  1. It's pretty clear that Winks' head wasn't in the right place while the transfer window was open, hence Cifuentes left him on the bench. I suspect the only reason he didn't start on Saturday was because Skipp and Soumare did well against Birmingham and Marti felt they deserved another go. Now the window is shut and Winks' attitude seems to have improved, he'll be a regular starter again, very likely in partnership with James.
  2. I could get behind that.
  3. I think the only reason Winks didn’t start on Sunday was because Marti didn’t want to mess too much with the team that beat Birmingham. I’ll be very surprised if he doesn’t start next Saturday. James will probably start too, either alongside Winks or at number 10. With Ricardo it’s just a matter of how they want to manage his fitness - he’s a Rolls Royce in this division but one that needs very careful maintenance…
  4. Yet he keeps including him in the squad and putting him on the pitch, and has even started him once this season - none of which he would do if he had a major problem with him. Marti has eyes in his head and he will have seen how we vastly improved today when Winks was on the pitch. He’ll start him v Coventry.
  5. Well he’ll almost certainly be a starter from now on so you’d better prepare yourself for it…
  6. He’s light years ahead of Soumare and Skipp.
  7. He started an international game the other night.
  8. You can tell it wasn’t a red by actually watching it.
  9. That was a yellow. The reaction of the crowd and the Oxford players has swayed the ref.
  10. It’s clearly not the long-term plan. James will occupy one of those slots after he’s had the chance to actually train with the team.
  11. Why? Ramsey played the full 90mins for Burnley in the EFL Cup earlier in the season.
  12. Exactly. The murder rate in the US is around six times that of the UK. And while that may be partially down to cultural differences, it is mainly because we don’t allow our weirdos and nutjobs easy access to deadly weapons that can kill large numbers of people at the squeeze of a trigger. The absolute refusal of the US pro-gun lobby to accept that having a vast amount of deadly weapons in circulation = lots of people being murdered is one of the most flagrant and bizarre examples of collective self-deception the world has ever seen. But it won’t change.
  13. “What did it feel like when you handed in your son to the police and he ended up getting convicted and then executed?” ”Well, um, it was a bit of a mixed bag if I’m being honest….”
  14. I dunno. He might finally be able to build that extension with the $100k reward money...
  15. And now widely named: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/us-news/charlie-kirk-tyler-robinson-custody-35894358
  16. It sounds like he was persuaded to hand himself in and drove to the police station with his dad.
  17. The shooter will be caught, probably within the next few days. Manhunts on this scale almost never end with the suspect evading the police. And when they’re caught the conspiracy theories tend to melt away very quickly as the truth is invariably more banal than the scenarios dreamed up by amateur sleuths on social media.
  18. In the footage I’ve seen it does look like there is something sticking out of the backpack partially covered with a towel or an item of clothing.
  19. What exactly was Cifuentes trying to achieve by giving an honest answer about what he’s seeing in training? Did he not think to check what people on here think first? A worrying sign 😢
  20. There was due to be another FBI press conference a short while ago but it has been postponed because of ‘rapid developments’ in the case. Have they found him…?
  21. The Wall Street Journal was the first to report that the cartridges were scrawled with slogans. It is generally regarded as a proper source. However until the suspect is caught and we know more about him, it’s probably best to avoid drawing many conclusions from it.
  22. Well I think they were just referring to his age rather than implying he was actually at college. But I'm not sure about the theory that the shooter must have been an expert marksman. There seem to be plenty of people claiming that certain bolt-action rifles are such precision weapons that an amateur could easily make the shot if they were in a prone position, had the aid of a scope and a rifle brace, and the time to prepare.
  23. According to the FBI press conference they have good video footage of the Charlie Kirk suspect as he was escaping through a local neighbourhood. They also have the weapon - a bolt-action rifle - and a footprint. They described the suspect as 'college age' but said they're holding back on releasing any pictures of him, but may do so shortly. They have no idea where he is or how far he has gone.
  24. Yep. It wouldn’t be surprising if it turns out that his assassin was a right-wing nut job who hated Kirk because of some perceived ‘betrayal’ of ultra-conservative values. But of course a left-wing extremist motivated by Kirk’s views on Israel, for example, cannot be ruled out either.
  25. I certainly agree that social media has acted as an accelerant to extremist views. But at this stage none of us knows whether social media played a role in Kirk’s assassination (politicians were being murdered thousand of years before twitter). And we don’t even know whether it was politically motivated, or if it was, from which side (political assassinations have been conducted by people on the same side as their victims). Thanks for clarifying. In which case I’d suggest that ‘live by the sword, die by the sword’ probably wasn’t a great choice of phrase to express your view as it suggests something far more brutal than the opinion you outline above.
