Can anyone explain the rationale behind starting Ward in the second half?

Alright Chelsea he's yours!
-
It's crazy to think that just a year ago, he was the club's fifth choice. Now, he's back as the backup, just a transfer or injury away from starting.
-
I wouldn't say "no way" when it comes to this club. The negligence shown in the past proves they're more than capable of it.

If Hermansen gets sold and Stolarczyk is out with an ankle injury, with Iversen not even getting a pop at goal against Shrewsbury, our number one will likely be the guy with the number 1 shirt on: Ward.

Early days but Okoli gave me Danny Amartey vibes.
-
We're being dominated by a League One team filled with trialists.
-
Don't pass it back to Ward ffs.
-
We're ****ed. I had a feeling this might happen after seeing today's line-up. If Hermansen gets sold and Stolarchyk is out with a long-term injury, Ward will likely be the starting goalkeeper, won't he?

Don't need him when you got Wards.

https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/leicester-city-must-remember-relegation-9429649 Look at the statistics for the 22-23 season, and the worst-performing keepers by the measure of post-shot expected goals – how likely shots on target faced by a keeper will find the net based on the league average – were Gavin Bazunu, Illan Meslier, Dean Henderson, and Danny Ward. Among that quartet are the number ones for the three teams who went down, Southampton and Leeds joining City in the drop zone.

Add to that the fact that our run in the last Euros couldn't have been more tailored for us to win. Every game was played at Wembley, there were barely any opposition fans, and we got a soft penalty in the semis after a Sterling dive. I doubt Southgate would even manage to qualify for the Euros with a squad like Switzerland's, let alone the majority of the opposition we've now faced.
