  1. QPR is a bad example though, because simply by signing Kone they've turned themselves into playoff contenders. Turns out you can have a bang-average squad and still excel if you know where the goal is. Hull have pulled a similar coup with the wise signing of McBurnie on a free, who is proven to be good at this level. Not claiming he's on the level of Kone, but he's already dragged Hull through a few games with his contributions. Six goals, four assists in ten games and player of the month in September. Our forward line could never. And we were comfortably beaten by them even with him out with a knock. Grim.
  2. It's an albatross around our neck, really. The standards we expect as fans are higher - doesn't make us entitled, we've just seen what hard work and the right attitude can produce, even when your options are technically limited. We've had diminishing returns for the best part of a decade now, while throwing a top-six Premier League budget at it, and there aren't any clubs (besides Wrexham) daft enough to take the dross we've signed off our hands. I honestly feel the window we've had was decent (except for Carranza so far). They're the caliber of player we want - both JJ and Ramsey have a decent skillset and seem to have a good attitude. But nothing changes until the awful, underperforming or in some cases downright toxic personnel we're still stuck with (Faes, Soumare, Skipp, Daka, Thomas, Vestergaard, cases to be made also for Ayew, Choudhury, Kristiansen and even Winks) are moved on. That's half the matchday squad who have question marks over their ability or attitude. The likes of Cov don't have that problem. Their squad will be on low wages and feel they have a point to prove. A lot of the morons in our own squad probably think they've already 'made it' and see this season as a stop-gap before another payday comes along. Obviously it comes with the asterisk of them all being on loan, but like I said it was a decent window on the whole and a low risk one too. We brought in at least two players that improve the team and got rid of a handful of wastemen. But the issue is, the level of rot in the squad is so high that it's barely scratched the surface. All we've done is chiselled the first icicle off a frozen turd.
  3. Fully agree, the issue with that is that our recruitment of senior players has been garbage for years. Even under Enzo, who on the whole improved the squad, our marquee 'experience' signing was Connor bloody Coady. It's yet another one you have to go back as far as Pearson to find faces who meet the criteria. Morgan, Huth, Cambiasso weren't just quality signings - they led by example and helped improve those around them. Struggling to think of players in that mould under anyone to come after who have fit the bill, though admittedly a lot of our old guard stuck around a long time (Vardy, Fuchs, Big Wes, Albrighton all here well into the 2020s). Ricky is probably the only one but he's only a senior because he's been here for ages!
  4. Wrexham are pushing ahead with plans to develop a brewery and entertainment complex right near their ground. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg51y50nryvo.amp Meanwhile here in Liverpool spades are in the ground to redevelop the area directly south of Everton's new ground. Something still conspicuously absent from our own plans despite the looming planning consent deadline. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/central-docks-groundbreaking-marks-major-milestone-in-liverpool-waters-regeneration We're being left behind due to a lack of ambition (and empty coffers) it seems. The wider redevelopment tied to our expansion was arguably more important than the bums on seats, as far as the city goes. The offering near the KP is appalling, as increasingly it is in the city as a whole.
  5. Yeah I don't expect it to be, just pointing out that even half of that and we may as well be looking down the table rather than up it. Our last-6 form is now identical to Derby and Wrexham, and worse than Oxford and Sheff Utd. We'd be well in it if enough points get chalked off, and that's before you even consider the possibility of losing the three gained against Sheff Weds. This group of jokers think they're too good for this division and they're in for a nasty shock if this continues up to the point the deduction hits.
  6. True, but (and it proves the point at the start of your sentence) which other fooker in that XI on the field at the time gets the band ahead of him right now? Jakub? Or really take the piss and give it to a 16 year old Winks needs to play because he's better from a pure footballing sense than the alternative, which is Skipp, Soumare or Hamza. But knowing he's considered a leadership figure after his multiple incidents over the past few years sums us up for the clown show we are.
  7. Wrong forum, you want this one fella - https://forum.charltonlife.com
  8. 10 point deduction now puts us in the relegation zone by the way. At this point fook it, just for the optics. See if this shower of clown piss have it in them to fight another relegation battle. I think we actually go down continuing to play the usual suspects though, that's the scary bit. Unless Marti stops being a coward and puts some trust in the youth alongside those in the squad who are actually performing, the rot will continue. If the morons on the board blink first and ditch him - and let's be real, it will be for Russell Martin, the person they have the second biggest inexplicable boner for behind Graham Potter - things will get even worse. There's nothing to be optimistic for unless Marti grows a pair - we're at that much of a crossroads I feel. I guess the issue is, the KPFC sycophants will just double-down on how hard-done by we are and think "ohhh it's so unfair, poor Top, poor Jon, poor Sus-oh wait she's left". The club could fold and they'd swear it wasn't even slightly self-inflicted.
