Now I’ve slept on it - the headlines for me were:
- we were by far the better team for the majority of the game. Defended well until 80mins and looked dangerous on the break.
- Daka created our first goal with fantastic ingenuity from an awful corner (don’t think it was a training ground set piece) but his miss towards the end was criminal.
- a degree of sympathy for him as he didn’t try anything elaborate (lace it top bin) but simply miss timed his placed shot into the corner of the goal. This happens but frustrating that it was after several other big chances.
- Mavidi should have finished his chance but looked on the replay that Meslier might have got the slightest touch - am I being optimistic?
- the offside goal is critical as if given it kills the game. It is a very difficult call for the linesman who has a lateral view of it through several other bodies, and the position of the ball on the defender’s shoulder with Hamza directly behind makes it very hard to see who it came off. VAR obviously gives it but to what detriment to the enjoyment of the rest of the game…
- Leeds didn’t deserve anything from the game and their famous fans were pathetic for the majority of the match; however when they smelt blood they went in for the kill and that should be commended. They’ve played like this since the Bielsa days.
- I still think we win the league but I do think we will struggle in the EPL.
- We desperately need a half decent striker.
- Enzo didn’t do much wrong but he has a big call on whether to show loyalty to Daka and show faith to play him next week, or drop him for Cannon.
