  1. I think she should have been more specific in targeting the bigots rather than rambling
  2. Glad she ain't my mp
  3. Perhaps Dawn Butler should take up football or formula 1 instead
  4. What is Labour MP Dawn Butler on about in her so called poem. Surely it is racist claptrap that would be pounced on if reversed and coming from a white MP leading to the sack. Not reported by BBC it seems
  5. I think the official reason was the fear of spread of communism in south east Asia though that does seem mad looking back
  6. And of course the Aussies were in Vietnam for their own reasons I guess.
  7. Thank goodness Harold Wilson resisted pressure to directly involve British forces in that particular madness
  8. Yes, no easy way to fight a war. Mind I wonder what alternative way the allies had to fight ww2
  9. As Jack Carter said in a thin glass!
  10. I wouldn't worry if it means child behaves and rest of restaurant can enjoy their meal
  11. Been retired 3 years now. My granddaughter was born 4 days after I retired. My wife and me do quite a bit of looking after her while Mum and Dad work. Also see a lot of our grandson. Enjoy the garden and walking which is great for mental as well as physical health. Try not to get too wound up about Leicester City and sometimes succeed
  12. I think to consolidate in League One is the main target. The owner has shown ambition. The difficulty is the small budget and ground should they reach the championship. They done well in FA Cup over years against Villa and Newcastle. I remember when Leicester played them in cup back in our League One season and Stevenage were non League. Luckily Leicester won that one otherwise lots of my friends and family that live in Stevenage would have ribbed me no end. You are right about the Leicester born lad. There have been one or two others over the years with a Leicester connection
  13. Cheers. It really is a friendly club that works hard to attract new fans. Stevenage is a town that traditionally has lots Spurs, Arsenal and other London club fans. Quite a few go to Stevenage as much cheaper to go with kids etc. As a result for many younger fans Stevenage is their club. As the original Stevenage Town and Athletic clubs both went bust the rise of the current club from 1976 is quite something for the town to celebrate
  14. Hope you enjoy your move. For adults East Terrace standing is £22. West Stand seats for adults £26.
  15. He was wrong then too
  16. Agree with you. Mind a lot of the grounds were neglected and clubs did not spend too much on upkeep
  17. I occasionally go with grandson to watch his local team Stevenage in League One. We sit in the family area. Tidy little ground and a friendly atmosphere and football OK.
  18. I'm a lot older than you so my growing watching football was 60s and 70s. I might just be old and jaded but I agree with you. I think it is the overload of money at the top that makes it more difficult to compete and leads to boredom.
  19. She has gone home now. We've had dinner so feeling warmer
  20. The sage in Lincolnshire sausages is the vital ingredient for me
  21. Had young granddaughter with us this afternoon so popped it on for a bit.
  22. As a Labour supporter the problem for me is on the one hand Starmer and Reeves telling us how hard the near future is but at same time taking freebies all over the shop. Makes them look out of touch and even if not against the law will obviously mean questions asked.
  23. Bit like Brit boxers back in the day fighting in US. Had to win by a knockout as no chance of a points win
  24. I think most of us can take it on the chin if beaten fair and square without dubious ref decisions but there is a pattern developing that is worrying
  25. The ref was oh so quick to give our bloke the yellow for his reaction to the foul but strangely did not book the Arsenal player for what was obviously a second yellow.
