Raw Dykes Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Providing that Sunderland don't beat Arsenal, which I wouldn't put past them in this crazy end-of-season climate, it's still totally in our hands. We simply have to better their results and not lose to them, and let's not forget that we're only one behind Villa, who may yet capitulate. Hull are probably more or less there, the total bastards. It's actually still in our hands even if Sunderland do beat Arsenal, because we still have to play them and a victory for us would mean we would be ahead of them by one point.
AyewJoking Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 the thing is, Chelsea, Everton and Arsenal have nothing to play for whereas Sunderland should be chomping at the bit so I fear they will still pick up points, probably win.
yorksfox Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 It's us or Sunderland for that last relegation spot. They have experience of these situations and would expect them raise their performance levels as they did at Stoke on Saturday. Is our little run over? There was certainly an element of 'pub side' defending from us in the second half last night, Chelsea could have had six. Remember they only had one shot in 90 minutes against QPR recently. It depends so much on energy levels and injuries. Vardy did not look himself last night, Konchesky does his best, but is woeful, Morgan slipped (how many times this season?) for their second, overall I feel we have left ourselves a lot to do in 4 games. We have had two 'runs' this season: Arsenal (H), Stoke(A) and ManU(H) gave us 7 points and the recent run of 4 wins another 12. That's 19 points, meaning we have managed just 12 out of a possible 81 for the remaining fixtures. Yes, we have had the usual bad luck, poor referees etc but basically it has been down to pretty awful defending and goalkeeping. The midfield and forwards have generally been good enough, given that they have had to all step up a level.
teblin Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I can't believe this negativity has crept in. We lost to Chelsea. We'll be OK. Sunderland may have experience in these situations, but there's also a reason they keep finding themselves in them too.
Bert Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Let's take it one step at a time. Starting by beating Newcastle. Its a massive chance for us to get another 3 points and then put the pressure on everyone else around us. Two wins will be enough I'm sure.

They didn't raise their game against Stoke, they got a lucky goal in the first minute and hung on for their lives, Stoke battered them.
lee7 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I said this in another thread but the pressure is almost definitely on if we don't beat Newcastle on Saturday. Failing to beat them means relying on points against a Southampton side who are fighting for a Europa league position! If we don't get any points there, we then travel to Sunderland who will give us a really good run for our money. Being typical Leicester rather than carrying on the good form prior to last nights game I think we are going to make this extremely hard for ourselves.

As soon as we lose the negativity comes pouring out. Let's focus and get behind the lads.
justfoxes Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Definitely a lot of people didn't think we would have got anything against the likes of Chelsea last night the other managers of Newcastle QPR etc in the crowd looked a bit nervous when we went on those big runs against Chelsea, And I bet they had a little smile on my face when eventually lost to Chelsea. But who knows if we would have had a Fit Huth all match we may have got a draw so here we go Newcastle Sunderland QPR in Southampton to go it is in a hands 3 Games at home yes it definitely is in our hands and we are shown in the past that we can grind out results we were unlucky last night against Chelsea A couple of the players fella sleep for the equaliser and disappointed Kram didn't get on let's hope they put him on against Newcastle but all in all I still think we'll survive the drop ! Bring on Newcastle this weekend and let's start another run of unbeaten results !!
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 A lot of people are very ostrich Apparently, they DONT bury their heads in the sand?
Fox92 Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 One game at a time. Beat Newcastle on Saturday, and then see how everything else goes that afternoon.
Guest Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 It's going to be difficult. Sunderland have an easy run in against teams that don't need to overplay and Us and they have a game in hand. Villa have an easy run in. We MUST beat Sunderland and imo need to beat Newcastle too. 6 or 7 points to be sure and 3 of them against Sunderland. Let's not be Ostriches about it.

