Why do I continue to devote time to watching this group of tossers, owned and operated by a group of even bigger tossers. Genuine question because I don't understand myself here. Every logical bone in my body is saying stop. Switch off and don't watch again until something fundamental changes. But I won't. It feels like a mental illness.

2 brain farts this half that I can remember. The 2nd of which indirectly led to their 2nd goal. It's just a catalog of errors every single game that he plays. How on earth does he continue to be picked? How can anybody with eyes who watches football pick this guy?
-
That all comes from Faes fluffing it in the air in their half. Not a direct error that lead to a goal. But you simply cannot carry players who will make 5, 6, 7 unforced errors every single game. It adds up.

I'm probably more critical of Thomas than most on here. I think he's shite. But it's infuriating to see people freeze framing and focusing on that late chance. Firstly, it has been whipped in at about 80mph by Hamza, so a still image will never do the difficulty of the chance justice. Secondly, it isn't his inability to arrive late and slot winners that's the problem here. Let's start small, y'know. Maybe reduce the number of times he boots the ball out for a throw in or a corner from 5 times a match to 1 or 2? Or, I don't know, maybe have him win a couple of 50:50s? I don't care that he can't control a fizzed ball into the net from a tight angle. I do care that he's built like a school boy and is apparently scared of having the ball.

Can't run. Can't win headers. Doesn't tackle. Positionally all over the place. Consistently gives the ball away, creating chances for the opposition. Apart from that, really good defender.
-
Has to be the worst at defending at the club. I don't mean from our defenders. As in, any player who plays in any position cannot be as bad as he is at playing as a centre half.

The bar is so low. Just fvcking play him.
-
Wout. Faes.
-
Charged into the middle of the park for no reason whatsoever to create the space in the first place too. I've never hated one of our own players more.
-
Faes in shocking defending shocker.
-
Is it just me or is the ref way too close to the action when we're building attacks? He's frequently blocking passing lanes and making it all a bit crowded.

Looking very good going forward, but there's easily a goal in this for Portsmouth. Could really do with getting a second.
-
When Luke Thomas eventually leaves this club, he'll quite quickly find his level. Which is League One. Tops.

Pointless? Yes. Virtue signalling? Also yes. Worth getting worked up about? No. Roll your eyes and move on like most of us do.

I'm just trying to understand why so many of our fans call him 'Fatawa'. We don't get 'Mavidido' or 'Mongi'. Why do we get so many people thinking Fatawu is called Fatawa? Just find it really odd.
-
You've gone to the bother of editing this post - presumably to fix a typo - yet haven't corrected the name you mention twice? The very same name that is spelled correctly in the thread title? Please help me to understand how this 'Fatawa' phenomenon came to be. It's frying my brain!!

Poor circumstances. Poor window. Still got a hoard of poor players. I don't blame Marti. All of that said, Oliver Skipp isn't the answer to any problem and should be kept off the pitch.

Beyond harsh to look at him for the goal. The shot is taken from marginally inside the penalty spot and tickles the post on its way in. Would you 'expect' a penalty save from a low shot that almost hits the post? It might not have been a thunderbolt of a strike, but it wasn't a pea roller either. If he tips that around the post (I'm not saying it's impossible - I think if his footwork was a bit better it could have happened), then everyone is talking about what an amazing save it was. Not a mistake, but a slight missed opportunity to do something special. As for the free kick, it is a good save. You can't just turn balls around the post all the time. You're working on instinct in a split second, and often the ball will get sort of beneath/within you rather than being at full stretch. When it comes through bodies like that, sometimes the best you can do is to get a solid contact. The very best have a knack of making the ball stick in those circumstances. Kasper was pretty good at that, but I'm happy to give Jakub the benefit of the doubt on this one. Look, Oxford and Preston were poor. There's no getting away from that. I reckon two poor showings in quick succession has put a magnifying glass on him, which is fair enough. The jury is somewhat out on him, but I don't think there's any evidence from WBA to suggest there's a problem.

Nelson may fail. He may be okay. He may be incredible. The reason it's so galling that he's being left out is that we know, without a shadow of a doubt, that Wout Faes will be crap. There is absolutely zero chance that in that set up for the goal that Nelson just falls on his arse like that Zero. Nilch.

Wout Faes.
-
On his list of footballing abilities, 'defending' has to be pretty low down in that ranking. Which is a bit of an issue for a centre half, if we're honest.
-
I present to you Jordan Ayew, Stephy Mavididi, and Wout Faes. Simple problem with a simple solution.
-
I mean, yeah, great. But I don't want my wingers to be known for their hard work. He's below the level and has been for some time.
-
Fixed it for you

He's not fit to polish Vesty's boots... Which is frightening.
