids to this point. You almost expected the cop outside the locker room to bust in and arrest them for being too young to have cigars and Champagne. They release the playoff tickets to STHs today. Each whole strip will run $2500 in the view boxes (upper deck, the best moderately priced seats). Ouch.
  19. 150+ years in this statistically obsessed sport and no one has done this. Beyond amazing. BRAVO!!!
  20. Actually we have spent as much time leading games as Man United Not sure what conclusion to draw from this, except that we have not played anything like certain for the drop, unlike damn-the-torpedoes Southampton.
  21. You knew that was going in the moment Harvey squared to shoot. Well done.
  22. If they don't start figuring out how to defend set pieces ...
