Lets get real here. Its such lazy journalism to say that we wanted him because SW left and Everton bought someone. Does that mean we wanted Williams and Bolasie as well or is it some lazy journo "knowing" we sold Kante and that Everton bought Gueye from under our noses. To me that article you quote is nothing solid and I cant remember reading anywhere that we wanted him before Everton got him. A lot of us may have wanted him to come but that is totally different from the club actually showing an interest and not bidding on him.

IMO if the Champions of England, a fellow Midlands club and a Champion League club comes for a relegated player who has a buy-out clause then he comes to us ahead of Everton all day long. A similar thing happened with Zieler who had decent stats last season despite getting relegated and was wanted by a few clubs but he chose us. The point I am making is if we went for him early like we did Zieler and Hernandez when his clause was activated due to Villas relegation then we would have done the deal in late May or Early June. With all of that I cant see how we wanted him!!! We DIDNT make a move for him. Surely if we did the infamous "Sky sources" would have been all over it like a rash. How do we know that Silva and N`Zonzi who we were linked to strongly and allegedly bid on weren't SW/CR first and second choices (ahead of someone like Gueye) and we were waiting for them first? If we wanted him, he had a buy out clause and we would have had him for £7m. I think this is the bit you refuse to understand.

As for my comment on "experts" and the forum, yeah I get it. Forums are full of know it alls who turn into agents, tacticians, managers and even psychologists like they are in the players minds. I get that and I`ll know doubt be "playing manager" myselft, however, on a personal level regarding transfers, I`d like something a little more solid before I point an accusing finger at the club or manager like they did something wrong. I suppose the annoying thing about your post is that you are blaming the club for no reason. I get it regarding Gueye, he looks like a serious player and was cheap and maybe we should have made a move when you look at the stats and the transfer fee he was available for but I was also pissed off when Cantona left Leeds for United back in the day, I wish we bought Roy Keane for 50k from Ireland, bought Ian Wright on a free from non league before he went to Palace and bought Anelka from PSG for £500k instead of Arsenal. Im sure Mourinho is now looking at Gueye and thinking he would be perfect for their midfield. Maybe Wenger wishes he didnt spend nearly £40m on Xhaka as well and went for Gueye?!

I suppose the thing that comes across as really strange and ironic is you start a thread and it seems like you are about to praise DD`s stats and then not say a single word about him and his performance but drop a line on how wonderful Gueye is. You should have started the thread "Who would you prefer Gueye or DD" instead as that would have made more sense!

Re: your last sentance.

The title of the thead may not be the best, but having read through it's clear to see the OP had no inclination toward your suggestion. His idea is that we should have  Gueye ALONGSIDE DD, as is mine.

Also if I were you I shouldn't worry so much and get irate about people 'pointing accusing fingers at the club and manager'.

This is a forum for opinions and chewing the fat. It's not as if anyone's saying Claudio and the Thais should go because theyve not done what I and the OP suggest they should have done on one piece of transfer business ffs!

Boss? LOL!!!!

Why are you quoting Everton stuff? Maybe Mendy was his first choice for us? Maybe he didnt rate Gueye that high for his then club Leicester but after so many deals went through he had less options and Gueye was one of the possibles for Everton. I cant believe a player that Villa bought for 9m I think it was is then available one season later for LESS at 7m and Ranieri said no. I cant see it in a million years. Thats why its such a non-story. We dont need the experts of the game like yourself telling us how great players are as basically you dont know any more than any of us who have access to youtube, club forums and normal media outlets.

Back to your original post, lets talk DD and dont worry about any of the players who we should or could have moved for because once again, we didnt!!!!

He's quoting Everton stuff here btw as its pivotal to the matter you are whinging about him bringing up ie, Gueye!

Can't be bothered reading through all that drivel, but as far as not say a single word about DD you obviously missed the bit about him holding his own,

Maybe read through things twice before you go on the rant!!

cant see any articles saying we wanted/missed out of Williams or Bolasie so that's your theory out the window

I suppose my issue is I`d rather back the lads we have and not do what some fans do and talk about the ones we didnt get. Before we rate Gueye lets see if Mendy or Amartey are any good. Amartey in particular has one hell of an engine, great speed, solid in the air, decent passer but he may be a bit tentative as he probably feels a little out of his depth playing win such company. Lets hope he proves a lot of people wrong who wanted Gueye or even Silva and that he or even Mendy do a job for us in the middle of the park alongside DD.

If Kunte's release clause for CL teams only was real, we should have refused to go unless to a CL team. Juve wanted him. We could have done a straight swap for Lemina. We didn't really need the money, getting another quality CM would have been better. The owners and tv deals still gave us enough to still buy Slim.

Wasn't it Vardy who had the CL-only release clause, as far as I remember Kante had a 'complex' release clause (speculated to be highest bid only regardless of CL status)

Yeah, I don't think anyone knows what was up with Kunte's release clause. Some have said 20m for a CL team though.

Unless Sven really did do us a favour, fvck even if he did, a sort of "highest-bidder" release clause makes no sense to me though. What if clubs were bidding +1 pound until the window shut?! If they knew about the clause at all, then they wouldn't have bid more than 20m. Or what if a PL team like Man U thought "if we can't get Kunte, we better not let title rivals Chelsea get him" and then bid 100m but offered shit wages so they wouldn't have to pay the money but Kunte wouldn't be able to transfer to Chelsea for so cheap.
