the moaning about the tv series of game of thrones not being as good as the book thread (full of spoilers)

I loved the books and the series but dos find theblast book to date a little dull..

I don't know why/if Balon has been ditched. Slight chance they're bringing the Greyjoys into it again next season but their storyline has possibly been cut. It's a shame because there were some great characters but again, LIMITED SCREEN TIME AVAILABLE. So far you want Euron, Balan, Victarion, Asha, and Stoneheart, that's too much, it just wouldn't work, things have to be cut.

What if Brienne and Pod aren't actually that important? She's in like two chapters tops in the books. It was a great reveal, don't get me wrong, it's just not necessary in a medium like TV. Why was Brienne killing the Hound bullshit? He 'dies of wounds' anyway in the book? It was a bit contrived but nothing worth moaning about.

It is weird that they brought the brotherhood in and gave them screen time then just ditched them though.

Re: the Hound, he isn't really dead in the books he was toiling in the field with the priest and Dog, like the mountain isn't dead and the mountain revived/possessed by Qyburn will be Cersei's champion at her trial and the hound will be the person he faces. It could be that the hound was revived by the red God, but that doesn't fit.

Or at least that is where some think the books are going.

The TV series has largely skipped over red priests bringing people back to life, as that is what will most likely happen to John in the next book, he dies his watch is done, he is brought back to life but no longer bound by his oath to the night's watch and can join Stannis to avenge his brother/father/mother/the North.

Although I did like the subtle implication in the show that the red woman had something to do with his Wildling lover, you know nothing John Snow (I'm pretty sure that wasn't in the book) would be a good twist to find out she was behind it all along.

the scene was in the book, I've got no idea why it's perceived as being spooky. Ygritte and Jon's relationship wasn't exactly secret and with her affiliation with Mance, makes sense for him to tell her everything he knows regarding Jon

Mate the foreshadowing in that Brienne chapter is so subtle it's hitting you in the face. Sandor is alive and everyone knows it, terrible writing or not.

I disagree. Sandor will be back on behalf of the Faith and fight Robert Strong, I don't think GRRM will write a character back into the story just as an Easter egg.

I think it would be poor writing to do so. If left like it is, it's a cool easter egg, if he comes back his arc makes as much sense as showSansa's that everyone is complaining about.

Only once but I know a lot of people who have read the books and have discussed them a few times, especially now in relation to the TV show.

i see your point on all these but things could have been put in or moved around to fit it. i don't like how they are running with the cult taking over rule in kings landing. Cersei bought it back as she thought it would help her and it soon becomes her own downfall. 

in regards to the hound/briene thing. it was clearly done for a big showdown piece for TV. i remember him succumbing to his wounds in the book and his helmet being taken by the brotherhood. wasn't it the brotherhood that killed him and he dies from a bite wound? 

anyone seen martins reply to whats been going on and how its all veering off? calls it the butterfly effect.

It'll be fun when the next bookS come out and the series is so far from the final version. Perhaps the TV series will just have re-births everywhere. Still it must be hard writing a TV series and not knowing what the ending is going to be.
