Leicester new boy Ahmed Musa aiming for another title - and says Foxes' intensity can take them to glory

New record signing Ahmed Musainsists he has joined Leicester to propel them to the Premier League title again after helping CSKA Moscow to the Russian crown.

The Nigerian international striker is looking forward to teaming up with Jamie Vardy in attack after completing a £16million switch from the Russian champs.

Defending champions Leicester have lost N’Golo Kante to Chelsea but Musa is sure the Foxes will still challenge for back-to-back titles after a baptism of fire at their Austrian training camp in the hills of Stegersbach.

He admits being shocked by the intensity of training and ferocity of challenges – particularly from rugged Polish stopper Marcin Wasilewski.

But Musa reckons Leicester’s preparations will serve them well when they commence their Premier League defence on August 13 at promoted Hull.

Welcome: Veteran powerhouse Wasilewski has already given Musa a few knocks

Musa, who scored 54 goals in 168 games for CSKA after joining in 2012, insisted: “My target is to win the league and I think we can do it again.

“There is a lot of spirit and hard work in the team. We will just keep our focus.

“The intensity here is quite different to Russia. In Russia they are more laid-back but I am getting used to it.

“I think that is the most difficult thing. When I started my first session I was like – wow. I have never seen that in Russia but now I am getting used to it – even Wasilewski!

“I think that is the secret behind Leicester’s success. Everyone is focused, everyone is happy with each other. I think that’s the biggest secret – if you’re all happy with each other you can achieve a lot.”

Musa’s transfer to the King Power Stadium completed a protracted chase for the quick striker who boss Claudio Ranieri originally tried to sign in January.

Now Musa is looking forward to life in England and the Premier League after a glowing report from Nigerian compatriot Nwankwo Kanu, who won the title twice with Arsenal.

He added: “I took some advice from Kanu. He told me a lot about England and Leicester City. He told me it was a very good club for me to choose.

“I’m going to do whatever it takes to become a Premier League legend like him but I still have a long way to go.

“He won the league with Arsenal. He is probably Nigeria’s most famous footballer. I knew him when I start playing in the national team but now I am friends with him.”

Europe: And Musa arrives with plenty of Champions League experience

Musa, who has 11 goals in 58 appearances for Nigeria since making his debut in 2010, aims to hit it off with England striker Vardy too.

Vardy has been given extra time off after Euro 2016 but will link up with his team-mates at the end of the month when they play PSG on July 30 in Los Angeles in the International Champions Cup.

Boss Ranieri has hailed rapid Musa as the latest addition to his “RAF” counter-attacking team ahead of their first pre-season friendly at Oxford on Tuesday.

Musa is versatile enough to use off the flanks or down the middle giving Leicester the option to potentially go 4-3-3.

“I’m looking forward to playing with Vardy,” said Musa, who has moved to England with his wife and two young children. “I like his style. I think we can fit well together.

“I think I am like Vardy. I have speed, I like to work hard, we are similar in lots of things.

“Perhaps I am as fast or faster, I can’t say yet, I have never played with him but I am looking forward to finding out.”

Seems like a perfect addition to the squad. Suits our style, likes to dream, and wants to be here.

What's not to like.

I love his confidence that we can retain the title.

Reading on here over the weekend you would think the FA had relegated us. We've lost one major player but I'd rather have kept Vardy and Mahrez before Kante anyway. Kante will be missed but is the most replaceable, Mahrez and Vardy got an unreal amount of goals and assists between them last season.
