  1. It’s a 3 game week, the freaks come out
  2. That’s the sort of new excitement I can get behind.
  3. Let’s hope it’s at least Nelson.
  4. I agree and with regards to Page, it would be brave but I think we must be braver with blooding the youth, and just live with the drop ins quality during the process. This again loops back to why the old guard get so many minutes compared to youth, is it contractual, ability gap is wider in staffs opinion, etc, but we cannot wait until they leave as their replacements in youth need bedding in before first XI contracts expire.
  5. As we well know, the individual quality of players is important, but you can still get another 10% or whatever through togetherness and familiarity. Ipswich being the previous poster child of such ‘punching above their weight’ through having a decent manager, longevity and good vibes. Maybe Cov are next.
  6. Rohl is off to Rangers.
  7. Turns out you were right, you have bored me into submission!
  8. Good Morning Sunshine Of course, when did I say it should not be questioned? I said I preferred to not make a conclusion/judgment from a position of a lack of knowledge. This is of course not helpful in terms of new posts or stoking fires, but it is my right Edit Please note I did not ignore that Trump comparison, just chose to treat it with the derision it deserved.
  9. Oh I do not disagree that managers and staff aren’t always correct, but I also accept I do not see what they see, so acting like I know better is not in my wheelhouse, sorry. Can easily imagine there is an element of ‘told to play’ certain players to retain value though, or worse, it’s contractually defined. Do not believe Nelson is bad, just that he is not as good as some suspect at this time and/or he is blocked by progressing here until someone leaves for the reason discussed above.
  10. Always with the final jibe eh? It is two sets of opinions mate, that’s all.
  11. What are you 5? . But to satisfy your strange childish need, please see below Is that sufficient? I still maintain he will make it here btw
  12. Sorry, but why must I find a precedent for an opinion I hold about a player being reliable in a defensively minded team than in a team where we expect to be less so. Bit weird. Faes being crap and Vestergaard being slow does not automatically mean Nelson is the answer. What if the coaching team see them in training and decide that in this style we play, ie; not leaving players back, Faes, Okoli, Vestergaard, etc are better suited. Anyway, this has now gone from no consensus to really rather dull!
  13. Plenty seem to think we are on a higher level within the division, but the squad has been littered with poor signings for quite some time. That coupled without a strong consistent direction from subsequent managers, means we are just starting again, and then again after the next manager. Was always going to take time to turn this squad into a cohesive unit, and spinning the manager roulette again feels like madness. As has been discussed ad infinitum, the answer is a good DoF to provide clear tactical direction.
  14. Agree, also think this has gone as far as it can, as you have been unable to accept the style, the primarily defensive with counters at Oxford, is not the same as he will encounter playing here. (Ideal place to loan a defender) Have a good evening.
  15. Yes he can for a team that expected to be defending most of the time, with those in front of him countering, something he would play little part in. No doubt the experience was invaluable, more so if he could have completed the loan without interruption, but to say it’s the same as playing here is a bit silly. Have no doubt he will play for us by the way.
  16. What a load of crap
  17. Happens all the time, not just with academy lads. Bad game by Faes? Start Okoli Bad game by Okoli? Start Faes Bad game by Stephy? Start Monga Bad game…. Nelson is on a seemingly very typical trajectory, slightly derailed by his injury at Oxford. Why he did not go out on loan again is a valid question, but I suspect (as we were hearing) Faes was close to leaving but it feel through.
  18. Do they play the same style with the same expectations, do they sit back, etc. It’s not difficult to understand. I am not trying to discredit him (as he is on a fairly typical trajectory) but I also don’t want to be yet another overexcitable fan boy, and would rather consider the what ifs.
  19. Don`t tell him that or he won`t want to leave!
  20. That was an amazing volleyed pass from his own half by Cash to Digne, amazing control, sets up Buendia
  21. Easy to say things that are largely without basis. (Oxford is not comparable due to the different expectations, styles, etc) May well be style is the problem, but that is a different discussion!
  22. The issue remains the mentality, and has been so for the last few managers. Is Marti strong enough to sort it? Guess we shall see, but I certainly don't want a manager when sit where we are, and it is far above most peoples expectations. Yes, we are irritating as hell in terms of consistency, and I would give him a season to sort it out, or....
  23. Why would he better? Is this just change in hope? This is a disturbing direction for a club in need of taking a moment to recognise/adapt where we are, and we probably need a slice of boring for a season or two. Would not even say we are having tough times, just extremely underwhelming , but even that compared to peoples suggestion we would be relegated is massively at odds.
