Scow Posted 27 August 2004 Posted 27 August 2004 Link - Leicester Mercury There was no-one more delighted to see James Scowcroft back on the training ground yesterday than the player himself. The 28-year-old looked set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after hobbling away from the Walkers Stadium on crutches last Saturday following City's 1-0 defeat to Watford. Scowcroft damaged a shin bone during the second half but was forced to play on because all three substitutes had already been used by manager Micky Adams. "One of their players caught me flush in the shin with their knee, it went straight through my shinpad and the bruise came up straight away. "I had to hobble on but, at the time, I did fear the worst and after the game a few of the medical advisors thought that I might have suffered a hairline fracture," he said. "So Saturday night was spent in hospital having the shin X-rayed and I breathed a huge sigh of relief when they informed me that it wasn't cracked." After several days of rehabilitation, Scowcroft is confident that he will be fit enough to line up for City against Wolves at Molineux tomorrow afternoon. "It's great to be back in training," he added. "I worked hard with the physios during the early part of the week to get the full bruising out and that's what we have almost done. "The shin is just strapped up now and, while it is still a bit swollen, I think I have got a good chance of playing tomorrow." The former England Under-21 international is one of the few remaining members of the City side who was involved at Molineux last season when they threw away a three-goal advantage before losing 4-3. "It's a big game for obvious reasons but a lot has changed with both teams since that day," he said. "We want to do well and improve on our start but the Championship is a hard league and it's important that everyone connected with the club doesn't underestimate it. "Just because we got promoted two seasons ago doesn't necessarily guarantee us it again. "Because we are one of the favourites, a lot of teams are going to come to the Walkers Stadium, like Watford did last week, get behind the ball and then try to catch us on the break. "It won't be an easy ride this term but I still think we are good enough to do what we set out to do and that is to go up." Looks like he should be starting against Wolves then - I'm sure this will delight plenty of people.
Wellman Posted 27 August 2004 Posted 27 August 2004 i didn't think he was very good last year but so far he's been playing v well. So this is good because he is one of our better players

This certainly is his level.
Cat Burger Posted 27 August 2004 Posted 27 August 2004 He was pretty good against Watford before he got injured I have to admit.
Buzzell Posted 27 August 2004 Posted 27 August 2004 Its going to be great to see the 'Great Mole' in the team once again, no im being serious!
Hullfox Posted 27 August 2004 Posted 27 August 2004 I'm a big fan of Scowy but it would be interesting to see how we perform without him. It might make some of his critics see his value or indeed vice versa.

Steven Posted 27 August 2004 Posted 27 August 2004 I am pleased he is not injured, I would be even more pleased if MA explored the possiblities by not playing him in the starting line up. :: <_<
