  1. Not sure tbh. I just bought a few bottles from the shop. Quite pricey, but very tasty!
  2. Charnwood Brewery Masquerade is the best non-alcoholic beer I've had.
  3. Few in the TTL and Castle before the game- really enjoyed both! That side of town is very pleasant.
  4. Broadway is pretty decent! My favourite 3 are probably Paddy's (even though it's expensive now), Little Club Bar and Grill, and Ghurka New Delhi in Mountsorrel (partly because it's closer to me and I can go to The Swan and Sorrel Fox for a beer). There's loads of other decent ones though (Three Kilns, What A Shot, Indian Queen, The Taj). It's quite fun just trying a different one each time. I'm off to Birmingham next month to see what the competition is like!
  5. I went Paddy’s last night- the food was excellent but it’s so expensive now. It’s also the second time they’ve tried to swindle me on the bill. Think the Harrow Inn is the same people who took over the Three Crowns in Barrow (previous owners). It was pretty rubbish when they ran it. There’s a new owner at the Three Crowns now who is also doing Indian food and it’s decent.
  6. Were you in the Castle Rock ones? They're very good
  7. Going to Istanbul with the Mrs for 4 nights in March. Going to do most of the standard stuff - Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar etc. Any recommendations for bars/restaurants/cool areas and stuff off the beaten track, or any general advice on how to do the standard stuff, would be great.
  8. Rome is great but flights are expensive. Milan is very accessible (cheap flights) but not as nice as other Italian cities. Combine it with Bergamo/Verona/Bologna- all very nice and well connected by train.
  9. Pint of Tiger in the Rutland & Derby for the first pint of the year! Was absolutely dead in there though...
  10. I’ve really been enjoying the Lucky Saint Lager and Hazy IPA over January. Also just cracked one open for the game…
  11. Not counting glory supporters (I don't consider them as football fans) Loughborough was 60/40 Leicester to Forest when I was growing up, and I imagine it's swung more in our favour since winning the league. Hardly any Derby in Loughborough. Once you go north of Loughborough it's heavily Forest and vice versa south with Leicester. If I am to consider glory supporters, then I would suspect that there are more Liverpool/United followers in the city of Leicester than us. I used to work in Leicester and I was outnumbered by Liverpool and Man United followers. Lived in London for 5 years and Arsenal and Tottenham are comfortably clear of Chelsea.
  12. Went a few years back and loved it. It's just a great place to walk around. I didn't get a chance to do it, but you should deffo head up to Santuario Madonna di San Luca and do the portico walkway all the way back into town. I think it's the longest covered walkway in the world and you go by the Bologna stadium (https://bolognauncovered.com/2019/01/18/walking-bologna-portico-san-luca/). Parma, Modena and Florence are all short train rides away too for a day trip. Here's some of the standard stuff I liked below: Piazza Santo Stefano - lovely little piazza to have a drink/relax Mercato Di Mezzo - Indoor food market with traditional Italian vendors. It's good in the evening and even got a craft beer place in there too Cremeria la Vecchia Stalla - best ice cream i've ever had Mercato delle erbe - more of a fresh fruit/veg market but still a few decent food stalls and lots of bars nearby Cluricaune Irish Pub - good for the footy and one of the better Irish pubs abroad Via del Pretello - seem to remember this being the best area for bars, but might be wrong
  13. Did the new Real Ale Classroom before the Rotherham game and enjoyed it in there. Will go again.
  14. Harvest Pale in The Newshouse Nottingham
  15. Our support has always been below par ever since I started going regularly in 2006. Remember the days when you could be on the second back row of an away end and still be made to sit down The real decline has come from the likes of Man United and Liverpool who were always the trend setters for the UK scene. I seem to distinctly remember noticing a tangible difference in prem atmospheres (through the TV admittedly) the season after Man City won the league in 2013/2014. Not sure why exactly, but that's when it became noticeable to me. One of the potential elephants in the room is the lack of diversity in the match going fan (not making a political point, just a pure observation). I may be wrong on this, but I think French support is quite diverse- for example Marseille and PSG's ultras have a strong contingent from Algerian/Tunisian communities. Now I know its much harder for new fans to get - and be able to afford - tickets in the UK, but we are missing out on large swathes of young, working-class people (who actually reside in the cities) who would undoubtedly freshen up the stale scene. If you look at our support, Villa's, Man United's etc you would basically think these cities are 95% white English.
  16. I used to work on New Walk and always thought that side of town was actually very pleasant, especially around the cathedral. The problem is that pretty much everything east of Granby Street/Gallowtree Gate is horrible. The train station brings you right into the worst part of town, which is not only grim but also lacking in nice bars/pubs. My parents used to like going to the Case (gone now) but they don't go into Leicester anymore. If the train went into the nice part of town (Mum would always be moaning about walking down Granby Street ) I reckon they would still go.
  17. There was no outstanding candidate this year and Mary Earps won via public vote so don't really see the issue. Broad had an average year. He just performed well in his egotistical farewell test when the Ashes were already lost
  18. Nice and easy to pop between those on the train. Absolutely love Rome and Bologna. Was less keen on Florence, but it's still a great place to visit. I haven't done Naples yet but there's lots of fun to be had around there!
  19. Windswept Brewing Co - Blonde Pale Ale at Guildford Arms, Edinburgh
  20. Ghurka New Delhi in Sorrel is very good
  21. Same people who used to run Salims. It's very average IMO and just a standard Bangladeshi one. I like Mount Ghurka in Loughborough.
  22. I thought Paddy's had gone off a few years ago, but last 2 times I've been it's been excellent. It will never be as good as it was pre covid because it's at least 30% more expensive and they have also reduced the portion sizes. The food and atmosphere is still good there though.
  23. ^ meant to quote this
  24. I thought it was decent there, but slightly pricier and food not quite as good as others.
  25. Thanks, will probably try this next year. Please gives us a breakdown/review of your Desi Pub crawl afterwards.
