Matt Posted 16 September 2015 Posted 16 September 2015 An Irish group who had a worldwide hit with a song about the Celtic roots of the US President have penned a tune about Leicester City. The Corrigan Brothers, who shot to fame with their song 'There's No-one as Irish as Barack Obama' in 2008, felt moved to words by the Foxes' thrilling comeback at the King Power stadium on Sunday. Ger Corrigan was inspired after watching Leicester City fight back from 2-0 down to beat Aston Villa 3-2. Ger, who lives in Limerick, said: "I watched the game live on my television with my 14-year-old son Hughie. "I could not believe my eyes. What a comeback. Any other team, would have been beaten losing 2-0 with 20 minutes to go. "But this amazing Leicester team kept the faith and believed they could win. They kept on playing football and came through in the end. "As soon as the final whistle went I felt moved to put pen to paper to pay tribute to Claudio Ranieri's men." Ger said he and his two brothers Brian and Donnecha - who make up the bad, are to go into the studio this week to put music to the lyrics. He said: "Once we have got the track sorted we would like to go over to Leicester City to play the sing before the game or at half-time. It would be an honour." LCFC ambassador Alan Birchenall said: "Our fans are always coming up with new ways to support the team, so nothing surprises me anymore. The atmosphere so far this season has been absolutely fantastic. "If our performances are inspiring people to write songs, the lads must be doing something right." *'There's No-one as Irish as Barack Obama' has been viewed more than 1.3 million times onYouTube and the single charted in Ireland and America. The band, formerly known as Hardy Drew & The Nancy Boys, wrote the song after Barack Obama revealed that his great-great-great grandfather was from the village of Moneygall in Limerick. Mr Obama and his wife Michelle visited Moneygall in 2011 and met the band.