MooseBreath Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Our relegation odds have been slashed after defeat to Chelsea. 6/1 earlier in the week was a fantastic bet. Amazing how much certainly people had that we would survive despite being well and truly in the thick of it.
Guest Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Not losing to them is a must. I disagree. they have a game in hand, they draw with us and they're in poll position to finish higher than us.
AndWhat? Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I disagree. they have a game in hand, they draw with us and they're in poll position to finish higher than us. Against Arsenal Away. Their two last games are against Arsenal and Chelsea away. If they are in the relegation zone after our game against them they are down.
AyewJoking Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Thinly veiled snipe at Pearson alert: He chose a strong (his strongest??) line up last night versus Chelsea in a bid to get something from the game. It worked for 45 minutes but we eventually got nothing apart from fitness concerns to several key players. Will the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton help us out and field their strongest team against Sunderland?

Will the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton help us out and field their strongest team against Sunderland? Don't think it's a thinly veiled snipe, before the game FoxesTalk was 50/50 on resting players, with some including me taking the opinion that he should... But be honest, Huth & King were in nobodies tip to be rested and he'd have been slated in heroic defeat, or worse perhaps our GD advantage over Villa & Sunderland would have been eroded altogether. I'm more bothered about potential fatigue, sure we played two games a week all season last year, but so did the opposition, and the fine margins level wasn't as elite as this will be
fuchsntf Posted 30 April 2015 Author Posted 30 April 2015 Did you miss last Saturdays game then or something? Last games recently V Clubs "around us" this calender year Burnley 0-1 Leicester West Brom 2-3 Leicester Leicester 0-0 Hull Leicester 0-1 Palace Leicester 1-0 Villa Hull 0-1 Leicester Played 6 Won 4 Drawn 1 Lost 1. Not really that bad of a return in the last 4 months is it against teams in the bottom 6 at the time of playing them. Good point, and should help some fans as a reminder
fuchsntf Posted 30 April 2015 Author Posted 30 April 2015 It depends how we do in the Sunderland game. Thats the pivotal one. If we win that, that result alone probably sees us safe as they would need 5 points more than us elsewhere to overtake us and our Goal Difference. Regardless of what we do against Newcastle and Southampton though, if we lose to Sunderland, there will be something riding on the last game of the season. Regardless of result...?? That last paragraph puts us down.Nothing will be riding on the last game. Or is just beating QPR your aim
Guest Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Against Arsenal Away. Their two last games are against Arsenal and Chelsea away. If they are in the relegation zone after our game against them they are down. Hull just beat Liverpool. Ars and Chelsea won't have the same do or die drive that Sunderland will have. Have we supporters learned nothing over the last few weeks
filbertway Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 Comparing Liverpool to Arsenal and Chelsea seems silly to me. Chelsea are a much better team than them. Arsenal will want to finish in the top three to avoid being in the champions league qualifying position. I don't doubt that shocks could happen, but they would have to actually be a shock. I don't think anybody was shocked that Hull beat Liverpool. They've been weak for a while now.

Will the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton help us out and field their strongest team against Sunderland? One reason, this veiled snipe, shows that fans with similar thoughts, would not have the nous, guile or backbone to be a football manager. That is also why Pearson is in the top tier, he picks his best team and and shows belief in his Selected team, more ever his squad. You also seem to forget how many fans, maybe even you, has told us week in week out that every single player who played yesterday and over this postive period, should not to be near the 1st team, with the exception of Huth. King ,Albrighton, Vardy, Drinkwater, James, according to some not worthy enough. Some fans are just boring, trying anything, something to find weird unfound points + excuses, just to be negative and critical. It has been a struggle all season, no doubt, Players not finding consistent form, fans expecting Pearson to be failure free, fans believing only their single opinions,on players , tactics and team game set up, would make city a better force to be reckoned with, turning a blind eye to injuries received before or at the beginning of the season.Top club players taking long to find any form then taking knocks again, not one small group of the team showing consistency of form. Then to pour all failures on Pearson alone. 2 promotions and possible 1 relegation, yes with poor performances, but is that a logical reason to have him sacked, or just to say he isnt good enough.
Suffolk exile Posted 30 April 2015 Posted 30 April 2015 I am genuinely struggling with this thread. We were mostly predicting that we would lose last night - this is the team that are 10 points clear at the top - they are literally a class above. There is no shame in losing to them, and it is not any surprise - it was a bonus game. Now that we have got concentrate on the games left and perfom to the best of abilities, and that's it.
