  1. Clearly woke them up. They should have started like this. Look very good at times.
  2. Think this reflects both how far we've fallen as a club, but also how his reputation has taken a hammering too. Only way this is seen as a positive is if we finish first, and there are so many ways is blows up on our face.
  3. This is only another reason the decision is dumb though, they have chosen a manager who was guaranteed to keep the place toxic.
  4. He'll still be here because we've learned no lessons. If we have any sense we'd let him go to anyone willing to pay his wages. Don't know where this myth has come from that he's some brilliant player.
  5. Relegations are not good, particularly to the third tier. But it was another opportunity to recognise that we've been on the wrong path, to rid ourselves of the elements holding us back, and have a bit of a reset. Again we've decided, no, it's everyone else who's wrong. I guess Cardiff and Birmingham have had success with possession based football in league 1 recently. If he gets us back to mid table Champ in 3 years then that's probably success. That's very much the ceiling here though and the toxic atmosphere is only going to persist with Martin in charge.
  6. Don't think Scotland were great and a draw was probably a fairer result, but winning was all that matters. Very decent chance of getting to the knockouts now.
  7. That reminded me of old Leicester Vs new Leicester. A team with bodies on the line, happy to defend and happy to counter. Against a team without a striker who overvalued possession.
  8. 1. Has a clear style and methodology 2. Long unbeaten run at Southampton ending with a promotion in a season with 4 strong teams 3. Style proven to work in league 1 with Brum 4. It's been on the cards for us for a while, might as well get it out of the way
  9. I'm shocked they're claiming it's not a proportionate punishment. It's exactly proportionate to the game you were caught spying for.
  10. It did appear that Tonda had instilled a shithouse mentality there during the playoffs. Was surprised watching their antics during that game to be honest with the ball boys and stuff.
  11. His methods are good at ensuring his team beats teams they should beat (the wobble for us aside). At Man City he will have the best resources and so I can see them certainly finishing top 2. His record against teams around his or better was quite poor though I thought. We took 2 points from Leeds and Ipswich. That could well be the difference between a title or not and I'm not sure I envisage him getting a better tune out of this Man City squad than Pep.
  12. The rule wasn't in place when Leeds did it. That was what caused the rule to be added. Southampton have then broken that rule. No sympathy for them.
  13. I appreciate me putting on Sky Sports News is my own fault, but why are we still discussing the VAR disallowed goal against West Ham? I would have loved Arsenal to have bottled it but it looks like a sensible decision. Seems the TV channels try to confect controversy.
  14. Parker could walk into a top end Champ job no problems. Think Martin's options will be above where we're at too.
  15. I think people will be in for a shock when they see what team we have left by the end of the summer window. It will be very much a league one side I think.
  16. This highlights the challenge next season. Everyone is going to be gunning for the team with the fancy training ground and big wages.
  17. Danny Ward doing Danny Ward things. They were bigging up Torp but as he was lining up I was thinking "just hit the target mate and it's in".
  18. Let's certainly hope so. A clear out is needed to show that lessons have been learnt. But I'm not holding my breath. Lessons weren't learnt 12 months ago and we've just repeated the greatest hits in terms of mistakes in running a football club. When Andy King is taking the first pre-season game we'll known lessons haven't been learnt again.
  19. I don't think it's about coming back when winning. It's about coming back when we have a team who tries again, one who is willing to potentially give up possession to create an attack. One who leaves the pitch at 90 minutes knowing they gave their all. You could equally argue this is teaching your 6 year old a bad lesson...that you can put in little effort or application and there is zero consequence, in fact you individually may get promoted. I thoroughly enjoyed the last league one campaign, but I can't go and support a group who continue to slap me in the face every week. Us season ticket holders have been treated as mugs by the higher ups and fan loyalty is just treated as a given. I get why people want to go, and the relegation perversely may make some stick around for the reasons you suggest. But I don't think this is the route to positive change anymore.
  20. Feel like Bristol will punt for Martin.
  21. Wouldn't mind James Morrison if WBA decide to go elsewhere, just because he ticks a lot of the Nigel Pearson boxes: - Boro and West Brom connection - not had permanent managerial job - manager of a relegation rival who survived
  22. Have cancelled. Think it's probably been about 16 consecutive seasons up to this.
  23. Wanted Millwall to get autos but they were shite. We're being relegated from an abysmal league.
  24. If you drop down but are on a sound financial footing, you can probably just carry a squad which is too good for the division and hop back up as a mid-table Champ team. We are not in that position. Fire sale will get rid of bad characters but will also starve us of quality. I'm expecting us to finish somewhere between mid-table and playoffs.
