Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 I'm wondering why you think Spurs fans are cocks and which forums you guys peruse to give you this opinion? A lot of what is posted on the Fighting Cock gets reposted here and about 80% of the users seem incredibly bitter and hell-bent on taking credit away from our success. Jonathan Liew (some "journalist", and Spurs fan) has a massive grudge against Vardy and frequently writes up bullshit about how he's a "massive racist". Several pundits who have connections to Spurs have tried to claim we are undeserving of our position and don't play "good football" whatever that is. I know two Spurs supporters, one is decent but knows bugger all about football the other is a huge shaft who I only talk to as he is a friend of a brother. In the FA Cup replay this season, two Spurs fans were sat next to me and were both massive bellends. Overall it's the bitterness, have not witnessed anything like it before especially when Leicester are receiving praise from all over the world. But because we don't pass it around the back for 45 minutes per game then we're shit. And winning 1-0 doesn't count so really we're only about 6th in the table
mikey54 Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Hi Another Spurs fan here. Just wanted to ask one question as it grates on me a little when I read certain posts on here about us as a fan base. I'm wondering why you think Spurs fans are cocks and which forums you guys peruse to give you this opinion? Good luck for the rest of the season. Regardless of outcome in May, it's nice that we've both upset the mean and are looking down on the Sky favourites. I've read some of the messages on The Fighting Cock forum - hopefully they're in the minority
Danizen Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Hi Another Spurs fan here. All the links I've seen on here are from Fighting Cocks. Also, 90% of Tweets I see from Spurs fans are cocky, arrogant and entitled and the general opinion is we're lucky, doping, playing shit football, racist and just an absolute disgrace to the league but obviously that's Twitter. It's full of nobs from all clubs. And if you've seen any of the 'Spurs fans...' comments on here, they're tongue in cheek, don't worry.
SpursInPeace Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 Fair enough. I don't use the Fighting Cock nor do I read it. I listen to their podcast and they are reasonable and leveled most of the time, so I imagine their forum is full of muppets. The only one I am a member of is SpursCommunity which is filled with mostly reasonable posters although you will find your share of bell ends anywhere if enough people are about. I read a lot of what is posted on Twitter and it is really filled With a load of nonsense a lot of the time, especially during games where stuff gets posted In heat of the moment situations, regardless it is still embarassing reading some of what is posted. I'd like to think these idiots are the minority of the fan base as most of use have been through the tough years of mediocrity in the 90s and early 00s and so are enjoying the ride a long with Leicester and seeing what comes at seasons end.
Shelf Side Spurs Posted 14 April 2016 Author Posted 14 April 2016 As has been said previously, it's a range of factors. It did not take many games for Ranieri to find his preferred starting XI. I believe our team has the fewest changes to the starting lineup in the league this season, which along with the tactical adjustments throughout the season, has contributed to the solidity and 'predictable' performances we've seen recently. Obviously there are a range of supporting factors like the sports science team, the scouting team, the coaches, physios and even the groundsmen (we always seem to have a perfect pitch) who have all been more or less crucial to this along with the great facilities we have. The work ethos and good spirit I believe is a legacy from Pearson's time here and it remains to be seen if Ranieri and his staff can continuously recreate this atmosphere once team members inevitably leave. Our players have naturally risen in the estimation of our fans and other football people in general this season. At the start of it, a lot of us had serious reservations about Morgan, Simpson, Schlupp and Drinkwater to name but some. Inler was seen as the high-calibre replacement for the 'indispensable' Cambiasso, but it turns out he's been a poor signing so far from a return on investment point of view. Likewise, Kramaric, our record-signing, had us expecting fireworks only to get loaned out to Hoffenheim halfway through this season. Even Okazaki, another expensive acquisition and who's a regular starter, is not exactly prolific or productive. The main transfer successes in recent seasons have been the cheap-ish ones like Vardy, Mahrez, Huth, Kanté, Albrighton and Fuchs who cost about the same as Kramaric in total. My point being it's not necessarily expensive to get good players. You just neet the right screening, scouting and timing. My guess, like yours, is that our transfer policy will be to hold on to our key players by rewarding them with big contracts and convince them to stay for at least one more season. Parallel to this, we will look to