There’s nothing in the laws of the game and nothing in the EFL Handbook that give any guidance on how goals should be awarded to individual players. So, for anyone that’s 100% certain that it’s Ndidi’s goal: it’s probably a good idea to take that down a few percentage points. At this point, the EFL probably doesn’t consider this a big enough deal to review.

I don’t necessarily think that Iheanacho isn’t a fit for Enzo’s style. He has a tendency to drop into the midfield and that’s something required of the striker in Enzo’s system, plus Iheanacho is more of a pass first striker. It’s just that Daka might actually be a better fit for this system than any of us ever thought, Iheanacho can undo his play with a poor first touch or a lack of focus, he can’t both drop deep and then quickly occupy the opposing back line like Daka can, and Iheanacho is also out of contract this summer. So I absolutely agree with you that Iheanacho should be the striker that we move on in January.

I like Daka and I’ve wanted him to succeed because he seems like a very decent fellow. With that said, I really thought it just wasn’t working for him here for a few reasons. It’s difficult for anybody to be the “Vardy replacement,” but an even tougher task if you don’t play with the snarl and grit that helped make Vardy famous. It’s hard to explain, but I just don’t see those attributes in Daka’s mindset. He’s just… too nice? Today, though, he showed real resilience. He fluffed a few early chances but kept at it (he missed arguably a great back post chance vs Plymouth in the 1st half too, but bounced back). And he took a beating from Millwall today (some of those tackles were awful and Daka’s shins were both bloodied up a bit), yet after he let himself take a few secs to get his bearings back, just kept getting back up and getting on with it. I can also go on and on about the more technical/tactical side of his performance tonight (which was superb) but for me I just loved seeing him play with a smile on his face that disguised a fire inside. Millwall thought they could kick him out of the game and wound up only hurting themselves. Who knows, maybe Maresca is being coy, Daka is still down the pecking order, and he’s still viewed as an asset we can afford to sell in January. If not, then I would be thrilled if him taking this chance he’s gotten really is the start of bigger and better things for him at City.

If some of our own fans are frustrated with City’s style of play then imagine how fed up other teams’s players, coaches, and fans are. I’m happy we’re boring them to death.

City didn’t get a punishment for one alleged breach that the EFL was investigating. City and the EFL settled and agreed that City did not deliberately breach any rules and that City would pay the EFL £3.1m. It might seem like semantics but this is a big distinction. If we want to go all the way back to administration days then that’s such a different issue that it’s not even worth explaining. As for Man City, they have been charged with 115 breaches over a multi year period. Everton have been charged with a major violation of FFP and while we are still light on the details, nobody has (or can) really conclusively explain where the over £300m loss has gone. It’s also fair to note that these are different charges under a different league with different rules and different resolution processes than the EFL, and these cases could wind up in a much different outcome than City’s—namely, that Everton are found guilty and given a major sanction including a points deduction. It would be a dereliction of duty for City’s board of directors, who are obligated to act in the best interests (including fiduciary interests) of the club, to not take action against Everton if Everton are found guilty and if there are legal recourses available to City to do so. .

Whatever issues City had with “bending the rules” City may have had and this Everton situation are so completely different. Edit: this last line was out of order so I’m deleting it and I’m sorry to @SemperEadem for writing it.

I don’t hear any disdain about Leicester, it’s more so Wright was expressing some disbelief that he was watching the same player that (aside from notable performances vs Man Utd and Wolves) looked nowhere near Premier League level when he was at Leicester.

Enzo didn’t even bother giving Soumaré a chance this preseason, and I haven’t seen anything so far that’s leading me to doubt Enzo on any decision he’s made except maybe his choice of sport coat to wear on his first day on the job (and I’m even starting to come around to that check pattern blazer too).
