  1. It’s £5m. We ain’t paying £8m unless we stay up. In which case, if we do, who cares.
  2. Two years… phew.
  3. He’s a foreign fancy Dan who nobody has ever seen… it’s foxestalk catnip!
  4. Funnily enough I thought that watching a few clips.
  5. And if you just signed young players (you must agree we need players?) either their path or the other players paths are blocked. Or... it's a squad and they'll all play during the season.
  6. It makes an impact on how happy I'd be about the window though and the position of the squad.
  7. I think it's more the fact we clearly aren't an attractive proposition at the moment, and we might not get a transfer over the line. Rather than us not wanting to. We've obviously already been gazumped at the last moment and that can happen again.
  8. I get people's point that Shinji was in a team that had Prime Vardy and Mahrez, so the pressure wasn't on him to score as much. But I don't think we are looking to win the league. If he can contribute 4 or 5 goals and 6 or 7 assists then I'd be very happy with that return. But again, it all really hangs on getting in another player who is going to contribute more upfront and provide that reliable cover for Vardy when he invariably can't play.
  9. Leadership comes in many forms, some are vocal leaders, some lead by example... and by the sounds of it he's at the very least the latter.
  10. That's yet to be seen this season, but our net spend hardly screams of risk taking.
  11. Yeah £5m worth of sterling.
  12. If it's affordable, then there's no big issue. If it's a two year contract it adds a couple of million a year to the amortisation and bit of wages, so long as there is a large wage reduction for relegation in place, then I don't see the problem there.
  13. The Palace fans are reviewing what he's actually done on the pitch and not suggesting they believe he COULD be a good player.
  14. I don't think there is a single person that says he's done well for us; they just believe there is a player in there somewhere. A bit different.
  15. We paid £500k nearly 30 years ago, the best players in the world were going for £10-£20m back then. Taking transfer inflation into account, it's pretty much exactly the same.
  16. I'm not against Ayew in isolation, but I think you're right in terms of giving the manager too much power again to dictate everything and certainly being too far from the previous manager in terms of what he wants to allow him to do. Our plan seems to be to allow the manager to dictate the plan. Now, that plan might work. But it's not a particularly good way of going about things, because as you say... you rip it all up each time.
  17. The manager said we wanted a number of players with premier league experience, according to Percy. I'm not overly sold on that approach, personally, I've rather take a longer-term view of signing players who build a very good team if you go down. But if we buy a younger players with potential up top to go with it, then it's not too bad.
  18. Longer contract, more security, club accepted a bid, doesn't want to move his family to the arse end of nowhere for a few quid more... Nobody is getting promises of being starters.
  19. It's exactly the same, we aren't buying Ayew to be a proven goalscorer, we're buying him to bring all the things the palace fans say he brought to their team. What their skill set is has little to do with it. Cottee was seen as ancient then at 32, players are far fitter now than they were.
  20. How recent you talking? Because we signed Cannon, Fatawu and Mavedidi last season. Contrary to what people would like us to believe, we mix it up.
  21. It's not odd, you quoted him incorrectly and completely ignore very good reasons as to why an interest we knew about weeks ago has only just converted into a transfer.
  22. £5m is a lot of money for a 32-year-old, as I said before, so was £500k for Cottee, though. So long as he contributes well for a couple of years and we don't hand out a silly contract, then frankly, the money is nothing in football terms. Let's get in an exciting young striker as well to supplement it. Anyone whining about what he brings, remember you are the same people who say you should trust what other fans say about their players. "Ayew is the perfect player to see a game over the line. A right pain in the arse." "I will miss his dogged dedication, and so I fear will the team." "However, whist it's good business for a guy who is 33 in a few weeks i will miss him a bit and his ability to play anywhere across the front 3 was invaluable. He deputised well for Olise last season, which is a big compliment." "Good Luck Jordan...... great servant to the club who always gave his all for the shirt." "Absolutely. Any team with a few players with his attitude wouldn't go far wrong. Always willing to do whatever and play wherever he was asked. A real team player and as you say anyone who can score a goal like his against WHam isn't short on ability either. " "sad to see him leave. His tenacity and determination were second to none. Plus his work rate was amazing." "Ayew is an experienced head he is one of the most fouled players in the division for a reason, he is a pest."
  23. Or... the player takes time to think about it, or we're actually juggling several transfers at a time and if your preferred target drops though, you progress one of the others. What Cooper said "We’re intending to, and we have to bring in more players before the end of the window. Hopefully this week before Fulham" There are plenty of reasons, but let's not ignore another chance to moan.
  24. I’ll stick to judging that until we see them play and how the season pans out. You stick to proclaiming Tete as the second coming before he kicked a ball.
  25. Clearly we aren’t singing him for his goal record, but to help with other specifics of our play.
