Gerard Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Against Arsenal Away. Their two last games are against Arsenal and Chelsea away. If they are in the relegation zone after our game against them they are down. Agreed. FIF thinks every game we play is a "must win" apart from strangely enough Swansea when he claimed rival managers would be "shitting themselves" if we took a point off the Welsh Barcelona. I will be happy if Sunderland are behind us after we play them. Even if it's two points and our fate is out of our hands. If they can get three more points than us away at Arsenal and Chelsea than we can at home to QPR then good luck to them.
RedSoxUK Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Thinly veiled snipe at Pearson alert: He chose a strong (his strongest??) line up last night versus Chelsea in a bid to get something from the game. It worked for 45 minutes but we eventually got nothing apart from fitness concerns to several key players. Will the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton help us out and field their strongest team against Sunderland? You're allowed to snipe! I'm 50/50 on whether we should've started certain players, I think Cambiasso / Vardy should have been rested, Cambi's 2nd half performance was a sign of fatigue, matched with the power of Chelsea's midfield it was uncomfortable for him. Chelsea will help us out, Mou seems to have a soft spot for Nigel and Cambiasso, it's not often you see managers side by side during games talking calmly. Arsenal are too good for Sunderland, at the very least, Sunderland won't win - Everton is up for grabs, but they are the form side and will continue that to try and get as many points as possible on a disappointing season; Martinez knows how to close seasons. The Sunderland v Leicester game is key, I have a sneaky feeling it will be Aston Villa fuking up - they're well and truly not considered or actively inviting the pressure, and they could be sitting ducks if we beat Newcastle next week and Sunderland pull one out against us. Villa have in-form Everton at home, Southampton away, West Ham & Burnley at home, could easily see Villa lose against Everton and West Ham.
narboroughblue Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Match Sunderland's result this weekend and don't lose away to them and we will be a point ahead with a much superior goal difference. They will have Everton, Arsenal and Chelsea away and we will have Southampton and QPR at home. I'd be happy with that right now.

A lot can change in football, as we have proved in the past few weeks, but at this moment in time you'd struggle to see Sunderland getting more than a point from Chelsea and Arsenal. Their game v Southampton on Saturday is as big, if not bigger, than ours v Newcastle, lose and results go against them and they could be 4points plus a poor goal difference off safety with 4 difficult games to play. Although, of course. if they win they could be back out of it again. Nobody can say with any certainity how many points each side is going to need, but if we get 6 points, taking us to 37, and go down I would be very surprised. Taking QPR and Burnley out of the equasation for now, that would require the following teams to get around the following, dependant on their respective goal difference.. Villa - 6pts - from Everton (h), West Ham (h), Southampton (a), Burnley (h) Hull - 3pts - from Arsenal (h), Spurs (a), Burnley (h), Man Utd (h) Sunderland - 8pts from Southampton (h), Everton (a), Leicester (h), Arsenal (a), Chelsea (a) Newcastle - 3pts from Leicester (a), West Brom (h), QPR (a), West Ham (h) No absolute certs on there, including ourselves of course. We only need one team, along with hopefully Burnley and QPR, to fail and there are so many potentials. Either way, should be one hell of a climax.
fuchsntf Posted 30 April 2015 Author Posted 30 April 2015 Hull just beat Liverpool. Ars and Chelsea won't have the same do or die drive that Sunderland will have. Have we supporters learned nothing over the last few weeks This is exactly what a lot of fans just dont understand, they dont get it at all. Thats what make these top teams, well ....top teams, they just wont accept a loss at anytime, they play only to win, including their 2nd string.Morihino, Wenger wont let them, like the players they choose, they simply accept giving any 90minutes away to make it easy for another team. Thats why Liverpool have struggled in getting back to the top, they only think they are good enough, Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern, Barcelona, Real, Madrid, know they are. last night, city played their best 45minutes in probably 3yrs, Chelsea played their best 45minutes in the last 6months. 2 teams playing their hearts out for the same reason knowing ,not thinking they can achieve their individual targets. Difference was, one knew they had it in them to turn it up not one notch, but 2-3. This sort of game, is where both group of fans were proud. One team know they are the best of 19 teams.....The other team now dont believe , but they know, they this season that they can best at least 5 other teams.
