Vardy claims Ranieri is a insomniac with a workaholic tendency.

**Not sure it is always a good thing. It seems CR is resting the players but not himself.**

Jamie Vardy has revealed the extraordinary lengths to which Claudio Ranieri goes to keep Leicester City’s title bid alive.

Vardy said Ranieri stays up all night studying rivals and called Leicester's season a “theme park ride”. The England striker believes Ranieri has worked wonders taking the Foxes to the top of the Premier League.

Leicester host Norwich on Saturday with a two-point lead after a heart-breaking late 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in their last game.

Ranieri replaced Nigel Pearson in the summer and Vardy - the league's 19-goal top scorer - said the former Chelsea boss is the best he has worked with and rarely rests.

He said: “I think he examines every single aspect of every opposition we’re playing. He comes into our team meetings where he's been up all night watching 50-60 clips of just one of the opposition's players and he will tell you exactly what he’s done in 49 of them and what he did in the other 11.

“It’s mental how much detail he goes into but it's a help to us and hopefully gives us an advantage.”

When asked to describe Leicester's season in three words Vardy told Betfair: “Theme park ride.”

Ranieri gave the players last week off before they returned on Monday to prepare for the visit of the Canaries. They were given a programme to follow and had heart rate monitors to track their progress, and Ranieri has been pleased with the results.

He said: “I gave the players some programmes and they respected it and worked well. We had their GPS and when they came back the results were good. I trust them because they are very professional players. I gambled with them - we did not achieve nine points because we lost to Arsenal but they played well.”

Ranieri returned to Italy during Leicester's break and watched Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Roma in the Champions League, and admitted he rarely switches off.

“I bring my laptop with me. If I have a spare hour I watch - then spend time with my family - then another hour. I went to watch Roma and Real Madrid - I scouted Ronaldo, not a bad young player,” he joked.

Daniel Amartey is likely to be included against Norwich as he prepares to make his debut following a January move from FC Copenhagen and Jeff Schlupp is back after a hamstring injury, but Danny Simpson is suspended.

Ranieri added: “I can put (Marcin) Wasilewski in again (at right back) I can put Amartey or (Marc) Albrighton maybe. I think Amartey is ready, he played against Man City's under-21s and played 90 minutes.”

Thats the bit I like.    If most of the others feel like that AND the backroom staff are the same, then that bodes well for keeping people at the club and for us to progress even further.

I can understand about the detail he goes into each match. The defence looks so organised week in week out. We're successful because we're very good at what we do, we defend as a unit, and we use our attacking players for the counter attacks, credit to CR/coaching staff for recognizing this is the best method for us to play. Keeping the same line up mostly every game helps too. Every player in the side knows and understands their roles within the team, and they accomplish their roles with quality and effort.

Agree, however he wouldn't come out and say Nigel Pearson is the best he's worked with (for example) while working for Ranieri. Think it has to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Not sure about that .... I think JV tells it like it is .... Ask that bloke in the casino.

Still grates on me the amount of 'it's all down to Pearson' going about, cant seem to get through a single game without the commentators saying something regarding Pearson and this seasons success. I think those claiming that are ****ing blind. So so so much has changed about our game since Ranieri came in. Literally so much. Ranieri needs to take the credit for this season and I'm pretty sure he won't get as much as he deserves. Good to hear players talking like this to dispel the myth. Mahrez has also said how much his game has improved under Ranieri. I get what Pearson did for the club, it was immense, he changed the game for us BUT he is not the reason Leicester City are top of the table THIS season. It's down to the players, the recruiting staff and Ranieri. Pearson was ****ing shit last season until backs were well and truly against the wall and it gave us the freedom to go and play tooth and nail football. In fact I'm pretty sick of just hearing anything about Pearson. He's shown himself up again lately trying to even take the credit for this season himself. When will we all be able to move on? We don't have endless talk of Brian Little, Micky Adams et al or even for that matter Martin O'Neil who was and always will be worth of godlike status at this club, way ahead of Nige.

Not fishing. It's fact. Pearson has nothing to do with this season, sure we can go on about how these are 'his players' etc, but if so even he couldn't get better out of them than Ranieri. Anybody remember our defence last season? They were shit.

Not only that, but just to add, we get a lot of talk on here mocking all the pundits for saying at the start of the season what a disaster Ranieri would be. I remember much the same on here, in fact I have some staunch Pearson supporter friends who posted some right shit on facebook when we took Ranieri on, it all got a little bit embarrassing with the whining and slating of anyone other than Nige but now those same people are openly mocking the media...

Cool. I've repped you as an opinion is an opinion but mine is that I'm firmly living in 2016 and as a City fan it's probably the best year of my life. I've given Pearson the credit he deserves for his time here, but I can't accept the constant credit he is getting for THIS season. It's not irrational.

Nah he's at least partly right.

I like Pearson but ranieri is doing far better than he ever could.

Pearson takes some credit for our success but not to this extent.

You're arguing against a point no one has ever made though. No one has said its because of pearson and just pearson we're top now, what they've said is ranieri wouldn't have been able to do this if pearson hadn't laid the ground work for this side, and anyone who disputes we'd have been in a much worse position for someone taking over last summer if we hadn't have had pearson is either drunk or an idiot.

For some reason I thought initially you were on about "The secret footballer" and was like, "that's odd, I haven't seen him mentioned in here, had he taken a pop at Vardy in a recent column?

I then viewed the posts below that and realised you're on about the poster named "secret pro" on here - doh!
