I'm giving Marti a lot of the benefit of the doubt with the squad he inherited, but if I see BDCR become a regular again on top of us having to watch Ayew, Soumare and Faes play every week I'm going to be turning against him. I'm not even that bothered about going up this season, but there are some absolute rotters in this squad and, Skipp aside, he's giving every one of them gametime over the youth players who deserve to play.

I think after this we need to have a thread tallying up the points cost by individual mistakes and brainfarts. It should make for interesting reading at season's end. Could also tally up moments that gain us points for balance's sake. Not over yet of course, but as it stands we're 1 down thanks to the collective individual dumb****ery of Soumare, Vesty and Faes.

Debating whether to hate-watch this one tonight. I don't really want to even acknowledge that the crooks got into the EL by default, but at the same time I want to see them spanked and dumped out.

You'd think our outsize social media presence would be a big selling point if KP ever do the right thing. Laughable that we're probably one of the top 20 most 'visible' clubs in the entire world, at the peak of the social media age, yet our output consists of one-word posts and wishing Roman Bednar a happy birthday. I'm not joking when I say our joke of a social media team is probably costing the club millions in lost online revenue each year. There's zero engagement with that userbase. The Soccer Sevens we always do is a great example - imagine the interest if they could bring in a sponsor and stream it during the otherwise quiet summer? Nah, we just got a social media post about how great we'd done... after the tournament was over.

But that's not his job, he's there to mop up, police the centre of the park and free up those around him with vision in tight spaces, which he's very good at. The issue is him having had to do this while sharing a pitch with one or both of Soumare and Skipp, who offer zero dynamism and range passing which you need for Winks' role to be effective. Ndidi was similar, albeit far better at his defensive duties - his terrible passing being the prime reason he never got a 'big move'. You have to go back to Harry's partnership with KDH for an example of a midfield partner who had the skillset to compliment him, and the result was one of the best midfield partnerships the second tier has ever seen. It's telling that he's looking far more comfortable on the pitch with James there, who actually has a box-to-box football brain. As for Vesty, he's got more vision in his passing than most other players we have, which is why he plays despite his pace limitations. Picked out Abdul and Stephy plenty of times on Saturday.

What's their take on Southampton and Ipswich so far for those who bother to listen? Since they've both struggled far more than us so far. I'd guess they were hoping to pile on a poor start for us to fit the narrative, so I'm guessing the only week we got any real attention was the Preston game. We haven't smashed it so far, sure, but we're ticking along fine, which must annoy them.
