  1. Just trying to find silver linings mate! I’ll be moaning again in a few weeks I’m sure
  2. As someone has already mentioned, it’s exactly 1 year ago since Kompany was appointed Burnley manager. -Kompany was appointed on 14th June. -Burnley made their first signing on 26th June. -Burnley signed ~16 players between 26th June and 1st September. -Burnley sold ~14 players between 23rd June and 1st September. -The Championship started on 29th July in 2022 (one week earlier than this season). I know we’re all eager for some movement but if we get someone in this week we’re still a few days ahead of the team that stormed the Championship last season. Important to have some perspective!
  3. Again I’m not disagreeing with you. But there’s no guarantee that anyone is a safe bet. I would prefer it if we took a risk with the likes of Duff, McKenna, Van Nistelrooy or Hutter.
  4. I don’t disagree with the other criteria but performance is arguably the highest weighted evaluating factor by far. That’s essentially what increases a manager’s stock. And the fact is next season we’re in the Championship, not in Belgium or the Prem. Again I’m not for Parker at all I’m just not sure I agree with your initial point.
  5. There was never a plan to have a permanent manager until after the end of the season so it’s actually 16 days without a manager.
  6. What else do you select a manager on?! This is the exact premise by which managers are appointed FWIW I am not a fan of Parker.
  7. That’s not really the truth from my understanding. RvN wasn’t happy with the support from the hierarchy. They sold Gakpo and Madueke in Jan but didn’t give him the funds to replace them. I think they then disagreed on summer transfer plans so he walked. If Rudkin pulls off RvN I’ll be seriously impressed. All won’t be forgiven but it’ll be a step in the right direction. Progressive manager with pedigree and vast coaching experience.
  8. Bumped into Sousa 4 months ago in a random town in Italy just before he took his latest job Nice guy, I asked him what happened whilst he was with us. He said it was to do with agents, which is why he got sacked so quickly. He also said he got offered a sporting director role by Vichai & Top apparently
  9. We should be going all out for Ruud van Nistelrooy but you just know he’s not even on our radar.
  10. Would be an absolute coup if we pulled it off but I’d say it’s very unlikely.
  11. He is Top’s advisor for all football matters such as contract renewals, signings and departures, managerial appointments and sackings. 1) He’s left us in a mess with the number of players leaving on a free this season and next season. 2) The wage structure has just ballooned out of control which is what has caused our FFP issues this season. 3) He left it far too late to ring the alarm bells on our downward spiral under Brendan. It’s been widely reported that Rudkin had a very good relationship with Brendan which is one contributing factor for not sacking him sooner. 4) There’s been a clear lack of planning all round when it comes to both player and managerial successors which was evident from when we sacked Brendan. 5) He’s contributed to the relegation of the most expensive team in PL history by a long way.
  12. It’s the second time it’s been done so not sure your point is relevant
  13. Selling isn’t the only reason to write off debt. Not saying they never intend to sell but there’s zero incentive for them to do so when we’re a Championship club. Would be financial suicide for the family.
  14. Not really true when they’ve written off all hundreds of millions in debt owed to them.
  15. It’s all well and good praising the statement but he’s also just gone and put Elland Road as security for a bank loan
  16. If rumours of a fractious relationship between Rudkin and Susan are true then Susan could well throw Rudkin under the bus.
  17. Yep it was, but I’ve noticed in general the leaks have become less accurate until closer to kick off.
  18. The club have tightened on any media leaks in the last few months. To the point where even the team sheets hadn’t been successfully leaked until just before announcement. I wouldn’t get too disheartened just yet, but time is running out given we’re less than 3 months until the season starts.
  19. Was nearly the perfect goodbye message. We’re yet to see an apology from anyone associated with the club which is frankly quite shocking. They either don’t feel like they owe us one or don’t care enough to give one.
  20. No matter how many times we go down, go through years of mediocrity, have other fans laugh at our demise, NOTHING will ever take away the highs of the last 9 years. We have won more than most other clubs will ever win in their lifetime and nothing will change that.
  21. Ashley Young available on a free. With a clear lack of leaders in the squad I would take him in a heartbeat.
  22. Listened to the BSLB podcast yesterday and someone mentioned Andrew Neville. Totally forgot about that guy and no idea how he’s also got away with zero blame - he’s our football operations director
  23. It was mainly because they sold Gakpo & Madueke in January instead of at the end of the season - they had a chance of winning the title had they kept them both. Of course top 2 should be minimum but he achieved it along with silverware in his debut season. He’s earned his trade after being a coach / assistant for 9 years. I think because it was his debut season he’s not guaranteed CL and if we can sell the vision / project whilst giving him a degree of control over assembling the squad we could convince him IMO. Let’s see though!
  24. He turned down Leeds to stay. Do we think he’d jump ship after just signing a new deal? I rate him but not sure he’d leave.
  25. I don’t think it’s too unrealistic and it also gives him an opportunity to build his own team. He left due to Gakpo and Madueke being sold when they were pushing for the league title which is what he meant by lack of ambition.
