I generally agree today, "lots" of chances being subjective aside. But the manager will get no leeway given the baggage he came in with, and the baggage the club were already carrying.

I think the number of people who wanted him was vanishingly small. I agree that we're going to have a lot of the ball this season whoever is in charge, but I think the players are capable of playing in different ways. Not Russball =/= hoofball.

A lot have been calling for more academy lads to play, and I think generally those players have done well. But one thing it will likely mean is the odd error, not quite getting things right etc, from players who are learning. We absolutely need to be patient because of this. It's a horrible environment for these players who don't deserve it. Problem is that owners and higher ups have taken no accountability and there's a manager in place nobody wanted. Unfortunately that anger spills out in the only way it can.

The level of turnover this squad was going to require this summer is another reason we should have chosen a different manager. Get someone in who will work with what he has and get the bets out of them, allows much more flexibility when budget is tight and there is high player turnover.

I kind of understand managers going with players the know and trust. It takes a bit of a risk out of a transfer because they can vouch for the character and know what type of player they're getting. So Martin has signed a player he chose not to use when Bazunu was fit at Southampton. Absolutely nuts. He didn't trust him to play his style of play at Southampton, and now we get the find out why. I think Martin could still have got a Champ job in the summer or waited until winter for one to come up, if he had wanted to. There's no way we've have been able to get an easy break clause in his contract. He was a shit AND expensive option I imagine. Might be the strongest case for keeping him: that we'd be financially f'd if he was sacked.

The facility isn't an issue. I think a lack of planning alongside it is. It's a smart addition but then needs to become the heart of everything we do. - Coaches and staff need to be great. Can be learning their trade too but we need to tap into the absolutely best people to be working with our youngsters. - Elite sports science. Was adopted heavily under Pearson but we've regressed since. We should be pushing the boundaries in this area. - Youngsters should have clear routes into the first team. Each manager should be told there is a minimum number of our youth in EVERY match squad. And we should now be using cup games to give more of them more minutes. The slightly sad other side of the coin is then selling assets at the right time. But if you have the above then it should be a stream of decent players, and when one is sold another one is promoted into the first team. And the sales would aid PSR and financial issues that we've run into. Doesn't always have to be big sales either, there could be a steady stream of sub £5m sales that supports the club.

Yeh that's fair. I think we're a bigger fish in a smaller pond than last season though, slightly. All the same issues exist though. The rot won't stop until King Power are gone.

If you were basing it solely on the first two games you'd be choosing relegation. I suspect we'll eventually improve slightly, and I think a closed window will help, but no promotion is on the cards for this shambles.

The prices last season clearly had points deductions built in to them and weren't based entirely on perceived team quality. Even then I'm not sure our odds for relegation were that short, I certainly backed it at odds greater than the c11/1 we were to go up.

Exactly this, he seems to want us to have the ball, but no plan beyond this. Possession with intent is what we need. Use the ball to try and create shots/chances, with multiple options available for passes ALWAYS, and work damn hard to win it back when you lose it.
