  1. I would love it... but with potentially two points penalties hanging over us I fear it might be too much. Especially having lost our manager and best player as well.
  2. Well my whole point has been Zaha does not commit you beyond this season cost wise. Any other signing does, so suggesting a player for x amount on x contract and saying we can just sell him, does not work.
  3. Great, can you guarantee his sale next season?
  4. You aren’t getting a proven really good championship player for £10m. You said a young player, which generally means unproven. And you also CANNOT guarantee any sale whatsoever, which is the point.
  5. £18m is the wages over the course of the contract. £30k a week.
  6. Add in champions league and it's 10 goals and 4 assists in about 1800 minutes last season.
  7. If you spend £10m fee on a player with wages it's more like £18m, and you are committed to paying that no matter what for 4 to 5 years.
  8. Yes they would, I've been on here long enough to know that. £9m might be a lot to you, but in terms of a premier league football club, it's not that big a deal. What's far more important is that we know we can balance the books if we go down. Remember everyone moaning on here about us getting into financial trouble? It's a necessary evil due to our position, and yeaaaaah it might be possible to get another player cheaper on loan, but they will cost money also, and if they are any good at all they will cost a lot of money. As much as him... maybe not, but we need to get deals done. We can't keep going from one player and club forever to get amazing perfect deals.
  9. People are baffling, if the deal was written as £3m fee and we pay his wages, there wouldn't be the moans. But write it as £8m loan fee and Gala pay his wages and some how people have a wappy about the money
  10. We have money, the issue is PSR now and PSR next season. The devil is in the detail of the deal, but if the money goes down as wages it's not a massive issue, the issue is not adding large amounts to the amortisation fugure for years to come. So in reality it's very possible it takes nothing away from the money we have for fees.
  11. When it includes wages it's a few million loan fee and then wages. In our position, we can't comit to too much in fees and wages BEYOND this season. So it's ok saying x, y, z player is available and it's a waste of money. The point is, next season we aren't comitted and won't find ourselves in the shit.
  12. Not a fair comparison really, the £206m includes an extended accounting period. Plus, compare our turnover in 2018 and the wages would be a massive percentage of it.
  13. Sacking Pearson Hiring Sven Hiring Sousa Approving us spending loads of money on crap Failing FFP in the championship Approving us doing the dodgy trestrellar deal Sex scandel in Thailand (don't tell me Top and Rudkin wouldn't get lambasted if that happened now) The Pearson "You're sacked, no your not episode". Approving the hiring or Puel Sticking with Rudkin through the Silva stuff, the mess ups with the release clauses in contracts. As Davie Mentioned, he's approved our spend big on wages budgeting, that came under him. His MO was always about spending over our budget and selling players to cover it (fine when you have the assets and fine when they don't want to run down their contracts). Now, plenty of mistakes. But he'd course correct and generally get to the right place despite cocking up.
  14. The modern mind, completely incapable of chaining a few thoughts together. Critical thinking is no more.
  15. You are right we should spend £25m on every single player so we get all the best up and coming talents and then just get hammered with points deductions. Our signings are a symptom of where we are, not because we really really want to sign loads of old players.
  16. And yet they turned down 20m+ from Ipswich?
  17. Always had the feeling he was fed up after not being allowed his big move and probably regrets a few things.
  18. The large loan fee, and then wages paid by them just facilitates either them getting the money up front, or us being able to pay it up front and someone will benefit from that. I don’t think there is any reason to over think it. The amounts paid will be the same whether upfront or in dribs and drabs.
  19. I mean they aren’t stupid are they! They know we lost our best player, they know we’ve not really signed anyone of any quality, they lost their manager and they know we are going to get hit with a points deduction. It’s his job to try and bring them back up, but Christ the club need to throw the bloke a bone to help him.
  20. It is also a friendly and may not be what he does come the real games. Why on earth we still have these conversation about pre season games every year is beyond me, year after year after year they turn out to be totally meaningless… and yet now apparently we need to sack the manager. He may or may not be woeful, Christ he’s already operating with one arm tied behind his back. But nothing in preseason should be used against him.
  21. Because it’s f****** stupid I’d imagine.
  22. I think we’ll still spend a bit, but the way people go on they were expecting everyone to be a wedge and no frees or loans despite our obvious position!
  23. Genuinely wondering what the hell people were expecting 😂
