Yeah it’s a shame because a big, inebriated crowd would have be having a field day with Pusey songs

I don’t care what your take is. I’m enjoying a nice thing the Knicks did, that’s all. Go back to Ohio.

4-4-2 big man little man, can’t go wrong Cheers bob

I think you’re overlooking that Curaçao won their group over a Jamaican side that is full of English players that “qualify via ancestry” and forgetting just how good that Iceland team was.

Not the greatest game but very happy with the win. Also very happy to see the belated return of three long-lost things: -Daka finishing touch -Mavididi killer instinct -a team that went in hard in challenges and showed some proper hate for their opposition

I did not have Tyler Glasnow save ending with a 7-4 double play anywhere in the realm of possibilities for tonight. Baseball really is amazing.

Pete Walker deserves a raise this winter. Nobody can hit his pitchers’ splitters now.

This series would be over already had the Schneider and the Jays not been riverboat gamblers with pinch runners + taking extra bases in Game 3. Don't take that as a diss on the Blue Jays—those outs on the basepaths are only noticeable because the Jays are otherwise playing great ball in almost every other facet of the game. Starting pitching was supposed to be a key advantage for the Dodgers but the Jays get the edge in these first five games even with Yamamoto’s performance. Snell just took his second L while the kid Yesavage was so much more ready for his second start. I mean I’d love for Yamamoto to toss another gem just so we can get a Game 7 but who’s to say that Gausman won’t be solid again on Friday night? Nothing changes how I’ve felt since before Game 1–the Jays get this done one way or another.

Toronto’s the only team that can take the Dodgers out of their comfort zone, even with LA’s pitching lining up at the right time. Home field advantage is going to be huge here. Hell, I’ve just put a fiver on Toronto +180.

I’m afraid the gambling = bad argument against City renewing their deal with BC Game is going to go nowhere. That may well be the proper moral stance, but that is also a much bigger discussion. It also a discussion in which many City fans who do enjoy a bet aren’t really going to be interested in participating. This is another murky deal with a company that’s likely an illegitimate enterprise, and possibly even a criminal enterprise if Josimar’s allegations truly have substance. I am very worried that regular fans are doing more due diligence about BC Game than the club itself. I am also very worried there’s dirty money in both this this deal and the last one, and that this sponsorship deal is a short-term fix that can expose the club to a much greater danger in the long term. City should not be making deals with an enterprise that operates like BC Game, no matter what industry they are in.

Buck Martinez? Is that you? 😆

A day and a half later and I still don’t have a coherent reply because I’m still crashing out over this

On second thought maybe let’s not do this 😂

I disagree on the extent to which payroll inequality is a problem. I see it as a small problem, but not a crisis. https://www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article/96115/veteran-presence-of-inequality-mobility-and-salary-caps/ I see the risk of a protracted labor stoppage in 2027 when the owners try to force their way to a salary cap as a much bigger problem.

Let’s do this @spacemunky @CheeseHead! 😄

Not taking anything away from Cleveland’s September as it was an incredible run, but maybe you should have been less worried about the big payroll bogeymen and more concerned about the Detroit Tigers.

At least USA saved some face but what do you know? All of the little things the European camp does in the build up to the Ryder Cup that my side just refuses to do wound up deciding it in the end this time. Any way you win a Ryder Cup outright on the other side of the ocean is a good way to win it. I’ll curse at Keegan Bradley but I’ll begrudgingly tip my cap to Europe for a job well done. It’s better to play foursomes and fourball when you have team spirit. It’s better to have a captain that carefully selects players with complimentary skills in foursomes and players that can play for birdie in different styles in fourball. It’s worth the time and effort to build a siege mentality in your team before going away so they show up on Friday ready to use the atmosphere as fuel if it gets combustible instead of being distracted by it. And I will be damn sure in 2027 and 2031 that Europe doesn’t neuter any advantages its home course can provide. Yeah there was a lot of talk about Sunday being the USA’s best chance to put a lot of red on the scoreboard but shouldn’t that mean a captain be as meticulous as possible to squeeze an extra half or whole point out of the 16 available on Friday and Saturday? Picking the worst foursome pairing possible by both the analytics and they eye test and then *running them back out there on Saturday morning* is just something that I will never understand. Well, now that this is over I am looking forward to getting back into the sport and on the course next spring so I can start moaning about my own poor play instead of Collin Morikawa’s.

Forget the rough, the toughest grass out there was Rahm and Hatton’s beards, we just couldn’t handle that level of bearditude in a morning session.
-
I don’t really care. It’s a golf crowd, not Eurovision.

There might not be a group in world sport that can summon team spirit quite like the Europe Ryder Cup team. You guys really have a remarkable tradition and every two years your players all appreciate the things about the Ryder Cup that are bigger than the game. The only time the USA has really come close to developing a team culture of our own in this generation was at Whistling Straits where they played up the pure talent in the squad and walked around the course with swagger all week. But then LIV came around and killed this ethos, while the top Europeans support each other and cheer each other on even when spread out across the world and several tours. Rory was front and center of the PGA/LIV thing but that hasn’t seemed to hurt Europe’s team spirit one bit (at least that’s how I see it). - As for the other comments about the American fans, I just roll my eyes at the histrionics from the other side of the Atlantic. Even for the different standard of behavior at golf than other sports I just find the European complaints to be precious to the highest degree. People might yell out stupid things from time to time but it’s just a golf crowd with a little extra juice, nobody really crosses any lines. We’ll cheer our players, someone will shout “mashed potatoes!”, the traveling fans will sing their adorable little “everywhere they gooo” song and nobody will get hurt. I hope that the crowd goes nuts at Bethpage and does NYC and Long Island justice, but even if I factor this in, it will be just fine and I don’t expect anything that should cause anyone to get all worked up. The fans have been very respectful during the practice rounds this week so I don’t see things going from one end of the spectrum to the other in two days. Besides, only the cruelest of characters could boo Tommy Fleetwood with their whole hearts.

That was rugged defending by City for 90 minutes, very well done in that department. Yeah, honestly, what the hell was that?! There’s just no way O’Brien could have said anything toward the ref that was anywhere near worthy enough for a second yellow and a sending off. Unbelievable.
