Genuinely the worst WC final of my lifetime this

This is probably Rooney's best ever World Cup.

The BBC somehow managed to downgrade on the half time show. How much worse can it get? Will there be a single shot in this second half?

I'm not convinced it's true as much as it was once upon a time with how much data there is out there now. You might be right but I'm not so sure.

We're still yet to win a knockout game in my lifetime that we weren't bookies favourites to win.

It felt extremely same old England to me. Some highs. Some fun. A 0-0 draw in the group stage. But ultimately fell short against the first big name.

This is sort of why I've always had an aversion to Martin. People say Poundshop Pep but I think he's nearer Poundshop Rodgers. I still think it will end in tears even though there will be quite a lot of overcompensating praise for him because people were very anti appointing him in the first place. Is why for me, I will say fair play he seems to have had a positive impact, but I'm still very much braced for the downturn. What does go in his favour is it takes the most absolute basics to improve on what has been served up in the last two years. Like it was literally close to impossible for us to have done any worse.

This lot are more damaging to this club than any rival could ever be.

I am very reluctant to cave in before we've even played a game but he does seem to have made a decent start behind the scenes. We'll see though.

I've kind of come around to thinking this as well. That being said I don't think Tuchel did the right thing either - and more just facilitated the downfall rather than arrested it. So he is still at fault.

It was typical corner cutting from LCFC. We used to have one of the best and most innovative scouting teams in England and yet have somehow declined to a point where we think actually, rather than risk having to go out and get someone new on less money with potential sell on value, we'll just stick with somebody so blatantly ill fitted for the upcoming season and reward him with a repeat contract all over again, somebody who has been piss poor in the Premier League. Maybe it's a shift due to McCarron's appointment. Maybe the players are forcing it more now that we're in League One.

All in all another absolutely appalling deal from LCFC.

I just don't understand this at this point. "Full backing" after that? I've been behind Tuchel, no regrets about that either, but he has massively let us down in an enormous game. I don't know how it can be that set in stone. What a disappointment.

Think Spain will get the job done. But you cannot count Argentina out like it's a formality. Just do not know when they're beaten.

I dunno. I do remember the Qatar one but I think that was helped by two teams being in it that didn't really expect to get to the semis. This is two teams who'd rather be anywhere else.

It's even more stupid when there's a pretty high % chance of extra time. I thought he went a bit early against Mexico. Probably more forgivable with 10 men, but even then is it? Because if Mexico equalise there is probably only one winner from there. Alas, we shut them out well and won. The difference this time is they have far more quality and are also notoriously good at coming back. I just do not understand how a manager of his calibre and experience has fallen into that garbage.

It was just so ****ing unnecessary. We couldn't have played any more into Argentina's hands. Their equaliser felt inevitable, and their winner did as well after that arrived. You don't have to go all guns blazing but at least try and get the game out of our own half. It's like the Mexico game has duped him into this false sense of security that we'll just defend our way through it and not get punished. You're alright when the oppositions best attacker is Raul Jimenez. Argentina have real firepower. It's not like they didn't give us warnings. There's no hard luck story. No bad luck. No corruption accusations. Just total cowardice. They completely deserved to beat us. The most galling part of that is this manager was brought in pretty much on his game management. The whole rationale behind that appointment was turning the oh so nearly's into wins. To fall down very specifically on that point is sickening.

That's on Tuchel. Absolutely horrendous. You bring in a manager to avoid situations like that and he's gone and completely bricked it, and for what? Parking the bus on the hour when there's a risk of extra time. Absolutely ridiculous.
