Lamby Posted 9 April 2015 Posted 9 April 2015 Do they still have inter railing with Amtrax? You mean Amtrak They still do, in 6 or 10 "rides"
Guest Posted 9 April 2015 Posted 9 April 2015 Rent a car and drive up or down the PCH. I started in LA (Santa Monica at the start of the drive actually ) and drove up to San Francisco. Probably good if you want to spend a few days chilling in the middle of your holiday to be honest, open roads, great beaches and the places I stopped at on that drive were pretty chilled. San Francisco is a brilliant place though!
sphericalfox Posted 9 April 2015 Posted 9 April 2015 Denver and California. Bring a prescription. Fill your boots.
Bettsj2 Posted 9 April 2015 Posted 9 April 2015 Thanks for all this lads! Really helpful! Would you say its cheaper to hire a car or get internal flights/buses? You used to be able to get a bus ticket that was called something like a Desert Hopper. Basically you paid something like $500 and you can get on and off buses wherever you like for as long as you like for a year. You'll see more of the country that way.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 9 April 2015 Posted 9 April 2015 If your going to Houston, stop off in Austin and get yourself down to 6th street, plenty of bars, restaurants, music venues etc. I spent roughly 20 hours in Austin and it consisted of fish tacos, numerous bars, buying cowboy boots, a randy Rodgers concert, bbq, some more bars, seeing in Easter with some cigars on a balcony overlooking the city with a group of people I didn't know a few hours earlier, steak and eggs for breakfast as well as a quick tour around the Longhorns sports facilities. Dying to get back there!
Master Fox Posted 9 April 2015 Posted 9 April 2015 Come to Milwaukee man. You'll love it. So many great bars and places to eat. Literally thousands of bars, there's a beach, people are super friendly, cheap too. You can stay on my sofa.
ozleicester Posted 10 April 2015 Posted 10 April 2015 If you get west, i concur with Yosemite, was blown away by that place but its not cheap to stay there, Monument valley and Death Valley incredible. The grand canyon was interesting, but in all honesty a litle of a let down.. we saw both rims and we probably rushed it? San Fran is a beautiful city. Vegas is amazing, just so much fun and life.. if you get the chance jump off the tower there, its a huge buzz. LA was a bit meh also... we stayed in Hollywood and it perfectly represents american fame..... its looks all shiny and flash... until you look close and its jjust a bit dirty, tacky and grotty... still, so am i, so its not all bad. Also you can get tickets to see the filming of a TV show if your in LA for a few days.. we were lucky enough to see The Big Bang Theory which was quite an experience, and of course Universal Studios are great if you like a theme park. Have fun.
ozleicester Posted 10 April 2015 Posted 10 April 2015 Denver and California. Bring a prescription. Fill your boots. I thought you had to be a local (eg have an id card with your address) to buy?... damn, missed my chance?
ronnup Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 New Orleans is incredible. If you get a chance go to a second line.
Vicki Vixen Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 Yeah I've travelled in America. Florida mainly. A couple of weeks in Florida. What do you want to know?
