Captain... Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Wow, how to completely fvck up the Margery Cersei story line, the best bit of book of 5. Really pissed off about that. Why has Jorah got greyscale? I also hate Sansa being at Winterfell, completely makes Theon/Reek storyline redundant, and she is still married to Tyrion, I know they didn't fvck, but someone somewhere is going to say something, and that scene at the end was grim. Fvcking Dickweasels.
lgfualol Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I can't believe they shortened Tyrion's awesome bit in the book after he kills his dad and that women I forget her name. It was all over in like 4 mins. Easily my favourite part of a book ever.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I'm considering putting my viewing of the show on hold (maybe indefinitely) to keep my enjoyment when reading the novels. To me this is GRRM's world and his characters and I would rather take his account of what is happening to them, rather than suffer through some TV corporate bullshit where there is a love story between what's supposed to be a eunuch general and a 14 year old maid. EDIT: Missandei is actually an 11year old ffs
Legend_in_blue Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 This tv show is fast becoming so dull to watch. It's putting me off reading past book 3! The acting is so wooden. Shocking tonight for me, it's a total bore. Way, way overrated imo. And if that Sand Snake woman comes out with im the daughter of Oberyn Martell one more time while messing about with a spear adding nothing of note to the story, that's me done with the show. Utterly pointless character.
Captain... Posted 18 May 2015 Author Posted 18 May 2015 This season has been the worst for me, it was always going to be tough with the way the book goes, certain storylines like Sansa and Bran and Arya stagnate and the newly introduced characters aren't that interesting but they could have easily cut all the Dorne stuff, and had lady stoneheart and the moat cailin and the blackfish story line, so much more interesting and it keeps the frey's involved and their betrayal. At times it feels like they are doing this just to get more reaction online it is one hour long click bait, the problem is it is also a bit dull. Jamie and Bronn'a fight in Dorne was a bit shit(and why are they even there?) Danearys is just coming off as a brat, Tyrion is the only saving grace probably why they decided against him having greyscale.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I've avoided this season like the plague after how atrocious it was last season, some of these changes I've heard are absolutely ludicrous. Sansa being raped completely undermines her entire arc as well
lgfualol Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 I've been enjoying this season, but not all of the storylines. I'm bored of most of them. Just have an hour of Tyrion IMO.
Dr The Singh Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 This serious is boring, where's all the sex and nudity gone. I know a lot of people in the US turning off

AND WHERE THE **** IS LADY STONEHEART?!
Haydos Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 A LOT of the moaning about the changes is unjustified. These are the two most boring books in terms of what would make for good telly. I've said it again and again but people don't seem to get it. Saying that, the whole Dorne thing has been a mess, the sand snakes are awful. Jaime and Bronn just walzing into the water gardens and up to the princess in like 8 seconds with no challenge, what's that about? I think the Sansa arc is fine, as long as they go somewhere with it, not just make her a victim of abuse yet again. LADY ****ING STONEHEART IS NOT A MAIN PART OF THE STORY, THE PURGE OF FREYS IN THE RIVERLANDS IS NOT THAT IMPORTANT FOR A SHOW THAT DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH SCREEN TIME FOR CHARACTERS AS IT IS AND INTRODUCING HER WOULD BE STUPID AND POINTLESS.

Sansa being raped completely undermines her entire arc as well Not if she overcomes it. It was inevitable as soon as they started this plotline, she's marrying a psychopath, what do people think would happen on her wedding night? It may become apparent that it was the wrong thing to do but we don't know what they have in store for her yet. This season has been the worst but it's not purely down to divergences from the book and I wish people would stop whining about it. It's down to things like writing shit Dornish characters and the content they've filled in has not been good enough.

I agree it is not purely down to divergences from the book, but when the divergences from the book are so poorly done it makes it even more frustrating, Margery/Cersei storyline was so well done in the book and the pay off was excellent and unexpected. They have turned Margery into a smirking schemer, which is not her character. The tv show storyline makes no real sense, his squire knows he has a birthmark? That isn't proof of anything, he is his squire he dresses him and looks after him, tends to his wounds, in this world people swim and bathe naked together. It also doesn't give anyway for this to be turned back on Cersei, the only thing I can think of is exposing her relationship with Jamie, but that would illegitimate Tommen as King, it also wouldn't prove Margery's innocence. The whole point is Cersei makes everyone think an innocent Margery is guilty, but in this scenario she is guilty and Cersei has done nothing wrong. As for Sansa, the rape scene was unnecessary and weird, I know what you are saying about what did they expect on her wedding night, but why make it so unpleasant, it would have been a much more interesting variation if Sansa had turned the tables and instead of meekly surrendering to him, and instead fvcked him on her terms, showing her progression from being bullied and abused by Joffrey to dominating a sick fvck like Ramsey, taking away his power and leading to him being frustrated that he can't scare her.

