Vardy Street

Lineker Road exists. All those roads in Rushy Mead that are named after living golfers too. That's just off the top of my head, so I'm sure there's more examples around Leicester and the rest of the U.K.

So basically you're talking out your arse lol

Rowlatts Hill roads are named after cricketers ??'75?? county champions.

All named before the afore mentioned Savile.

Times change and so do the rules.  It would be a brave councillor that puts his/her name to it.

Can't find Leicesters policy but here is a quote from Durham's (1st one I found)

GUIDELINES FOR STREET NAMING

7.10 Naming a street after a living person is not permitted, in order to avoid offence either by inclusion or exclusion of an individual name. Only exceptional circumstances will be given consideration requiring the approval of the Council’s Head of Technical Services, and all other criteria within this policy are met.

Lineker Road is only about 10 years old. lol Times change lol

So what you're saying is they don't generally name them after living people, but if there's an exceptional circumstances, such as breaking a longstanding top flight scoring record, or in the case of the squad winning the most unlikeliest title in history, then they'll probably make an exception.

If Lineker passed the exceptional circumstances criteria whilst he's still alive I'm pretty sure Vardy and co would pass that test.

Thank heavens Sunderland are rubbish and haven't had anyone good enough to break any records or win anything.

All I'm saying is it's happened, so it's obviously not banned. I can see why they might prefer not to, but they will and have done so under certain circumstances.

I'm sure if wasn't possible the mayor would never have suggested it, so stop being such a pedantic twat.

Oh and in the unlikely event Vardy or half the rest of the squad turn out to be nonces, then I'm pretty sure having changed the name of a street once, they could easily change it back.

Can we sing a song for you, Vardy Street? To the tune of Baker Street, of course:

Winding your way down on Vardy Street

Light in your head and speed on your feet

Well, another crazy day

You'll shoot the league away
