I think it's worse to be honest. I wanted Lookman like most did, but given his best position was also filled by Barnes his signing wasn't anywhere near as essential as this would be. JJ is our best player, Lookman wasn't close. The drop off from JJ to whoever fills those shoes is vast compared to Ademolas absence.

We haven't got the money to break the transfer record again.

I'm going full fxxking Poirot on this one and saying he's been brought in for the u21 side as he's not getting the minutes for Chelseas u21 side with the emergence of Mhueka and we're light after loaning out Evans.

I already asked this in the other thread with this rumour mentioned, but are we sure he's signing for the senior side? His U21 contract is up in the summer.

I think people forget the difference he can make as a sweeper keeper compared to the majority of champ keepers.

Our blank against Charlton is the first game in 13 where we haven't scored. We do lack a competent striker but we don't lack goals. We score enough to be far more competitive. But we're only above Wednesday and WBA for goals against. Our defence is shit.

To be fair when he had Mav, Daka and Fatty as the front 3 we scored goals. Patson did alright.

Maybe we get big Willy Cab instead...

No. It serves no purpose in appeasing fans. It's a rumour that will either come to fruition or not in a day or two. And given as you say it looks like it almost certainly won't happen, how does this appease anybody or give them false hope for the benefit of those you think are doing it to appease people? If anything it does the exact opposite. If it drums up any kind of hope/goodwill or whatever you think it's supposed to be doing it's not given a timeframe long enough to work and it comes with the issue that it then has the opposite effect almost immediately after it's been done. I get the idea of spurious rumours before next seasons season tickets are up for sale/renewal, giving false hope to fans with the idea in mind to get them to commit before you ultimately do nothing but by then it's too late, but this situation doesn't work like that.

What do you see as the solution there though? Or even what do you see as the problem? He left us in 2022 from our U21 side for Swindon in League two. We were a Premier League side. He had no discernible market value at that time. So what would you do differently, given that was 3-4 years ago now? Given him a professional contract and loaned him out?
