  1. He has got to go. His position is untenable! £10M compensation is a drop in the ocean if we go down. He’s cooked
  2. Bottom of the league looking relatively comfortable. We are doomed!
  3. Managed to make himself as small as possible, again!
  4. He’s just turned his back on the shot! Unbelievable
  5. Danny Ward marking the front post 😆
  6. Looks like the work experience kid has been reading the Foxestalk’s ‘January 2023’ thread 😆 https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/topic/130073-january-2023/?do=findComment&comment=6774415
  7. Unless you know categorically that he willingly left for ‘warmer climes’ then your reasoning is equally speculative… suspect it was probably a combination of the two.
  8. Think we would all rather have an overweight KS than Danny Ward.
  9. Good point on Kasper - it all felt very strange at the time that our captain and first choice goalkeeper was let go without any fanfare, fee or obvious replacement. With hindsight, I suspect KS was strongly challenging BR methods in the dressing room and was quickly shown the door to avoid further disruption. A bad move for everyone involved!
  10. Team playing like total strangers. Mind you, we’ve only had 6 weeks to prepare for this game…
  11. Needless to say it is a huge game for us! A win will take us out of the relegation zone and hopefully allow us to kick on into the WC break albeit some tough fixtures ahead. Defensively we have been much more solid of late, and Wolves have only scored more than one goal once this season so in theory a good time to play them. I am expecting an attacking line up and back us to outscore them.
  12. Toilet🚽
  13. Far too passive. Allowing Bournemouth to dictate and come on to us. Subs needed!
  14. Agreed. Two chances for Johnson from memory, which both could have been punished if he had taken a better touch.
  15. Great for him get the clean sheet but thought he looked vulnerable all game.
  16. We may as well stick a lad from the U18s in goal. He would have the same level of presence and reach as Ward. I’ve never seen a Premier League keeper look so small and ineffective. He cannot start next week.
  17. We looked good in spells today but as ever let down by the same things: 1) unable to defend set pieces; 2) inability to play out from the back; and 3) ponderous play without any direction. I’m not even angry as it’s the same outcome every week. Danny Ward looks like a child in goal; no presence or ability to cover the goal. Two goals were down to his lack of presence. Even the shot he tipped onto the bar was a regulation save for 80% of the league. He needs to be dropped. I think they will give him until Forest but will have made contact with available managers to gauge interest. Lose and he is done with or without a new manager on standby.
  18. Heard Priti Patel is soon to be available and is pretty quick.
  19. Sack him now. Wait much longer and the league will be done for us.
  20. Ben Mee announcing he will leave Burnley. Back up option? Pros - PL experience and strong leadership as current Burnley captain, which we are lacking throughout the squad. Option to alternate with Evans when fitness dictates. Would also be available on a free and probably lower wages than Tarkowski. Cons - Might not improve on what we have, and patchy fitness last season. Also, a bit older at 32 than other targets.
  21. Taking this season out of the equation, he has been very successful whilst here, but rightly our league performance and the capitulation at Forest are raising questions. In my humble opinion, we should give him the summer and the first half of next season and then reevaluate. Even if we don’t improve, his style of football and a full strength squad should get us a mid-table finish without much problem unless there is a player mutiny.
  22. Roma are a decent side but if you needed an example of how limited we are under Brendan that was it. Achieved next to nothing over 79 minutes despite needing a goal to keep us in the semi final of a bloody European cup!
  23. Awful! Didn’t lay a glove on them and inevitably conceded from a corner.
  24. Great post! Personally, anything between 5-9th should be seen as a successful season for us. We do not have the funds to outcompete the traditional ‘Top 6’ every season, particularly if they are all firing, and are therefore reliant on one of them having a poor season and us being the best of the rest. The pattern we have seen over the last two seasons in us dropping out the Top-4 late on is just that - big team having a poor start to the season, sacking their manager and then a significant second half improvement allowing them to slowly reel us in with their superior squad depth/lack of cup competitions. It goes without saying that this season has been a decline, which can in part be mitigated by the number of injuries and poor signings. I do however worry that Brendan, has at best become a little complacent or worse lost some of his ambition! The inability to adapt our playing style to the team available or correct basic mistakes at set pieces this season (irrespective of available players) are key indications. Yes, winning the European Conference League would be a great achievement for the club and get us European football again, but in the backdrop of an underwhelming performance in all of the other primary competitions (EPL, EL, FA & LC). Putting this seasons to one side and last years FA Cup win, we have been pretty awful for the last 12-18 months, and our transfer dealing not much better. This summer and the first half of next season is huge for us and Brendan. We would be incredibly unlucky to experience the same plague of injuries we’ve had this season again, and if we do, serious questions have to be asked about the training regime, medical staff. For me, if we are in the bottom half of the league by the WC break without a clear improvement in performance then Brendan will be thanked for his service but shown the door. Nothing I have seen this season, makes me think another manager couldn’t come in and get better results out of this squad.