  9. Think I'm Marti out after that to be honest, he isn't capable of motivating these clowns enough and his selections are baffling. Soumare in particular should have a restraining order placed on him by everyone at Seagrave yet continues to embarrass us. Issue is, I don't trust the pricks in the boardroom to choose someone capable of putting a rocket up them. As others have warned, it's got Russell Bastard Martin written all over it. I hate this club. Sell up Top.
  10. Can we just have the points deduction and get it over and done with please? At this point I'm truly beyond caring, spawning our way straight back up would just mean these charlatans continue to embarrass us. The only issue is that we already know the mentality they have in a relegation scrap.
  11. Yeah but consider Hamza bengledash 🇧🇩🇧🇩 our king best Hemza 🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩 Hamza 🇧🇩🇧🇩 So proud hemza bangla hamza 🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
  12. Ah ok, it is the tonking we've deserved all season after all. Strap in folks, it's gonna get ugly
  13. Nah this is the good half
  14. Twat
  15. Winks is going to be sulking around the pitch with that partnership again isn't he? Ah well, at least we have a strong bench by our standards... most of the shite is starting
  16. (there is also the option of occasionally giving JJ Ramsey and Winks a full 90, I honestly think those three with tired legs are still preferable for the last half hour than continuing to chase the dragon of getting a performance out of Bouba and Skipp)
  17. At this point I'd honestly rather start them. At least then we don't have to see the team deflate before our eyes when the subs are made on the hour. Who knows, could even spawn a goal first half to keep us in it. We don't have strength in depth whatever anyone says. But I'd rather see JJ, Ramsey, maybe Page come on chasing a 1-0 deficit for the last half hour than watch us pathetically fail to defend a 1-0 lead with half-arsed players we've all seen more than enough of.
  18. 1-4 win tonight i have absolutely zero basis for this claim but still 1-4
  19. Ahhh, almost vintage there
  20. Nice to watch a team with quick transitions and not afraid to play through the centre of the park either.
  21. Nice early goal, 1-0 Cremonese
  22. Anyone go to this? I've been a fan for years and was kind of gutted I couldn't make it because of work. Sounds like it was a massive success though, so hopefully makes a return sooner rather than later. Few rikishi I'm a personal fan of: Aonishiki - Ukrainian and shooting up the ranks - there are always a handful of overseas wrestlers in and around the top division but he's been absolutely smashing it, talks of him being the first Yokozuna (top rank) from outside the far east one day. Takayasu - AKA Papayasu, the hairy angel. Came second in the very first tournament I ever watched and has gone from being a bit of a "heel" to a much-loved Rikishi who always gets close but has a remarkable ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Lost count of how many times he's lost the final day playoff now - truly the Spursiest man in Sumo, but I love him anyway. Shodai - old dog who was once on the cusp of the top ranks but then fell off big time. Honestly a lot expected him to retire but he's stuck around and, while you can flip a coin as to whether he shows up at a tournament or not, he's still capable of causing mischief - finished September's basho with a 10-5 record. You'd be surprised how much athleticism is on show in these tournaments. Some fighters are absolute units but the smaller guys often go for speed rather than power, which can lead to some fascinating bouts. A curse on anyone who henka's at the start though.
  23. I'd be inclined to agree, but that embarrassing miss against Cov tells me it would be more of the same until he finds a way to sort whatever's going on in his brain. In an ideal world Evans gets a go and shows our "senior professionals" up in a similar way to how Monga, ironically, has done with Stephy. Then again, while Marti keeps being a coward with regards to our youth options it's never going to happen. Of the three I'd persist with Daka at the moment, purely because he does more for the players around him. But it's an embarrassing situation all round.
  24. I'm just glad there's a quick turnaround and I don't have to stew on two dropped points and that shite second half. Just two days and then we can have all-new things to be annoyed about!
  25. https://old.reddit.com/r/CelticFC/comments/1oanh5h/brendan_rodgers_again Read this thread. You could honestly just change the player names and paint the screen blue and it might as well be this forum in 2022/23. The man is a fraud.
