  1. ah fair, haven't been in over a year so will assess next month!
  2. Broadway was decent last week, but think I prefer 3 Kilns meaning my top 3 is now Paddy's, Little Club and 3 Kilns. It's good value Broadway, but I don't really enjoy the experience of sitting in there. Not sure whether I like the half pub/half Indian restaurant thing. I prefer it when you turn an old pub exclusively into an Indian restaurant like Paddy's. Going Little Club in 3 weeks so will see if that's still upto scratch!
  3. I'm not great on pub food, but I think the decent ones are The Griffin in Swithland and the Blue Bell in Rothley. Oggi is a good Italian in Syston if you want something a bit different.
  4. Specifically pub grub or anything?
  5. No doubt it's got a great brand and history. It's what Bass could have been over here if it wasn't broken up. They added the nitrogen to it in 1959 so what we drink today is completely different to what it was in the first half of the 20th century.
  6. I enjoy a pint of Guinness for sure, but it’s all the bullshit/marketing around it. It’s a corporate/macro beer. You’re drinking the same stuff in the U.K. as they are in Ireland (it’s all imported here from Dublin). It’s a carbonated keg beer that keeps fresh for ages and profile doesn't change. Its like seeking out the perfect pint of Stella. Maybe I’m just bitter because I’d rather people cared about cask ale which actually differs from venue to venue 😂
  7. https://yorkmix.com/revealed-the-pub-that-will-replace-the-maltings-in-york/ Been a bit of a backlash on Twitter. Is this the real world impact of Guinness becoming a tik tok beer?
  8. I have the Exact same issue. We are trying to sell both but one is proving trickier to shift! You can reclaim the additional 5% back if you sell the second house within 3 years of purchasing the new property, subject to a few technicalities.
  9. Yeh Istanbul in Barrow is good - I go regularly - and is certainly very good for a village. Still not quite top tier though. They don't do any fresh salads and breads. I swear those places are Franchise models. There seems to be near identical looking places all over (eg Istanbul Market Bosworth and Istanbul West Bridgford etc).
  10. I'm yet to find a top quality Turkish place in the city or shire which can match up to the places on Green Lanes in London. Efes Mangal was decent and Konak too (Konak annoyingly don't serve beer). Best one in the shire was probably IMGE in Coalville.
  11. The lamb chops, fish pakora, green fish sizzler, chili mogo/paneer, lamb on the bone curry, and garlic fried rice are all top notch! I'm off to Broadway next Wednesday. Got 6 of us going, so going to order the Chef Special Sizzler and see how it compares to Soho Tavern in Birmingham.
  12. Three Crowns is great- I live in Barrow and was there on Saturday night and the value was still good. I actually think Ghurka New Delhi in Sorrel is even better (it was only marked down on their scores because they had bad service on a Wednesday night). Both are not quite as good as some of the best ones in the city itself, but are certainly excellent for village offerings.
  13. I was in the away end when we got relegated and they got promoted and was quite disappointed with their atmosphere. Was expecting a lot more. Maybe it's because it was 0-0 so they didn't get a chance to properly lift off. They made some noise on the pitch at the end.
  14. Sounds like I've got a day out planned already
  15. I think they've got a restaurant in Market Harborough too? Will have to check it out sometime. Opposite side of the county for me though!
  16. make sure you get the crispy aubergine at Little Club!
  17. Top 3 is hard! Probs Paddy's, Little Club and Broadway. Some of the best stuff at Paddy's is off the menu (lollipop chicken, auntie's special chips, and lamb on the bone curry). The ones I rate are Broadway, Little Club, Paddy's, Ghurka New Delhi (Mountsorrel), Indian Queen (think current owners have just left though), Three kilns and Ghurka at The Wyvern. Need to go in a decent group though and order loads of stuff and share otherwise it's pointless.
  18. I’m not comparing our atmosphere with the City Ground because clearly traditional grounds are much more atmospheric than soulless bowls. However, from my experience, we are certainly behind Derby and Coventry who also play in boring modern stadiums. That’s what’s frustrating, we’re clearly worse than our peers! The club doesn’t give a **** and without them it’s never going to change
  19. No way would Derby churn up the same shite we did for Forest yesterday 😂 Imagine how poor our atmosphere would be for a mid table championship clash vs Hull.
  20. For anyone who's into Indian food, these guys have been going to a different curry house each month in Leicestershire for the last 9 years and reviewing them https://www.leicestercurryclub.co.uk/ There's also some good pages on insta like curry_rated and the_currycartel. There's also a lot of shite pages by paid promoters who just say everything is amazing. Also the Leicester Curry Awards is a complete sham. It's well known that it's based off who pays the most for a table, evidenced by Royal Leicesters walking away with the pub restaurant of the year- it's shite!
  21. Yeah it was poor even before the second half. I swear we always suck for Friday night games. Leeds at home on the Friday night was also a massive disappointment last year. I know we’re at a low ebb and play in a soulless bowl etc etc, but it still shouldn’t be that poor. Still maintain that the family stand is more buoyant than the kop (excluding Union FS). My constructive criticism to Union Fs would be to bin off the tinpot stuff (the terraces, the palace song, come on Leicester boys etc), but obv appreciate they are the only ones trying to get us out of this mess, and apologise for even mentioning them when it’s the other 29,000 that are the issue 😂 I think we need 5 years in the championship, even if we are close to bankruptcy, to try and cleanse the fan base and force some kind of re-organisation of the ground. I’ve got no interest in watching pointless premier league football in a dead modern stadium. As other’s have said, Forest end was annoyingly good to rub salt into the wounds.
  22. Just had a pint in the Hind and the place was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. Has anyone had the African food from there?
  23. You've got the Barrow/Sorrel crawl down the Soar to look forward to in the summer too. Can't be beaten on a good summer's day! I do Navigation, Pinsent, Swan and then curry at Gurkha New Delhi (which is a top curry house). You could do the reverse and end up at Three Crowns for a curry, and bolt on one, or both, of the Charnwood Brewery micropubs.
  24. I find it's too busy in there atm. Shame they didn't take two units. Hopefully it dies down a bit.