blood youngsters (like Dodoo and Chilwell this season) and bring in talented younger players with a view to replace first-teamers within a season or two (like Gray, Iversen and Amartey). As for positions to strengthen, I think we will mainly look to add depth to the squad with European commitments on the horizon. Realistically, the first XI personnel that could be vulnerable to replacement would be Okazaki and to a lesser extent Albrighton and Simpson. As mentioned above, it will be interesting to see how Ranieri deals with Inler, James, De Laet, Moore and Kramaric over the summer, players who have all struggled for one reason or another. Will they be given further chances and how would them leaving affect the current squad and potential new players? I think you'll find that players improve in their second and third seasons quite dramatically...assuming their given game time. It's taken Lamela 3 seasons to get anywhere near our expectation but he was MOTM against United and has played consistently well this season. We're hopeful of the same thing for Son and N'Jie who has been injured. To our untrained eye, Okazaki looks like a real bundle of energy and dangerous...presumably keeping Ulloa out of the team as well and yet he did well last season for you didn't he? Chilwell is going to be good, you'll need to try and keep him. I was also impressed with your 'squad' team that played us in the FA Cup and to be honest should have won the first game you may have enough cover already based on some of their performances this year....also playing in the CL on Tues/Weds and then usually again on Sunday shouldn't take too much out of your first XI...it's EL that's the killer Thursday night and Sunday with so many more games as well....you've done well to go straight in at the top, especially as you'll probably get seeded.
Westerby Posted 14 April 2016 Posted 14 April 2016 I love the (presumed) typo in this piece from the Daily Express. https://t.co/w3fSlWVDq5 It claims Spurs are our closet (sic) rivals.
Shinji-San Posted 15 April 2016 Posted 15 April 2016 Kane vs Vardy, tough call, expert marksman vs opportunistic speedster.. right now, instincts say Vardy. Loved the way he finished 1st goal vs Sunderland.
Leicester_Numan Posted 15 April 2016 Posted 15 April 2016 Hi Another Spurs fan here. Just wanted to ask one question as it grates on me a little when I read certain posts on here about us as a fan base. I'm wondering why you think Spurs fans are cocks and which forums you guys peruse to give you this opinion? It's mainly the Tottenham twitter army who have overtaken Arsenal as the biggest bunch of childish, whining, accusatory conspiracy theorists. We're all aware that it's the Arsenal fans who started all the accusations of doping and match-fixing and were crying over every little thing but your lot not only joined in, you got worse than them which takes some doing. Add to that the bell-ends on TFC and we start to get a really bad impression of Spurs fans this season which is actually at odds with the Spurs fans we know in our lives. Hopefully, you'll all give up and go back to being relatively normal in comparison to Arsenal, you're certainly a much more likeable club than them with a team that isn't a bunch of diving, ref chasing, card waving, poncey, bottle jobs but some of your fan base are ruining it for you and trying to ruin it for us as well. Good luck for the rest of the season. Regardless of outcome in May, it's nice that we've both upset the mean and are looking down on the Sky favourites.

SpursInPeace Posted 15 April 2016 Posted 15 April 2016 Blimey, what happened to that post Haha no worries I figured it out. I think you guys should steer clear of the Fighting Cock as a lot of them are exactly that it seems. I've spent a lot of yesterday evening reading the drivel Posted on there. I'm not sure if you need to join to read what's posted on SpursCommunity but I think it's a lot more balanced discussion than TFC. As for twitter, it's full of keyboard warriors and conspiracies so id never take what I see there as the mean
drofmor56 Posted 15 April 2016 Posted 15 April 2016 Never had a problem with Spurs fans always willing to give credit where its due,a few idiots but every club has those. But dont get me started on Arsenal...2 FA cup wins in a row ,Champions league 17 years in a row whilst financing a new stadium and then they lose 2 games in a row and its straight onto the phone in's saying Wenger's a disgrace..what a bunch of moaning prats. Think Spurs will do well over the next few seasons. Only English club i could see Potchetinio leaving for would have been Man City but Guardiolas there now, but wouldnt surprise me if Barca or Real M. had at look at him.He managed in Spain before with Espanyol. Also think Barca and Real would be looking at Kane and Alli, but given their ages they need to stay at Spurs for another couple of seasons. Kane or Vardy ? both please ! Really think Woy will be missing a trick if he doesnt play these two alongside each other. Both clever players they will work out a way to play alongside each other...Loved the way Vardy tried to hide behind a Sunderland player when thier full back was thinking of playing back to the goalie,it almost worked.
