norwichfox Posted 20 November 2016 Posted 20 November 2016 We lost a great asset in Steve Wash and no one seems to be able to manage the team gel the way he did. The current staff are failing quite badly imo and my ruined week starts before we've even kicked a ball on match day when I get a text with the team selection. Given we've had some bad injury problems that didn't manifest themselves last season. We had a team that the whole country wanted to watch last season with a clinical counter attacking force that gave us all some magic moments that will live with us forever. I couldn't pick a newspaper up last year without seeing something on the main sports headlines about our club or one of our players. This season we are dire, to be honest I can barely bring myself to watch a game even when I've recorded it and find myself picking a few games from last season to watch and think we can get back to this....he was only 1 player (you know who I mean) it's made doubly worse by what we achieved last season...."laughing stock" sadly comes to mind much in the way we were extracting the urine at Chelsea's early season form last year....maybe it's a tactic to win the Judas back as it clearly worked for Chelsea.. We just can't sack Claudio after what he did for us, but he just isn't cutting it this season. We've got some real talent who should be given a chance on the pitch even if it's only to wake up the "senior" players, It really does need someone to have the right word in his ear and it appears to me that Craig Shakespeare and Paolo Benetti combined don't even come close to Steve Walsh in the assistant manager capacity. I've no suggestion as to who would fit the bill, but it does appear that we are on a very steep uphill rocky road we struggle to climb in the Premier League and it has a very narrow tarmac cycle path called the Champions league that we're free-wheeling down, trouble is that too many eggs are getting broken in our shopping basket. When the FA Cup gets here, if we haven't progressed any further in the Champions league are we going to abandon sense in the Premiership and throw everything we've got at trying to win it? We are better than this and it needs an influence at the side of Claudio helping him select a team with "the Brotherhood" attitude that was there before they boarded a plane to take part in that Hara-kiri pre season competition and had it removed en-route. I want tears to be going down my face because I'm crying with happiness, not because of another p155 poor performance and bad result. If we win the Champions league, please ignore everything I've written above.....
davieG Posted 20 November 2016 Posted 20 November 2016 Why do you think Walsh was so instrumental with the team gelling surely that would be down more to CR and Shakespeare ?
Foxes1 Posted 20 November 2016 Posted 20 November 2016 Problem was we signed too many young players Kapuska, Uche, Gray etc for the future, its OK doing that but we needed more experienced players in as well which we didn't do.

If we win the Champions league, please ignore everything I've written above..... I'm sorry but if we are in the bottom 3 after christmas and still playing as badly with no sign of him turning it around, I'd expect the owners to show no mercy. Last season is last season, relegation is simply not an option with the money some of our ageing players are on not to mention the enourmous humiliation. We cannot afford to have this attitude that Ranieri is unsackable. Talk of Ranieri being sacked imminently of course is silly. It's 2 defeats, damaging defeats against mediocre opposition, but prior to that 4 or 5 games unbeaten and top of the champions league group. However the manager has to recognize what is not working in the league and take the necessary action. There is no excuse for the way the players are starting matches and continually failing to perform. If he is happy with the players efforts and performances as he alluded to in his post match interview yesterday, we have a problem. I hope behind the scenes he is as pissed off with them as he should be. These players delivered the greatest success in Claudio's entire career, of course he will show unconditional loyalty to the players. But that is the problem, without adding quality and competition to the squad in the summer, there is nothing to push these players on. Remember how Drinkwater raised his game so much last season, yes alongside Kante, but without Inler there to push him would he have played so well and so consistently? Not sure. Remember how he said no big name signings, my lads our special? We needed to strengthen to just stand still. We didn't and we are where we are.

It's my opinion and the opinion of a good few others, see the threads when his leaving was discussed for names .....also where are the Monks when we really need them glory hunters....
Chico1958 Posted 20 November 2016 Posted 20 November 2016 Kante Well you were all thinking it. Honestly, the answer to the question has to be no one. Unless Claudio picks him or her.......................otherwise you're telling the boss "No Confidence" The problem is you've got the Haves and the Have Nots in the dressing room now. That brings, Envy, Jealousy, Frustration, Whisperings, Silent Assassins, Low Moral. Pay Rises are fine if they're seen to be fair. People feel happy and perform to their highest standard when they feel appreciated..............Simples. 120k a week to a 30 year old who we could have got 25 million for. That's not good business. Ask Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Charlie Austin, Saido Berahino etc how they feel ?

Good points, but not the problem, but it surely is another problem that could have a knock on effect that doesn't bear thinking about. No confidence in Claudio....hmmmm perish the thought, 2 good wins in the league in the next 2 matches may change all of our opinions, but neither match is a gimme, they would have been last season.
