gurru991 Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 You're arguing against a point no one has ever made though. No one has said its because of pearson and just pearson we're top now, what they've said is ranieri wouldn't have been able to do this if pearson hadn't laid the ground work for this side, and anyone who disputes we'd have been in a much worse position for someone taking over last summer if we hadn't have had pearson is either drunk or an idiot. It is possible to be both
Rincewind Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 City could be near the bottom again if Pearson was still in charge and I say that as one who praised him and was not sure whether getting rid was right. But the owners obviously knew something the fans did not and maybe had done research into CR long before the Thailand affair. They were aware of what sort of manager was needed for a top10 place which would have been their initial aim but did not want someone that would take the team to survival 40pts status. That may have been the difference Pearson target 40pt for next few seasons. Reineri target 40pts first half of the season and improve the following season. Well it may be difficult to improve on the season unless we achieve the domestic treble and the Euro champion Trophy.

To be honest Rince I think the only reason NP went was because of the Thailand affair and previous little faux pas .... I don't think it was anything to do with his ability as a manger. And as for CR, if rumours are to be believed then he was not the first choice for new manager (I think MON said he was asked) ..... I don't think we would be near the bottom if NP was here now but I agree it is VERY unlikely that we would be doing better. Fate took a hand and here we are !!
