Manwell Pablo Posted 13 January 2017 Posted 13 January 2017 We can only sign the players that want to come here and we can afford to pay, so your never going to see us pay 86 million out a window like the big boys unless we were consistently top four. The only criticism in numbers is the fact that we had one major outgoing from the first team and that is the one main area we perhaps did not strengthen and that is one of the main reasons we are where we are. Credit to the club they've recognized their mistake and gone out and attempted to fix it as soon as they could.

What a preposterous suggestion that our club lack ambition. I can't think of better owners we could wish for. I also think that if we recklessly chucked silly money around, we'd end up with some faded superstars, greedy for more wealth, who would upset the precious balance and team spirit. The irony is in Slimani for 30m at 28yo! We have mixed up our signings and seem to be there ready and waiting to snap up a player if he improves us and is the right price. I cant remember a time as a City fan that I actually looked at a rumour of us on the net or sky where we are linked to 30m players thinking this isnt crap. I used to see us linked to 1m players thinking its a dream!!!

Its really strange but it almost seems we have signed a bloke who is one of the best crossers of the ball in the prem! Switching Albrighton to the right and getting a reminder of what quality he has when he can run forward to cross the ball (instead of on the left where he cuts in) is almost eye opening and you could imagine Slimani getting on the end of plenty. I think you are right, we did miss Slim yesterday because of the way we were set up. Poor Vardy didnt have a chance, literally.
Mickyblueeyes Posted 15 January 2017 Posted 15 January 2017 The clubs ambition cannot be faulted really. £80 odd million being spent in 6 months is quite a statement. Man City during their revolution spent that and ended up a top six team albeit transfer fees have come some way in the last few years. Being happy with being above Sunderland and Swansea in terms of ability and being told that the second half performance yesterday was acceptable and a performance we should be happy with, is where the problem lies.
chicagofox Posted 16 January 2017 Posted 16 January 2017 Our primary ambition this season, and this will be the same for every season we are in the top division of English football, was and will be to avoid relegation. Winning the title in a glorious miracle of a season did not change that.
