  1. Born and Raised in Leicester · Follow The Games we used to play: Den building.. When I was about 11/12 me and a few of the lads from the home I was in found this abandoned dilapidated pavilion some where beyond Shady Lane. So we agreed to meet there again, we were only allowed out in no more than pairs with a few tools to turn it into a 'Den / Hideaway'. Well we turned up and started repairing it with rubble from inside and around it when we heard this shouting form outside we looked out of the window and saw about 15/20 men and police and were carted off and accused of vandalising it. As I recall nothing came of it from the police but we got real ear bashing and a list of chores to do for the next few weeks.

  6. If we'd have gone down that route I'm sure KP would have been inclined to go for a brand new stadium in the sticks as that would be the only place they'd find the space.

  12. You're correct I should have said Filbert St not Burnmoor St. They'd owned nearly all the houses on Burnmoor in the late 60s/70s but sold them then bought most of them back except one I believe. Rumour has it they paid more for each house than the got when they sold all of them.

  16. The plan was always to stay. The preferred option was to rotate the ground 90 degrees and build a new main stand on Filbert St. Burnmoor St but the locals and a councillor campaign strongly against claiming a loss of light for the remining houses on Burnmoor St. Even the best move option on Bede island was blocked by the houses on Western Road, We were extremely fortunate to end up where we did as planning permission had already been given to Morrisons but they let it lapse otherwise we'd have been at Fosse Park, Glenfield or Beaumont Lees. https://cabinet.leicester.gov.uk/documents/s1900/Draft Supplementary Planning Guidance for Bede Island South - Document.pdf I think this was the image at the time for Bede island