Guest LCFC_World Posted 15 April 2016 Posted 15 April 2016 Is it annoying that other clubs/media seem to think it's 'lucky' and that Leicester don't seem to be held in the same esteem as if Chelsea, City or United were top....? Personally I think that's totally wrong, you're there on merit. Call it what you want, luck will not get top 4... What do you think the success is based on? team work (my view) or individual performances of players like Kante, Vardy, Mahrez, Morgan, etc. Team work 100%. Is this down to the end of last season and Pearson or should Ranieri take the credit? Both played huge roles for this seasons success IMO. Can you do it again next year...or do you fear losing players (personally I think and hope they will all stay)? Maybe we can challenge for top 4 again who knows. How will you get on in the Champions League....personally with the current team, belief and mindset I think you'll be fine, exciting times eh? I went to Milan twice and Madrid with Spurs...they are fantastic days regardless of result. Don't thing we will win it but we won't lose 5-0 like everyone is saying. Who do you honestly think is better..Vardy or Kane? Whilst they're both fantastic goal scorers, I think Kane contribute more all over the pitch than Vardy...Vardy is probably more clinical? Vardy. Much more exciting but in the long term Kane will be better. Whats your view of Spurs this season, the players, fans and future....we had some right old battles in January, you won the big one 1-0..I was there, gutted. Good squad, you will do well for years to come so let us have this one yeah. I can't see the wheels coming off....so enjoy the celebration if it happens and next years away days across Europe. I'd be interested in the above questions if you fancy answering them and I wonder if we're all potentially looking forward to seeing gary Lineker presenting Match of the Day in his pants.....any of you lot got a decent bet on? I wish I took 5000/1!

Ah but Lamela was a huge outlay after the sale of Bale. And he was young when he arrived, so you can accept the persistence with him. Morgan, Simpson and Drinkwater didn't have the best of seasons last season and it looked to be a case of a bridge too far, as none of them are particularly young. I think many teams would have deemed them too light and binned them off, but maybe against expectations, all three have stepped up massively this season. In contrast you have Kanté, Cambiasso, Huth, Fuchs and arguably Albrighton who've been instant successes. I think you'll find that many Prem teams don't feel they have the luxury of being patient with players, so my impression is that teams like Leicester, Spurs and Bournemouth are bucking the trend a bit here. Okazaki is a bundle of energy for sure, but his skill set is a bit enigmatic. He's not a great finisher, dribbler or passer, he gets bullied out of games, can head but rarely wins aerial duels and doesn't have the pace to run past defenders like Vardy. In my view he's a limited striker but he's playing a role that doesn't allow him to showcase his striker skills too often. Ulloa was vital for us last season, but in our current tactical setup, playing him feels like trying to squeeze a square peg through a round hole. I too have been impressed with our 'squad' players and many of our fans dismissed the "lack of squad depth" perception that was prevalent around New Year. They might be lesser well known names, but the likes of King, De Laet, Wasilewski, Schlupp and Chilwell have proven very dependable.
Shelf Side Spurs Posted 15 April 2016 Author Posted 15 April 2016 Catch up after the weekend.........well after Monday night actually!! Squeaky bum time, more so for us than you. Finishing 4th looks like it might be a drama if City win the CL and Liverpool win the EL....some performance by them last night, amazing atmosphere, good manager and I don't even like Liverpool very much at all... but respect where it's due.
