fuchsntf Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 Chelsea, shame we nearly had them... can we beat Newcastle and Southampton, and draw with sndland, and QPR?? Are we safe with just another 6pts. 1 win 3 draws ?? Are we too greedy expecting city to win all games. Would 4 draws be sufficient, to see us safe?? What can we allow as the least expectations, To keep us safe.???
Legend_in_blue Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 3 points are achievable at home to Newcastle and QPR. Avoid defeat at Sunderland. Job done.
cc_star Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 Sunderland will win games, QPR could go on a run we need to equal or better their results With Nugent and Schlupp out, and Huth & King doubtful, Vardy Cambiasso & Ulloa dead on their feet There's very worrying times ahead + we don't play any midtable teams with nothing to play for. The last thing we want is to have to get something from QPR

They're likely to be down by the time they play us. Sunderland have still to go to Everton, Arsenal and Chelsea before playing us at home. We also have superior goal difference to them. If we lose on Saturday and both QPR and Sunderland win, I'll be a lot more worried though.
Gubbins Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 We might not play any mid table teams but there's a decent chance that qpr won't have anything to play for when we meet them...
Guest Bilo Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 We'll be fine, one last almighty push and they can take themselves off to the beach for 2 months. I think 35 points will be enough this season. QPR and Burnley are all but dead and buried, and Sunderland have an awful run-in. Aston Villa could still be distracted by their FA Cup exploits as well. I'm not panicking any more now than I was at 5pm on Saturday, apart from the injuries of course. We might not play any mid table teams but there's a decent chance that qpr won't have anything to play for when we meet them... QPR could be dead and buried in a fortnight with trips to Anfield and the Etihad in quick succession.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 It depends how we do in the Sunderland game. Thats the pivotal one. If we win that, that result alone probably sees us safe as they would need 5 points more than us elsewhere to overtake us and our Goal Difference. Regardless of what we do against Newcastle and Southampton though, if we lose to Sunderland, there will be something riding on the last game of the season.

We're the walking dead, hope players are fit on Saturday

If, however, you mean we're relegation certainties, your head's fallen off.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 Its also a bonus I think that we play first on Saturday. I'd much rather play before everyone else being out of the bottom 3. If we win, then all that does is add pressure to the teams under us that at kick off are fully aware of our result. I think that can only play in our favour.
Scotch Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 See to be honest, you can talk about how well we have played tonight against the champs, you can talk about how well we have performed against the big clubs all season, but what it really comes down to is beating the teams around us, something we have NOT been able to do all season. 4 games left, 3 at home, 2 clubs in the bottom 3 and a Newcastle team that are on a dreadful run of form! these are the games that we simply need to win. If we can't look at these remaining fixture and seriously believe that we can take atleast 9 points, then quite simply,we don't deserve to be in this league!

Did you miss last Saturdays game then or something? Last games recently V Clubs "around us" this calender year Burnley 0-1 Leicester West Brom 2-3 Leicester Leicester 0-0 Hull Leicester 0-1 Palace Leicester 1-0 Villa Hull 0-1 Leicester Played 6 Won 4 Drawn 1 Lost 1. Not really that bad of a return in the last 4 months is it against teams in the bottom 6 at the time of playing them.

We won't need anywhere near nine points from the rest of the season. To require 40 points, that'd mean Sunderland winning three of their last five (So'ton home, Everton away, Leicester home, Arsenal away, Chelsea away). It'd mean QPR winning all four of their remaining games (Liverpool away, Man City away, Newcastle home, Leicester away) A couple of wins from the last four would all but guarantee our place in the Prem next season, especially if we avoid defeat at Sunderland.

Shame about the Palace game because we should of scored a hat full that day!
Guest Bilo Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 I genuinely do fancy us against Sunderland to be honest, so long as we have the pace and energy we had against West Brom and Swansea. It seems that as soon as they concede first, they absolutely wilt and it gets far worse at home. Sunbury Fox Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 I think we need 4 points from the next 2 games before we head to Sunderland. That should mean that even if we lose there a win v QPR should be enough. Hull's sudden form has changed things a lot - really thought they were gonnas.
cjslcfc Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 I'm not sure why worry should set in because of tonight's result. We only looked tired because we were chasing a top team on fire in the second half and we had put so much into the first. We will be alright. We're going to win on Saturday and we will get a result vs. both Sunderland and QPR = staying up.
Guest Bilo Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 Hull will be fine now. I don't see them getting much from Arsenal, Tottenham and Man United but they should get something from Burnley at home, which should be enough to save them.
bluesbrothers Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 Providing that Sunderland don't beat Arsenal, which I wouldn't put past them in this crazy end-of-season climate, it's still totally in our hands. We simply have to better their results and not lose to them, and let's not forget that we're only one behind Villa, who may yet capitulate.Hull are probably more or less there, the total bastards.

Yet, throughout the season we have also drew with Burnley,Sunderland and Hull, as well as losing to QPR,Newcastle and Villa, and of those 6 teams,we still have to play 3 of them, making the reverse results much more relevant. By pointing out our recent form, you have simply reinforced my point, we have to be going into these games believing we can win atleast 3. I don't think.we need 9 pts either but that's what I would be aiming for. Newcastle,Sunderland and QPR are ALL winnable games!

As your point, as I highlighted originally, was that we haven't beaten anyone around us all season, which is wrong. The fact is, since the turn of the year, we've won 4 and drawn 1 out of 6 games against teams in the bottom 6. This means we are doing pretty much everything that is expected of us against the teams we are fighting along side to avoid relegation at the business end of the season.

We certainly didn't do great first time around, although quoting results from this year and the 2nd time we've played these teams shows how much better we are and that we are capable of beating them, even away so we don't have anything to fear in those games. Now watch us lose to shower of shit Newcastle, but beat Southampton
Benguin Posted 29 April 2015 Posted 29 April 2015 On paper, beat Newcastle and Sunderland lose to Southampton and QPR to Liverpool we are 4 points clear. If we achieve that we have 3 games to obtain 2 points which would almost definitely be enough.
