In fairness I do think that Vestergaard and Coady have added a bit of calmness and professionalism to the defence, particularly compared to Faes who has been rash and inconsistent. Being vocal in the right place by the right person is also a big help. Bearing in mind that neither had been playing, let alone together, I think it shows a lot of promise. I'd also think when necessary, it would currently be better to play Okoli ahead of Faes too.

Probably because he's not a striker. He's an attacking midfielder which is the position he played at his last club and from where he scored all his goals. Early days in a new team against much superior opposition.
-
Connor wasn't there when he won the title with his team in France. They just utilised him effectively.
-
Absolutely and it also helps if you have a manager that plays you in a way that brings out your best attributes. He's not a defensive midfielder or an attacking midfielder, he plays best in between the two ie where his best stats were when he played in the Lique 1 winning side in France. Sometimes it's not rocket science. You wouldn't play RVN on the wing or at centre half would you? That's precisely the equivalent of what Rodgers and certain others tried ie fit into the system as opposed to play to your strengths.

I think that's exactly what he said as Gerry Taggart said, 'he said, whatever you do, don't pass the ball to Savage'! Suggesting that his talents lay in other areas and they absolutely did. He was good at what he did.

Seriously?! It's still got to be better for his longer term learning and career to play every game at Championship level than attend training and just sit on a bench for Leicester City! Imagine if you were him at the end of his Leicester City contract. What would make you more employable in professional football? 1. I played for a Championship level team, scored a very respectable amount of goals, learned a lot and believe I can kick on. Or 2. I trained a lot with a lower Premiership team called Leicester City but never actually tested myself or did anything. Give your head a wobble. If it was your young son how would you advise him? It's his professional career by the way, not your bit of weekend entertainment.
-
You make a fair point. They must have all been so dispirited though because the sudden change under RVN is palpable!
-
Either way I absolutely wish the lad well. He had great attitude and was very good for us. He's certainly too good a player to languish on a subs bench for the next couple of years, a complete waste of a career whatever the money.
-
Just because he's keen and runs about a lot doesn't necessarily equate to purposeful graft, in fact it's pointless and deceptive. Any move he actually gets involved with invariably breaks down. He can't go past his man, he usually slows or stops the move to play the ball backwards or he loses it. He's very easily knocked off the ball too and offers very little defensively.

Certainly has to be a far better option than Mcateer that's for sure! -
Can't see Brighton wanting him, they've got better. I'd sooner have Buonanotte or El Khanous than KDH. I really like him but if we're absolutely honest and ignore any emotionsl ties, he's had one good season under a particular manager in the Championship.
-
With the players we've got out there's absolutely no place for ineffectual players like Mcateer, he's an absolute waste of a space.
-
But if I was Cannon, unless promised games, I wouldn't want to come back! He's at an age where he needs to be playing regularly for his future career. Mcateer and probably some others before him aren't up to Premiership standard because by not loaning them out we've stunted their careers.
-
But if he was taken off and we were down to 10 men, I genuinely don't think anyone would notice, his contribution to the game is negligible. The fact that we have to play both him and JJ on the right effectively shows how short we are on that side.

He's clearly not been a stranger to that broom! -

Of course he isn't necessarily better if you don't even know why he's been sacked! Would you employ someone in an important role knowing that they've been dismissed from their last job but don't know why? -

I hardly think he'd have been the sole decision maker on Haags contract, it's not supposedly how they work. You seem to have some great inside knowledge on Amorin's thoughts, he's only been there 5 minutes, I doubt even he's had time to fully evaluate his squad yet! You know for a fact he flavoured Southgate? They didn't pick him so it tends to suggest that your first point is wrong then as a board of people must have come to the decision. It would surely be the same for both? To wait for 5 months to land him, pay all that money in compensation, when sacking staff, putting up season tickets, getting rid of concessions, being careful with money whilst alluding to him being the best thing since sliced bread, then get rid of him in such a short space of time, I'm not buying it. Logic suggests that there's something else -
There's more priority for a right back tbh. I'd sooner rely on Kristiansen than JJ!

Would be nice to know the reasons why they got rid of him first? -

In fairness I thought Mcateer was really poor. Lightweight and easily knocked off the ball, always looking to play backwards, incapable of taking his man on, struggled to get any meaningful cross in, contributes very little sadly. Would sooner have Reid there tbh. -
Oh yes and it's closed down now hasn't it. Think we've found the reason for him being here 🤔🤣

Looking a great prospect to me. Great attitude and a lot of ability. On occasions gave the ball away but it was usually when trying something quite special that didn't quite come off. I can always forgive a player for that, it's part of the reason I go! -
They used to put people who sat on their own in a corner laughing in Carlton Hayes.
-
Yes, it's notable that he's the only one laughing.
-
Absolutely. Mcateer has made no impression and been our weakest player by far now in two games. Reid simply offers a lot more in the absence of Fatawu.
