It's a lot more simple than that. People in the US felt better off financially 4 years ago then they do today, so they are voting with their wallet. The Economy was polled as the number one issue in the US Election throughout the run-up period, just as it was over here.

Can anyone who comes into power fix a global economic problem? In some ways it doesn't matter. The voting might be more of a dissatisifaction with the current incumbents than belief in the new / returning ones.

Strider, not just an expert football analyst!

I'm going to go with this explanation which makes a lot of sense and is much more palatable than endorsing a corrupt businessman and racist.

I get that people are hard up over here (as they are everywhere), so it's easier to understand it that way.

Personally, I don't think the price of eggs Trumps (pardon the pun) women's rights.

Probably a feeling that Kamala Harris is a mediocre candidate coupled with a degree of disbelief that Trump can be one given the end of his last presidency and the fact that he’s barely coherent.

It's mental it's come to this.

I'm trying to find middle ground with people voting for Trump but the majority seem like insane cultists.

Additionally, people can and should vote based on other things than what affects them and only them right now.

Short term self interest is how a lot of the messes of the world start and continue.

I agree with this but it was an honest question to ask.

What is the perception of the election in the UK?

What makes you think that? I’ve thought he would win for a few weeks but now I think Harris will after the last 48 hours and how the polls seem to have shifted. (From the ones I’ve seen)

I don't believe the polls after the Hilary election when they predicted a big win for her.

    Genuine question here

Was it that awful, and was your life affected for the worse over the 4 years that he previously had in charge?

Something that I've also asked myself and I'm lucky that I'm a white man.

I have to deal with my wife's constant anxiety over women's rights being restricted which impacts my mental health.

Seeing women in other states die due to abortion complications also gives me anxiety.

I have a whole list of mental health related stuff too.

Anyway, I asked for something Trump will do that will cheer me up, not give me another panic attack!

  6. Felt like we were at least trying to give it a go. Sadly, we are just not that good.

I'm at least satisfied that trailing a goal we weren't just trapping the ball on the half way line and passing it back to the keeper. There was a bit of fight but just not enough quality.

I live in hope we just have more quality than at least 3 more clubs come the end of the season we can build upon.

  7. Was surprised at how reasonable they were honestly.

Not to take anything away from our result, as I can't remember the last time I jumped off my sofa so high (and also woke up my pregnant wife who was taking a nap) but I couldn't help feeling for the saints fans (after watching those vids) given how many times we have been on the end of one of those.

  8. I'm not a massive fan of Cooper or trying to defend him but:

    F#ck xg

    **** possession stats

    While we're at it

    F$ck psr

    **** var

They are all, in my opinion, ruining football.

I’m quite shocked by how bad Cooper has been to be honest, he wasn’t ever my first choice or even my 5th but he was on the list of about 8 I’d have taken given his record with bringing through younger players and his ability seemingly to get a tune out of players at his disposal, the waters were muddied by Forests wholesale signings which looked against coopers will and that obviously papered over a lot of cracks because you could make the argument that he had his hands tied behind his back as the club was signing players he didn’t want and was having to be pragmatic to make it work.

I’ve seen nothing like that since he arrived, no plan, no clue.
I didn’t want him but I warmed to him once it was announced and got behind him, many others on here were completely right to be worried about him being the replacement. In hindsight Enzo atleast had a direction, now we don’t even have that.

I do want Steve Cooper to be successful here, but it just feels week after week like we are delaying the inevitable.
I’m just not sure who we could get in right now. I don’t really believe Enzo anyway when he said he would rather stay at LCFC as a priority when Chelsea were clearly monitoring him, he was visibly angry at the fact we didn’t properly disclose the finances to him (not sure I believe that either) but he would have known coming into the summer that the budget was massively limited with a potential deduction, so the moment Chelsea went in for him officially he was gone regardless of what we did imo.

We just needs to decide sooner rather than later what the best path forward is, I’d say it seems pretty unanimous now that most fans have very little faith in what Cooper is offering so far.

Sad to talk about replacements so soon, but the football we’ve put together so far has been pretty awful for the majority of each game. This isn’t sustainable, so far we’ve been lucky that atleast 6 teams are just as poor as we are.

Just listened to the Under the Cosh pod with Albrighton and he talked about McLeish coming in at Villa and that it was never going to work as the fans were against him from the start.

Seems there are some parallels here. Nice bloke and all but sometimes things aren't a good fit.

Unpopular, I know, but I quite like that.

Mainly because if a pundit does speak about us, it’ll be the generic comments, which really wind me up.

It’s also quite reflective of the city itself. Just getting along in the background - nothing flashy or important, just an honest place.

    Unbelievable Jeff!

  11. The bit about Clive Clarke was interesting and sounds like it really took a toll on him.

At the time I remember being quite shocked but as he pulled through didn't think too much more of it. I have heard him speak about it before and how everyone genuinely thought he was dead in the dressing room. He certainty paints a picture of the scene and sounds like a nice bloke for what he did.

Football aside he sounds like a mad bastard but a genuine good person.
