I’m not sure I get this. I get the feeling (from the last manager searches, games against Martin, Martin’s odd style of communicating to the media, and everything in between) that Russell Martin might be one of the most universally disliked managers among the City fan base. A lot of fans young and old, KPFC and “Sack the Board” alike soured on Enzo Maresca. Without passing judgment on Enzo’s style in this thread, we are likely hiring a manager that uses a worse version of Maresca’s strategy and tactics and already has a poor reputation among our fan base. This is not going to go over well; only the freakiest of fetishists will be knocking one out over this hire.

We also had no idea how Nigel Pearson would build a team when he first came along as his only experience was scrapping and/or being an interim manager firefighter. There are a lot of other factors at play in City’s current decision for sure (this new manager might not have as much leeway from the board to bring in his own Steve Walsh, for example) but success and failure come in many shapes, forms, and CV templates.

All of the reasons here why City shouldn’t hire Fuchs and should hire an “experienced” manager are cliches. Michael Skubala and Brian Barry-Murphy didn’t exactly have CVs with a ton of accomplishments as first team managers before they took their respective current jobs and look where they took their clubs last season. Ruud van Nistelrooy and Gary Rowett have much different backgrounds and both of them were equally unsuccessful here.

This is not a problem.

It is, because it shows an entire nation of fans do not understand the handball law

The video couldn’t be more clear that the hand played the ball Does the hand move deliberately to the ball? Yes Does the hand make the defender’s silhouette bigger? Also yes Does the hand clearly contact the ball? Again, yes Either I’m taking crazy pills or nobody understands handball as it’s laid out in Law 12.

This has been an electric opening to the MLB season. With all due respect to Chase DeLauter (!!!!), JJ Wetherholt, Andres Gimenez, and the Yankees’ pitching: the highlight of the young season so far is CB Bucknor getting embarrassed by ABS.

Bilal El Khannouss to Stuttgart Permanent - Confirmed by Stuttgart

City had no leverage in this deal. El Khannouss made it perfectly clear he wasn’t staying and threatened to sit out the entire season and neither he nor his agent could be convinced to take a more reasonable stance. City were reportedly asking for £30m in the summer, a figure that the football world found a little ridiculous at the time. El Khannouss did all right last year but let’s be real, nearly every other Premier League club already has a midfielder on his level so it’s not like he raised his valuation that much in less than a year. City were advanced in discussions with Palace but those negotiations fell apart late as they decided to turn their attention to other players (Pino) and resolving the other soap opera storylines within their club at the time. Spurs may have inquired but Palace was the only club that was really serious and even then he wasn’t part of their Plan A. I’m blaming El Khannouss’ intransigence and the other bad business Rudkin did to put together a team that was utterly hopeless last season on this situation. City had to get rid of him one way or another. Seeing where we are now makes me wish there were more players that City could have sold for a little less than the transfer fee paid, we might be in a situation that’s at least a little less awful. -
This was a great Olympics even taking away how ridiculously happy I am about USA sweeping gold in hockey. Everything I saw indicated this ran seamlessly despite the event hubs in different cities. Most things I’ve heard from athletes and fans about their experiences were overwhelmingly positive. After all the construction issues and delays with the hockey arena in Milan, the only noticeable problem seemed to be that their only beer selection was 10 oz Corona bottles. I also think (aside from some of the poor AI art) that this Olympics integrated tech into it to enhance the viewing experience. The biggest example is the drone shots that made nearly everything look so much cooler, especially the skiing events. Even the mascots were 10/10! Also seeing some of the comments here got me thinking that one of the other reasons why a lot of us love the Winter Olympics might be because that it’s a lot easier to follow and process. That’s certainly the case with me. These games had 116 medal events in 16 sports. LA28 will have 353 medal events in 36 sports. I’m a sports sicko but even I have to admit the scale of Summer Olympics is just insanely huge, even for something that’s held every four years. Don’t get me wrong, I still like the Summer Games, but I do so in a different way. In 2028 I’ll just think: OK Olympics, just bombard me with everything you’ve got and I’ll see if I can survive it. With the Winter Olympics, I feel like I have enough time to enjoy everything and follow along with the storylines in all the events. It’s exciting sports drama, but besides crunch time in gold medal hockey games vs Canada, it proceeds at a pleasant pace. [edit: it helps when some of those aforementioned storylines are really funny… looking at you, biathletes.]

Another huge drop in performance after halftime has me firmly in the Cifuentes Out camp now, but I’m not even passionately angry at our manager because I just don’t trust the board to bring in anyone better. I am waffling back and forth thinking the club should eat the comp, get rid of Cifuentes and Calm, and let King ride this to the end of the season … and then I think about how unfair it is to put a proper “club servant” and good fellow in this kind of situation.

I didn’t buy anything. I just posted “GO NEW YORK GO” in this thread, said I was enjoying a nice win and told you to do what I’m about to tell you again: go back to Ohio.

The only persons anywhere close to Luke Littler’s level were the Sky Sports production team who had a wasp montage to “Black and Yellow” ready to go tonight. There were maybe a few things about the crowd on at some points during this tournament that irritated me but all in all it was another fantastic exhibition of darts and entertainment. The expanded field and larger prize pools this year were both smashing successes IMO.

Couple of questions to UFS—and I’m going to ask these questions as someone that thinks KP need to go and that anyone going to bat for KP these days is weird 1) why do you think that guy thought he could walk up to your drum, kick it, start some s**t, and essentially get away with it? 2) what are some lessons that you can learn from “ultras” in Europe that have some influence on your actions as a group that can help you ensure that incidents like tonight’s do not happen again in the future?

Aiyawatt’s gambit to put a customer service manager in as interim CEO is going about as well as anyone could have expected. I can’t wait for either this guy to decide that owning this club is getting in the way of his polo playing or the Thai government to finally understand he’s way more trouble than he’s worth.

The darts just get better and better (well except for Wright who looked like a mess) How am I going to cope with the Christmas with the tournament already at this kind of level?! I guess I can watch a replay of Hood vs Noppert, don’t think one viewing can do that match justice! 🐧

Evans vs Manby is going to be showtime

That felt like the quickest 4 sets I’ve ever seen, pure power darts from Gian From what I’m watching I’ve thought the crowd in both the first round and tonight have been awesome to Gates. I love the cheers and chants he’s getting to back him. I just don’t think this isn’t the night for the crowd to go wild for him, I mean, they want to cheer for Aspinall too and I don’t blame them one bit, he’s English and a likable player in his own right (even if he’s not as good of a dancer as the Soulger).

Evans vs Wade 🥵 this is why we love the darts!
