If someone hasn't got enough security around their social media accounts to prevent an interviewer finding out anything other than elementary stuff about them then quite frankly they probably don't deserve to get hired anyway. ;)

I was pretty happy in my last interview when my boss said he had tried to find me on Facebook and found nothing.

Security settings do work, so does having a strict no colleagues policy.

The bloke who works at the Kings has facial and arm tattoos. He also has a ring in his nose and wears a wooly hat. I would not say he is of low intelligence or stupid. In fact I would say the opposite. He is a tattooist by profession though. Works in a shop on Charles Street.I asked him about a City tattoo but he said that I would have to be sure and that it can be painful.

A good tattooist would point out the drawbacks before doing it.

I can understand somewhat where people are coming from with people's perception of others but has anyone considered that there may be a medical reason for a tattoo? A person may have an unsightly blemish on their face and a tattoo would cover it up. Would you employ someone with a big red splodge on their face? People would still be afraid because that is what it is. Afraid because a person looks different.

There are medical reasons to get a tattoo, but a facial blemish isn't one of them, most people would deem a scar or birthmark more acceptable than a face tattoo, unless it was done so well it covered it up in a way that nobody could recognise it as a tattoo.

Medical tattoos normally involving adding something in to make something appear normal, such as adding a nipple to a breast after a mastectomy.

As it happens, I agree, but what has it got to do with the nanny state? What's wrong with employers deciding for themselves who they wish to employ. It'll soon be illegal to think for yourself. And the BBC's the worst for it - forever trying to foist their questionable ideas and ideals on people.

I wouldn't employ anyone with neck, hand or face tattoos in my business.

It shouts as someone who has made bad decisions and so that would be enough to tell me there would be risks in employing him or her.
