Corky Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 I made a point after the Southampton away game last season, our third comeback from 2-0 down in five games, that this was the club we wanted to support- the team were not perfect but giving absolutely everything, heads didn't drop and no giving up. Yesterday was the antithesis of that. It was another shambles at the back, another limp display going forward and almost zero goal threat. And it wasn't actually through a lack of decent opportunities to create something given we won free-kicks in dangerous areas and several corners too. Being 3-0 down with plenty of time left gave me a chance to analyse what we were doing without the match being in the balance. The lack of movement which made Ndidi fed up and decide to go on his own, Gray actually turning their defence towards their own goal, but that was all nullified by simple giving away of possession, not just on the ground but in the air. Huth had a few chances to bring the ball down, control and pass under little pressure and chose to head it into a crowded area every time. What do they hope to achieve if we can't keep the ball with space and time? We can't score and can't defend which leads to 3-0 defeats and little hope of improvement. We're getting worse and it's wholly predictable.
