  4. This... About the inevitability of a goal from a "big" team... even applies to us this year. The commentator is almost weary with the expectation that a goal will come.
  5. Who's better than Ozleicester at “loving the news,” “respecting racists,” or knowing “the economy”? Answer: Nobody! I use the best words, no-one uses better words than me.
  6. yes, they are two different things, one is legal, the other lands you in trouble with HMRC
  7. Not killing. Good for him, he'll achieve more as a pro footballer than i ever did. It was an attempted humorous comment about the potential of young players and their perceived value.
  8. I imagine your are aware of this, but in case anyone is trying to get cats into carriers. Scruffing is usually the best way to start, many cats are more relaxed being managed with scruffing than holding. Putting a towel or blanket over the cat can also relax them. When putting into a carrier (front opening) it often works better to reverse the cat in.
  9. That Donald Trump is allowed to post in the "News" topic but i cant.
  10. Just for a bit of mindless Friday info. In 1986 (i think) the factory i worked at annouced they were going to move to paying our wage straight into the bank instead of giving cash in the pay packet every week. The company had a representative from the bank address us about how there would NEVER be a fee for accessing our money, they would never charge to hold a bank account or to withdraw funds or make payments from the account.

  13. A place for you to post things you just found out... MLK - "There is abundant evidence of a major, high-level conspiracy in the assassination of my husband." The jury found that the mafia and various government agencies "were deeply involved in the assassination." The King family was granted the $100 they requested in damages, and they saw it as vindication. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loyd_Jowers_trial *By the way, the title is taken from a newspaper insert that i sold back in the day... I was nearly sacked because i (along with everyone else involved obviously) didnt realise how it sounded when it was read out loud
  14. Was connecting up a new TV on the weekend and the wonderful Mrs Oz was watching and said... why is that (a nonsensical string) the password??! I said coz thats the router password we got when we first set up here 7 years ago and if i were to change it now... i honestly dont know how many devices i will need to update, its easier to remember nunckledumpffttoomsh123 and just add new devices.
  15. The case dates back to the early 2000s when something called “sideways loss relief” was still permitted. This enabled top rate earners, who would otherwise be taxed 40% on the top chunk of their incomes, to offset their potential tax bill against losses they made in other areas of business. Ingenious therefore created film finance partnership schemes – which funded some of the world’s most successful films, including “Avatar” and “Life of Pi” – but any losses that the schemes made could be used to significantly offset investors’ tax bills. HMRC claimed the schemes artificially invented losses on profitable films and amounted to “tax avoidance.” The schemes “sought to use artificial losses arising from investments to avoid £568 million of tax,” HMRC said in one press release from 2016.
  16. always carry that essential piece of paper, that requires you to glance at it and grimace regularly... also, it obviously causes you to need to sigh and speed up whenever you look at it.
  17. Add to this, that in Australia there is now a shortage of animal vaccines so that is pushing prices even higher! Also, since Covid thousands of animals that were adopted during shutdown, are now being left at pounds, destroyed, or just left to wander. This means that animal resuce groups are facing the worst time many can remember.... it is unquestionably the worst in the 15 years we have been involved. We have taken over 700 animals in 2023 and have vet bills alone of over $100,000 (we wont even discuss the time and food costs) ...with not one cent of government or external support. Every animal we take in and rehome is vet checked for health, desexed and vaccinated before being sent to their new home. The value to society that volunteer animal rescue groups provide is almost incaluable.
