  1. Thanks not seen that so will have watch it
  2. Just to add love a good courtroom drama at the centre of a film. 12 Angry Men and Paths of Glory come to mind though of course the court martial is only a part of the latter picture
  3. Agreed. All those elements coming together some of which the viewer doesn't often think about. Must admit a big fan of some of the old films be they colour or black and white
  4. Nearly forgot how good Jose Ferrer and Fred MacMurray and Co were
  5. Not only a good film but led to Michael Caine taking the name
  6. To an extent but not as desperate as back then.
  7. Before the 20th century I would think most working class people were too desperate trying to find enough money to survive
  8. Tragic incident at the car park of Hitchin Town FC. Two men killed unloading glass panels in what appears to be a terrible accident
  9. I was more thinking of reactions here. See very little to question if all that counter protest or support Palestinian Action have only pure intent without malice
  10. It seems only the intent of those flying union and England fans comes into question but not others
  11. Questioning motives of some or all engaged in flag waving or is that thought policing
  12. Do we need to question the motives of all flag wavers if division may result
  13. Ah yes the volley against Newcastle. Going back further Ken Keyworth in 1963 cup final
  14. I wonder if in some small way the England and Union flags were a reaction to the Palestinian flags appearing up and down the country
  15. That goal for what it meant after our FA Cup history is good enough for me. While I'm here shout out to Mahrez goals home to Spurs and Chelsea in the title season
  16. Enjoyed seeing the power of Heskey and the finishing of Cottee again
  17. I get your drift but Begovic is only 38
  18. Yes the Banks game is legendary. Another is a young Peter Shilton at Spurs in December 1967. Foiled Greaves and Co and Alan Tewley scored the winner for us.
  19. Only thing I know about Congleton is my Dad did his army motorcycle course there in ww2
  20. De La Zouch spells it out
  21. Interesting about the Union flag when you look at the 1966 World Cup. Almost all England games the Union flag in evidence rather than St George's Cross. Looking at my own family certainly English on my paternal side but a mix of English, Scots and Irish on maternal side. I feel both English and British. In the past happy to leave see Union flag on public buildings etc. For example I remember visiting Lincoln Castle which happened to be 23 April. St George's flag that day but otherwise the Union flag. Great shame that everybody living in England cannot feel comfortable when they see the flag except when the football team is playing
  22. That the English were not all that concerned with waving flags in the past allowed the far right to claim. Great shame really.
  23. I don't think you can condemn a whole generation as if they are all the same and often votes have been split across the various parties. Trouble is the first past post system
  24. How many is some? Just have time to type as currently looking after grandchild