I get the confusion here at the moment but I feel like they must be going somewhere with it. If they don't then I'll hold my hands up and say it was poorly done. I also think (strangely) that that scene was as much about Theon as it was about Sansa. Alfie Allen's performance was superb as always. I agree that a normal development of her would have her 'playing the game' and I'm a little confused as to why she's effectively taken a step backwards from a writing point of view. Again, this is down to how the adaptation is carried out, not just that it is different.

Completely agree but this is a thread for annoyed fans of the books, the other thread should be for discussing the merits of the various plot lines aside from the book, but this is somewhere to be really annoyed about it not being exactly like the book. Just the fact that it is Sansa and not fake Arya makes Theon's whole arc make no sense, in the book Roose let him have some of his identity back to sell the fake Arya, now it is real Sansa there is no need for him to be anything other than the snivelling Reek, and he serves no further purpose so what does it matter if Ramsey tortures and kills him.

Haydos Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 There ARE no boring books in this series. you're missing the point of this thread. I know, the other thread disappeared earlier so i just assumed this is where it was being discussed. Anyway, all whining together is going to get boring There are no boring books, I agree. Feast is possibly my favourite book and Jaime quickly became one of my favourite characters. The world building in that book is fantastic but it just doesn't make for good television. There isn't that much in the last two books that does. It's the aftermath of the war and there's different themes and the pace is completely different. Dance + Feast is like the first act of a new book.
ramboacdc Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 lady stone heart is important! as is the brotherhood! if not who is going to try to kill pod and briene? thay was needing to come at the end of season 4, it even lead upto it. the whole thing of her finding aryia and killing the hound was bullshit in my eyes. are we all forgetting that balon greyjoy has died and no one has mentioned it...apart from in the dwarf show at joffreys wedding? wheres the fleet to essos?
richardsfoxes Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 They have 10 hours a season to thousands of pages in a book, obviously less important things are going to be missed, i like some of the changes but dislike others, lets be honest Dorne this season has been terrible and i dont like jamies situation in dorne but going to Riverlands would of been pointless in show just not enough time. On to Sansa's this season, i think its a good change its pretty obvious that eventually Sansa would go north anyway in twow with harry, i also think its pretty obvious that she will re take Winterfell at the end of this season/start of next. The one major thing i am disappointed with however is the lack of Manderly by far the best thing in adwd.

I don't know why/if Balon has been ditched. Slight chance they're bringing the Greyjoys into it again next season but their storyline has possibly been cut. It's a shame because there were some great characters but again, LIMITED SCREEN TIME AVAILABLE. So far you want Euron, Balan, Victarion, Asha, and Stoneheart, that's too much, it just wouldn't work, things have to be cut. What if Brienne and Pod aren't actually that important? She's in like two chapters tops in the books. It was a great reveal, don't get me wrong, it's just not necessary in a medium like TV. Why was Brienne killing the Hound bullshit? He 'dies of wounds' anyway in the book? It was a bit contrived but nothing worth moaning about. It is weird that they brought the brotherhood in and gave them screen time then just ditched them though.

Manderly rousing the Northern lords is awesome in the book, I'm really disappointed they don't seem to be going anywhere with that because he's a great character and White Harbour would have been cool to see. The North Remembers speech was probably condensed to the smallfolk at Winterfell that we've seen talking to Brienne and Sansa. I guess we could have Sansa rising up and taking Manderly's place which wouldn't be the end of the world.

Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 Lady Stoneheart is key to Jaime and Briennes story and probably was one of the biggest shocks in the story so far, the Brotherhood Without Banners was a good storyline and revenge against the Freys would keep viewers happy. Also disappointed with the cutting of the Manderly's but for different reasons. Davos is my favorite character and I'm really looking forward to his trip to Skaagos.
richardsfoxes Posted 19 May 2015 Posted 19 May 2015 I still think we will see a Northern lord come to the fray soon and deliver manderlys speech (Prob Greatjon), i also think we will see a dead Ramsey/Fat walda this season.
